Diversity CRNA HBCU 2019 School of Nursing Tour NCAT State University .
Dear #FirstGen Nursing Student...Next year, CRNAs of color will visit Schools of Nursing and speak to you about clinical and academic excellence, considering Nurse Anesthesia as a viable career option, importance of securing critical care nursing positions upon graduating from nursing school and how to perform a return demonstration on anesthesia equipment. .
CRNA and nurse anesthesia student colleagues who accompanied me on the tour, recall vividly during our time as a matriculated nursing student that not one CRNA came to our program to speak about the profession and or was encouraged to do so by a faculty member. .
For some reason, I have a strong feeling, many of you will leave our visit with a different career and educational trajectory with aspirations of becoming a doctorate prepared CRNA. . .
Why? Because, now you have choices that we were not afforded and thrilled to share with you the many Advanced Practice Nursing positions out here to select from to make a difference in our communities. .
The CRNAs and SRNAs from the Diversity in Nurse Anesthesia Mentorship Program actively changing the face and culture of the profession. .
It’s been a pleasure attending Florida A & M University, the greatest HBCU IN THE NATION! Serving as the head director of the world renowned FAMU Gospel Choir was one of the greatest things that could ever happen to me. So many days I wanted to give up and thought this day would never come. Many sacrifices were made, but that’s what it takes! Working a part time/full time job with the state and rehearsals or church obligations every night made me weary. But I NEVER GAVE UP! To encourage everyone, NEVER give up on your dreams and make time for the process!! I don’t care how long it takes, NEVER GIVE UP! I’m thankful to God for helping throughout this entire process! Also thankful to those that inspired me to pursue after my dreams! I’m ready for the next chapter! I bleed orange and green! 🧡💚🧡🐍 FAMU 2019 #FAMU#HBCU#HBCUGRADUATE@famu_1887

And my people are goofy enough to compete against me. When the blessing of Raja was for you.
You let them take all I meant for you. That's on you. If you were as smart as you pretend you would have spoken up for me so we could have blew this thing up by now. But you weren't meant to be on my team. God put me here for all walks of life.
