"With my bike pieced back together, I continued my plunge into the Pamirs. All forms of greenery dwindled as I left river valley for barren plateau. The altitude thinned the air as the rising road transitioned back and forth between unnavigable sand and painful corrugation. Surrounding inhospitable lands felt incongruously serene; no forms of life were around to disturb my trek forward. I felt wild, as if I were the first discoverer of the farthest edges of the world—man and bike, venturing forth into the unknown."

Introducing my Retro bong, #The4ormula . This was my very first water pipe, but was used as the community water pipe.
I was hit with something unexpected news health wise, but I'll keep strong.
Trying to keep my mind off it now with ANOES 3:Dream Warriors and some #hindukush and pick back up.
The drive between Kabul and Jalalabad is a stunning mountain pass weaving it’s way between steep, rocky mountain sides. A cold river flows rapidly next to the winding road. The views are breathtaking. It’s also the site of the British Army’s worst ever military defeat.
In 1842 an uprising in British occupied Kabul by Afghans forced the entire British Garrison to leave the city. They had negotiated with Afghan leaders a retreat through the mountain passes to Jalalabad city. But when they entered into the treacherous valley they discovered it was a trap, and over a period of weeks were slaughtered by constant attacks from Afghan tribesmen. Many in the group also died of exposure, starvation and frost bite.
4,500 British soldiers died and a staggering 12,000 civilians who were accompanying them, mostly the families of British and Indian soldiers and workmen and servants.
The few survivors made their last stand against attackers near a village called Gandamack before being killed. Remarkably, one British doctor and a few Indian soldiers made it out barely alive and to Jalalabad where they informed the British authorities there that everyone else was gone. Over time some civilian prisoners were released but it remains the only time an entire British military garrison has been wiped out. #jalalabad#kabul#afghanistan#britishhistory#afghanhistory#militaryhistory#britisharmy#britishempire#hindukush#history#ontheroad#travel#abitofcontext

On our day 2 in swat, we decided to visit Mahodand and Saifullah lakes. I was excited to see the beautiful blue colored mahodand lake with trees and mountains in background.
As we reached the place, i was so disappointed to see natural beauty of the lake destroyed by the tents, jeeps, shops, hotels and lots of people littering all over the place.
But i found a peaceful side where there were only horses and cows grazing in the green meadow. Beautiful dramatic light created by the play of weather, and the mountains in the background created a perfect view for me to capture.
Mahodand Lake, Swat, KP, Pakistan .
The beautiful valley of Swat is a conglomeration of different and varied valleys and plains.
The southern region is comparatively wide and open, consisting of plains that are cultivated through out the year and yield extremely large quantity of fruits and crops.
The Northern region is a congregation of tall high rising mountains where small valleys provide little ground for cultivation and residentiary area for the small mass of population scattered in different groups and families.
The valley of Mankial is one such place located in the north of Swat on the main road leading to Kalam. The total distance of the valley from Saidu Sharif is about eighty kilometers.
The condition of the road is not gratifying but still the scenic beauty all around, the cool and invigorating breeze and the whirling, foamy and gurgling water of River Swat keep the visitors engaged and delighted.
"Waking up at Barichokor campsite on the way to Rush lake, I came out of my camp and the first light hitting the peaks at our back was a heavenly sight. the clouds and light rays were illuminating the white snow at the summit of Sangemarmar sar creating a beautiful symphony of colors.
Sange-mar-mar sar meaning in Persian "ore/ heart of marble" is a pyramidal peak in the Batura Muztagh, at the end of a spur ridge running southwest from Pasu Sar in Pakistan."
