Today is another brew day. We’re making a special NEIPA for a New Year’s party that happens every year with friends. As of this moment, we’re in the sparge process after a very satisfactory hour of mashing!
🎄The 12 Beers of Christmas!🍻
In it's earliest form, Barley Wine dates back to Ancient Armenia. However, the style we know today has roots in 15th century England. With notes dark fruit, a full mouthfeel and smooth warmth from the alcohol content, Barley Wine is perfect for cold nights in front of the fire. Grab one of our Barley Wine beer kits now for a wonderfully aged brew next Christmas! 🇬🇧
Well, not been cooking much recently but plan to change that soon. What I have been doing is producing ‘a lot’ of home-brew beer, just in time for the festive season!

From the @brokengobletbrewing comes their collaboration beer with @nakedbrewing called How Do You Like Them Apples! Poured into a snifter to a black beer topped by a finger of dense tan head which retains well and leaves minimal lacing. Smells of chocolate with some allspice and some slight apple aroma and some hints of roasted malts. Taste is brandy and apples with some chocolate, coffee, and roasted malt flavors. There's a little oak in there as well but not a lot. On the swallow this beer is brandy sweetness with some lingering roasted malts, coffee and chocolate. This beer is on the heavier side of things with a silky and smooth mouthfeel. Carbonation is there but below prickly which is fine for the style. The beer has a slightly dry finish as well. Overall, this is a really interesting take on the beer.
Our next brew day is right around the corner, and we thought we’d give you a behind the scenes look at everything that goes into the process of making a hazy IPA.
Step 1 - Preparation
•Pic 1 - is the grain that we purchased at our local home brew store @scotzinbroshomebrew
•Pic 2 - is the 20 gallons of RO (reverse osmosis) water we collected from our local supermarket
•Pic 3 - are the hops we have chosen to use in our next hazy IPA
•Pic 4 - is a yeast starter we prepared in order to cultivate more yeast to pitch into our wort (sugar water)
•Pic 5 - is the least glamorous part of the process but most necessary. That is cleaning and sanitizing, especially everything that will be used during the fermentation process (cold side).
We will keep you updated with more pictures from the second step - Brew Day!

How we ended the session last night. The PCs are clearing out a kobold infestation in a lost dwarven mine. They took out a gaurd, scared off a hidden sniper, cleared out a barracks, and totally overwhelmed a kobold cavalier and his giant cave gecko mount. Here, they got a peek into the next chamber to see more kobolds at the ready! Can they survive the overwhelming numbers? Will they get to the bottom of the kobold occupation? Will Danger ever live up to her name? Gamenight can't come soon enough!
30 second brew day 🍻 Brewing my first kveik today. Consisting mostly of pale malt with small amounts of Vienna, carapils & caramel malt. I used 105g of cascade for 25 IBU’s. The yeast i’m using is from bootleg biology OSLO kveik. I pitched at 25°C so it’s off to a cool start. My hydra took me by surprise and kept cooling faster than the pump could empty the kettle. Hit my numbers on the head today with a SG of 1.050. I over pitched on purpose with the intention of not stressing the yeast and creating a very clean, dry blonde. I’ll harvest a teaspoon from this batch to be stressed out on the next batch and hopefully give off those famous tropical flavors 😬 great brew day I say! 🎉🍻 #homebrewing#homebrew
