One of our favourite liver phyto-medicines is Dandelion....latin name - Taraxacum officinale
Dandelion has been long used as a liver tonic. Rich in antioxidants, dandelion has been shown to protect the liver from alcohol damage demonstrating how it has the ability to protect the liver.
A very common issue for many women is the inability to metabolise hormones via the liver. Dandelion can assist these women via a gentle action to stimulate the liver via bitter properties.
Dandelion has also been shown to assist in regulating healthy cholesterol levels as the liver plays a primary role in cholesterol manufacture.
We use dandelion in both our Happy Hormones and Happy Liver formulations.

sending love to you all xo

If you haven’t gotten an OGTT with Insulin & you’re unsure of your pcos root causes, read this!! ✨✨✨
When I was first getting my hormones and blood work in 2016 my fasting glucose was 5.5, which is high for my age, but still in “normal range.” Just because some of our blood markers is in the regular range that doesn’t mean they are ideal. This was when my eating disorder was the worst- I was starving, binging, doing hours of fasted cardio & truly self-sabotaging in my emotional life. Fast forward to 2019 I finally got a fasting insulin test which shows I am pretty insulin sensitive, with supplement interventions & less binging over the last two years. However I do believe I need to get an Oral Glucose Tolerance Test with Insulin Assay to see how my body responds after a high intake of sugar. Type two diabetes runs in my family and I also have experienced intense carbohydrate cravings since my healing from hypothalamic amenhorrea (a missing period due to under-fueling,
stress and over-exercise. If your insulin stays high for too long after eating this is the first stage of a lack of insulin sensitivity, which couldn’t eventually lead to type two diabetes. Whether you progress that far or not, insulin sensitivity is important for mood, weight balance, cardiovascular health and reproductive health + more. So if you have never got this test done yet and you’ve thought insulin resistance couldn’t be a root cause for your pcos, you may want to ask your doctor about it! You can be insulin resistant at the cellular level as well which can be tested with a functional practitioner through @spectracelllabs. ❤️

3 IMPORTANT THINGS TO DO, TO MAINTAIN YOUR HORMONAL HEALTH AFTER HA:
1️⃣ Get mindful and present. This is the foundation. You can do 2️⃣ and 3️⃣ below only when you really and truly pay attention to your body. How? Meditation needs to become your daily habit if isn’t yet. Is it hard? Sure, at first it is. But it’s like a muscle: you train and train until it gets really strong, and then you start seeing the benefits.
2️⃣ Start listening to your body’s hunger cues a bit closer. In recovery, it was important to eat a ton, and sometimes you may have felt like you had to force yourself to eat. This was all great and 100% needed for recovery, but 2-3 months after that, start asking your body: How much do I need? Am I still hungry? Do I want this dessert? Not saying that you shouldn’t eat 🍰 🧁 but ask and listen. Sometimes it’s a yes and sometimes no.
3️⃣ Use the traffic light🚦colors to understand what type of workout you should do today (or if you should take a day off). Feeling tired, hungry, low energy? Probably a red day, take a rest. Feeling okay but not 100%? Sounds like a yellow day. Do half of your workout or another, lighter activity. Feeling energized and can’t wait to go to the gym? GO!

I'm going to be honest for a second and say, I used to think they were these made up things...
That women cast blame too easy on “hormones.” At the same time I could see friends raging lunatic, who felt out of control just about the same time every month.
Um yeah.Hormones... Hormones are real people! “Hormones! From PMS to menopause, these messengers of womanhood can affect your mood, your weight, your food cravings - even your desire for sex.
For many women, it's smooth sailing, but for others, it's a shipwreck at every turn of the hormonal bend.” Can anyone relate or is it just me???? Let's just say this – it has not been smooth sailing emotionally for so much of my adulthood (and many mothers would probably agree too for much of their teen daughters years too 😉 ). This hormonal struggle resulted in difficult emotions to say the least.
I was relieved to find out that there was support to be found in Progessence Plus.
Progessence Plus has naturally occurring progesterone from wild yam extract, as well as many other amazing (and emotionally grounding) essential oils – including frankincense and bergamot.
Dr. Edie Wadsworth has offered a lot of information on this subject, and she explained that we live in an estrogen dominant world.
This is why Progessence Plus helps!
Now, I'm not going to get all scientific on you but one of my clients had her period back within 3 days of using it after 4 months of nothingness, and her hot flashes disappeared since September!
It speaks volumes really.
It’s that simple: it either works or not.so why not trying?!?
I met some of my favorite people in my life on the internet 😂.
Jesus brought the 2 of us together on Facebook. I messaged this random Boston chic because of her abs she got after her baby 3.5 years ago.
Turns out the Lord used her to challenge me to level up and switch directions in my life to do more of what I was actually created to do in position influencing others.
I am forever grateful for @elizhartke and the blessing she is in my life as a friend, sister in Christ & business mentor. 💕 Also... she’s a total sarcastic dorkasaurus like myself which is why we work together so well 🤣.
The community I’ve walked into in this team of influencers has been truly life changing. 🙌🏼 • #healthpatriotnation
Did you know your menstrual cycle is a great place to look for your hormonal health and even overall health?! It shows what your hormones are up to and we know that when hormones are out of balance, likely everything else is out of balance too. Your periods are supposed to be symptom-less in all ways - so not too heavy or light, no spotting, no cramps or cravings, breast tenderness, irritability, etc. Can you even imagine!? Pay attention to what your periods look like and feel like because if they are a burden in your life, we can fix them holistically. Stress plays a huge role in how your periods are for you, so that's the first place I look. You don't need birth control to keep them at bay either.
Going into the weekend, I just wanted to remind myself - no cheat days!! It’s easy to want to say I deserve having a burger and fries because I worked so hard during the week. But it’s important to remind myself the negative impacts these foods can have on PCOS. Here’s a reminder to myself.
People on a PCOS diet should avoid foods already widely seen as unhealthful. These include:
Refined carbohydrates, such as mass-produced pastries and white bread.
Fried foods, such as fast food.
Sugary beverages, such as sodas and energy drinks.
Processed meats, such as hot dogs, sausages, and luncheon meats.
Solid fats, including margarine, shortening, and lard.
Excess red meat, such as steaks, hamburgers, and pork.

☝️Microneedling works by needling hyaluronic acid into the skin (something that we produce naturally but depletes as we age) this gives the skin extra moisture that we lose urging the menopause!
🤞🏻Skin resurfacing tightens the skin & regains collagen and elastin fibres! Whilst adding a gorgeous glow! 🙏🏼our onsite nurse @aesthetics_by_sw can also work her magic to give you a natural but noticeable treatment and actually inject hyaluronic acid into the face to plump & nourish as well as other options to lift and plump. Working perfectly alongside ours! 😍
Primal movement and energy medicine is especially useful for pregnant women who need a gentle way to feel more comfortable in their ever changing, magnificent, powerful yet sensitive body.
Honestly, I love working with new mother's for many reasons, probably the biggest reason is because they are so powerful yet also sensitive. It's such an important moment of self-transformation, a unique opportunity to re-create oneself.
“AT 6 MONTHS PREGNANT, I WAS EXPERIENCING LOWER BACK AND SCIATIC NERVE PAIN. THE PRIMAL MOVEMENTS JONATHAN TAUGHT ME PROVIDED IMMEDIATE RELIEF AND FELT CLEANSING AND REFRESHING. AS I SETTLED INTO A RELAXED STATE, THE BABY PERKED UP AND DID SOME HAPPY DANCING. 🔹
DURING MY THIRD TRIMESTER I FOUND MYSELF LOSING SLEEP FROM GENERAL DISCOMFORT. THE ENERGY MEDICINE JONATHAN DID WHILE I WAS 8 MONTHS PREGNANT WAS BY FAR THE MOST RELIEF AND RELAXATION I FELT DURING THE THIRD TRIMESTER, AND AFTERWARDS I FELL INTO A SPONTANEOUS, DEEP SLEEP. “ 🔹

The foods we eat each day lead us either towards health or away from it but herbs are powerful allies when it comes to looking after ourselves. The relationship between humans and herbs is deep rooted and the benefits are far reaching. There are herbs to aid digestion, calm the nerves, boost the immune system, nourish our energy reserves, regulate menses, reduced inflammation...the list goes on and on. Food builds the foundations and herbs take you to the next level. Using herbs in the postpartum period can speed up the healing process and aid COMPLETE healing - something that all too often evades us. Herbs are also wonderful at supporting mum's as they travel through the extended postpartum period and motherhood beyond.
What you do today will affect your well-being tomorrow
I’m single mum this week as hubby is away in South Africa for an urgent family matter. I’m not going to lie, it’s been tough +tiring (hence I’ve been a little quiet on IG this past few days so I’m catching up on my post). The biggest thing I’m doing this week to make sure I’m not completely floored + my hormones are not all over the place is making sure I eat and sleep well. I’ve given up on working at night and just fall asleep when I put my son to bed
Being in my 40’s and early perimenopause (my periods are a lot lighter + shorter the last few years), I sometimes find a challenge handling stress + overwhelm. However I know what I need to feel capable + not like complete hormonal wreck. Apart from feeling out of sorts, when we start to deplete hormones with age (or through ill health/surgery), we (ie women) also lose it’s protective benefit for our heart, bones, brain, gut + urogenital system.
Women are at higher risk of heart disease, osteoporosis (leading to fractures), dementia, cancer, urinary incontinence/prolapse or arthritis when we lose our natural hormones
However if you focus on promoting a healthy lifestyle, it will help reduce other risk factors to these concerning diseases. Here are some recommendations from British Menopause Society:-
1️⃣ Keep weight within healthy range of BMI of 18.5-25kg/m2
2️⃣ Do not smoke
3️⃣ Keep alcohol intake to under 2 units per day
4️⃣ Adopt a Mediterranean-style diet
5️⃣ Incorporate 150mins of exercise into your weekly routine
6️⃣ Learn how to perform correct pelvic floor muscle exercises during pregnancy + maintain them thereafter
7️⃣ Use sunscreen + protective clothing to prevent sun-induced skin ageing
8️⃣ Discuss + work with your doctor to reduce any risk factors for heart disease (eg high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes)
9️⃣ Ensure adequate calcium + vitamin D intake for maintenance of healthy bones
🔟 Participate + stay up to date with national cancer screening programs eg cervix, breast + colorectal
HRT is only one part of the solution. There are many holistic treatments that can help relieve symptoms that I will share next
I apologies if I’ve been giving you mixed messages. I don’t only work with skin and cosmetic treatments. I also help women with symptoms associated with Perimenopause so they feel more like their confident selves and take back control of the years ahead of them
Perimenopause symptoms can be divided into 3 types
1️⃣ Vasomotor - hot flushes and night sweats associated with flushing of the skin and profuse sweating. This seems to be more prevalent in Western countries
2️⃣ Psychological - depressed mood, anxiety, irritability, mood swings, lethargy and lack of energy. Studies have shown the extent of psychological symptoms depend on past problems and current life stressors. Having a good support system including at home and at work, being healthy, having a positive outlook on ageing and improving quality of sleep will all help to reduce psychological symptoms
3️⃣ Physical - dry skin, dry hair, stiff or painful joints, headaches, loss of sexual desire, weight gain and changes in menstrual period (typically shorter or cycling more days apart)
The reasons behind the variations in symptom prevalence are not clearly understood but evidence suggest that factors such as diet, smoking, exercise, body mass index, reproductive history, genetics, climate, socioeconomic status, beliefs and attitudes towards ageing may all contribute
It’s #worldmenopauseday today and for most of my followers, you might feel it’s too far ahead to think about (remember it can hit as early as 35 years old) but there’s a lot you can do in the many years beforehand to set yourself up well to prepare for the transitional years. Important thing is to educate yourself on what Perimenopause looks like so you can seek support/help if you need it. Don’t let anyone tell you it’s all in your head!! #perimenopause#menopause

☕️ C O F F E E & hormones.
🇨🇴 Our Colombian hearts don’t lie: we are coffee lovers, too🙈!!
☝🏼However, when it comes to women and hormonal health, too much of this kind of pleasure might not always be the best decision🙅🏻♀️.
📚While several studies have linked coffee with multiple health benefits like increased metabolism and protection against Dementia and Parkinson, we as women have a bit of a trickier relationship with it.
📑Research on how caffeine affects our hormones is quite conclusive:
—It has been proven to disrupt ovulation. Due to the fact that caffeine stimulates cortisol, this may implicate extra-stress and fatigue for our adrenals🥵.
—It can deplete vital vitamins and minerals like Vitamin B and folate, which are absolutely essential for ovulation and healthy fertility🤰🏻.
—Consuming caffeinated beverages during early pregnancy (this is, before you may even know that you are pregnant👶🏼!), can increment the risk of an early miscarriage.
—It is associated with higher estrogen levels (hormonal imbalance) regardless of age, body mass index (BMI), caloric intake, smoking, alcohol, and cholesterol intake📈.
📎 Despite these findings, it is also clear that coffee has different effects on different individuals, depending on other factors like genetics, lifestyle and other health conditions.
🤗💓We suggest that you find your own personal balance and avoid relying too much on coffee as a source of energy⚡️.
☕️We prefer to limit caffeine intake to 1 cup a day during the first half of the month, preferably in the morning (and ideally NOT before breakfast🙅🏻♀️).
✨During the second half of our cycle; and as the menstrual phase approaches, we have found that avoiding caffeine works better for us, as it increases blood pressure and heart rate resulting in more tension, cramping, headaches and fatigue🙇🏻♀️💣.

Progesterone and estrogen hormones complement one another and when you don't have enough progesterone, estrogen dominates. It can be seen in many symptoms like weight and fat gain, decreased sex drive, heavy or irregular bleeding, swollen and tender breasts, fibrocystic breasts, uterine fibroids or gallbladder problems. An imbalance of estrogen and progesterone can also affect your levels of serotonin and bring on strong premenstrual syndrome with anxiety, depression, irritability and mood swings. PMS is a frequent side effect of poor quality or low level of progesterone. Main reasons for estrogen dominance are poor diet, high exposure to environmental xenoestrogens and use of synthetic estrogens such as the birth control pill and hormone replacement therapy (HRT). Another causes of this state are lack of ovulation during menstrual cycle, which is common among women older than 35, digestion issues which slow down the estrogen detoxification process in the liver, alcohol consumption and smoking. Chronical stress, which strains the adrenals and the thyroid, or unresolved emotional issues can further deplete progesterone.
What you can do? • eat a diet full of organic whole foods and fiber in form of fresh fruits and vegetables, specially from brassicae family like cabbage, kale, broccoli (more about nutrition for progesterone in next post) • reduce meat consumption, specially red meat - try to find out sources of stress and and reduce chronic stress to support your adrenal and thyroid glands • get enough quality rest and deep relaxation • get enough sleep • make sure that you have plenty of good bacteria in your intestines by taking probiotics to reduce overgrowth of yeast or harmful bacteria and enough fibre to support the bowels movement • reduce as much as possible exposure to xenoestrogens • reduce your use of alcohol and if you smoke, consider to stop • support liver health (with green veggies, green juices, or herb supplement such as milk thistle)
• find an acupuncturist who can help you to balance the energy flow in your system.
Any other ideas? What's your experience? #hormonalbalance#estrogendominance

Here is something to think about…
We consume so many products, both orally and topically...YES, even topically.
So, how do we keep the toxins out?
✅ We have to purchase produce and vegetables that are not genetically processed.
✅ We have to wash our foods before consuming.
...Here’s a bonus tip...Using baking soda in warm water to cleanse your fruits and vegetables is a good idea!
✅ We have to eat items that have seeds...NO seedless.
Making the transition to consume better foods is not an overnight process, but if you start with one new habit - additional healthy habits will follow.
Whatever you put on the skin gets absorbed into your body. That’s alarming right?!
For years, I used relaxers, hair treatments chemicals on my skin and scalp...As a child, unaware... 🤷🏿♀️ it was just the thing to do, not knowing that these chemicals can pose a threat on my health later in life.
Today, I’m intentional about using products that are paraben and fragrance free.
I even started using hemp oil not only for cooking but for my skin and scalp. I could not resist the antioxidant and anti-acne effect it has. 👍🏿
If you’re thinking about what changes you can make, I can suggest starting small. Instead of purchasing a drink on-the-go, make your own healthy smoothie!

This popped up on my newsfeed today from one year ago so it prompted me to take an updated photo and MAN was I happy seeing how much new, thicker hair I've gotten! I've wasted so much time and money over the years trying to save my rapidly thinning hair and nothing worked. SO glad I finally found my #magicsauce

Inner moon cycle
Such wonderful teachers!
I came to be in tune with the cycles, embracing my period.
Diving deeper and learning more about the menstrual cycle in the eyes of TCM made me understand the importance of it seen as my 5th vital sign.
I want to be fertile with a healthy hormonal communication system for as long as I can.
Life gets in the way sometimes 🤷♀️
It seems every year from the middle of August til the end of October it gets crazy around here.... I was doing pretty good up until now. My body finally said I can't do this any more and opened the gates. Too tired to hold on anymore. Way too early!
Now it's strengthening foods and herbal brews, and #vaginalsteaming as soon as I can. Rest is not really possible right now, but I am definitely slowing down the pace. •
If short cycles and long bleeding periods are your norm, there is definitely a deficiency, and I really recommend to work on strengthening your body.
Medication and artificial hormones are not working on the root cause!!

“DO YOU REALLY EAT 2500 CALORIES AND DON’T GAIN MORE WEIGHT?” ##
A lot of women with HA take this number, 2500 calories, very seriously. THIS is the number of calories needed for recovery, they think, so they hold onto it.
It’s great to have this guideline but it’s also important to know that this is not a magic number. It’s an estimate of the bare minimum that’s needed.
Secondly, 2500 calories is not a HUGE amount of food. All these years of conditioning diet & fitness industry have lead us to believe that it’s something enormous. Sure, it may feel like it, if you’ve been eating 1200-1500 cals a day and burned at least 300-500 off with daily exercise, leaving you with 700-1200 net. But for an active person, it’s not that much.
I’ve mentioned that this 2500 is roughly how much I probably eat in a day. I don’t know exactly, but when I tracked just out of curiosity, my calories were around 2300-2600 daily. I’m recovered from HA. This is how I’m maintaining my current body and health. Not losing, not gaining, at least not significantly - I don’t weigh myself but based on what I see and how my clothes fit.
This is possible when the body is healthy and balanced, when it knows what to do with the energy it’s taking in, when it’s metabolism is working the way it should. The body knows how much food it needs. All we have to do is listen, not try to manipulate it.
Talking about this and more, on the BALANCE after HA webinar on Wednesday, 10/23 at 5pm PDT/8pm EST. Sign up link in bio!

Lets talk about focus.....what is your focus today?
Work? Kids? Worry? Wealth?......or Health?
Without your health.....nothing else is possible. Health is not a given.....it takes focus and work....some sacrifices...some pain....but the rewards out way the efforts exponentially.
More energy, emotionally balanced, symptom free, happy, in control, sound sleep, motivated..... It is difficult to enjoy life to its fullest without your health. Women are particularly susceptible to symptoms due to hormonal factors which significantly impact on their quality of life.
The good news is our bodies have an innate ability to balance and heal themselves when you give them the right environment. It can be difficult to know what to do and how to navigate back towards health.
Our practitioner team focus their energy in educating women towards learning how to focus their energy in the right channels and to heal themselves. #happyhealthyyou#happy#disease#hormonalbalance#wellness#pcos#pmdd#perimenopause#pms#letushelpyouhelpyourself

Saved the best for last 🏆
DIET 👏🏻 is the most, most, MOOOOOSSSTTTTT important piece of all of your puzzles. Seriously! What we eat matters. Every single bite we take either gives us life or walks us one step closer to death.
Think about it: if you eat processed (dead) foods, are you going to feel alive? No. (Maybe initially from the insulin response but that will plummet quickly and then you’ll feel even worse than you did before eating!) if you eat fresh raw fruits and vegetables and other foods that provide nutrition, how do you think you will feel? NOURISHED because you’re providing and fueling your body with the tools to heal and recover.
When you eat crap, you feel like crap, think like crap, mood is crap, energy is crap, insulin is crap, hormones are crap, craps crap, everything’s crap 💩
Eat well, raise your vibes, love yourself and stay stress free, my friends 😘

Our Anti-Aging Lip Treatment is delicate and powerful enough to help you put your best pout forward. Use as a primer before applying lipstick to prevent color bleeding and to maintain your look all day or night.
When it comes to the Ketogenic diet and the hype around it, I completely understand why some might express their doubts and even their anger around it. I know and appreciate where they are coming from. - a diet that is based on the restriction of an entire food group? - a way of eating that suggests the counting of macronutrients?
- a lifestyle where seemingly anything is substituted through cauliflower?
No, the world doesn’t need another fashionable way of deprivation, another attempt to make people feel like they have to shrink, another prohibition disguised in a trend.
I understand if people feel like the Keto diet is the embodiment of a FAD diet. A new trendy temptation designed to keep you in the diet cycle.
That’s why I don’t suggest the Keto diet to anyone that has a history of counting macros and calories or with demonizing entire food groups.
Cutting out carbs is gonna be a trigger and have significant implications on your mental and emotional health, even when the physical aspect of your health improves.
In MY case Keto healed the relationship I had with food. I was never a calorie counter and never became one. I never demonized carbs themselves. I never counted macros or worried about the carb percentage on my plate being under 5%. No.
I was the girl that was scared of food. And of hunger.
I didn’t have a weird relationship to a certain food group, I had a weird relationship to eating in general. I would feel shame before, while and after eating. I would be terrified of feeling hungry and would dread the moment of feeling full.
Guilt, hunger and cravings would be the trinity in power of my days.
Food and the absence of it, weight and the absence of it, hunger an the absence of it would shape my thoughts.
So no: The cutting out of carbs didn’t scare me, trigger me or bug me.
Hunger, shame and cravings disappeared 2 weeks into the Keto diet. I felt satisfied and happy.
Keto took care of the areas I personally (!) was struggling with but since everybody struggles with different things: create the lifestyle that induces mental, emotional and physical health. ♥️

I never knew what would happen when I started openly talking about endometriosis. I expected all kinds of things but not an inbox full of messages from women asking for advice...and it warms my heart that so many are reaching out for help!
In order to make this information available to all my friends and to become a member of a wider endo-healing community, I created this account.
So…today on the agenda - SUPPLEMENTS!
Endometriosis is an inflammatory disease (probably an autoimmune disease) and is characterized by excess estrogen. It is essential to take supplements that strengthen the immune system, reduce inflammation and support the body in eliminating toxins and excess hormones.
Below is the list of some of the supplements that I found helpful. 🌸
1️⃣ DIM (Diindolylmethane) helps the body metabolize estrogen making it easier to eliminate. It is derived from cruciferous veggies like broccoli and cauliflower. 🌸
2️⃣ EVENING PRIMOROSE OIL contains GLA (gammalinolenic acid) and it is great because it is an omega-6 and a powerful anti-inflammatory. It also acts as a tumor reducer in those with endometriosis. (and if your boobs ever hurt during PMS - this will help! :)) 🌸
3️⃣ CALCIUM d-glucarate is a supplement that helps the body excrete excess amounts of estrogen, carcinogens, and other hormones. 🌸
4️⃣PROBIOTICS containing Lactobacillus acidophilus are essential for those with endometriosis to support and replenish a healthy gut flora leading to a stronger immune system. A healthy digestive tract is essential for elimination of toxins and excess hormones. 🌸
5️⃣A good multi-vitamin containing antioxidant VITAMINS A, C, D, E, the B-vitamins as well as magnesium, calcium, zinc. 🌸
6️⃣TURMERIC is a powerful anti-inflammatory, it is also a helpful way to reduce estrogen, and it can reduce the size of endometriosis lesions. 🌸
7️⃣ZINC is amazing because it is a powerful anti-inflammatory, and it repairs intestinal permeability!

The more you tone your facial and cranial muscles the more the impulses created by flexing them increase blood circulation and the oxygenation of the brain and glands in the head. This is the key to optimal health of every single cell in your body, hydration, youth and your
This means that with fit facial muscles you can control your inner and outer radiance.
👉 When on a low carb/ketogenic/carnivore/Palaeolithic diet your fat consumption will and needs to go up.
When you consume more fat your body requires more choline.
Where can you find choline naturally? In fatty meats, eggs, fish. (Almost as if nature designed it that way...)
Choline will boost cellular health, cognitive health, works DNA protective, improves signalling between cells, liver and cardiovascular health.
👉 Follow @metabolicnutritionist for more nutritional information.
👉 Zinc: One of the most common deficiencies with a huge impact on overall health and well-being.
Deficiency is usually caused a diet lacking in meat, high fibre intake, high phytate intake (such as from whole grains/legumes), high alcohol intake, diabetes and antibiotic use.
Ask for a plasma zinc concentration blood test. Ideally you will have levels between 10.7-23.0 MMol/L.
If low supplement, women: 8-14 mg/day, men: 11-15 mg/day
👉Follow @metabolicnutritionist for more healthy lifestyle, supplementation and nutrition information.

A special oil for woman. The smell is floral and sweet. So feminine
Some people identify that Geranium’s scent is similar with Rose’s scent, hence they call it Geranium Rose. Oh no, Don’t get confused with that coz both are totally from different family. And fyi, Geranium oil is commonly used to adulterate Rose essential oil. Make sure you know your source and get the right one! .
Quick stock up on some faves. Dude, side note, but @strausmilk chocolate milk is TO DIE FOR. Add some collagen and boom.
I’ve also got some organic grape and apple juice for quick fructose (hey liver, love you boo), bone broth and was craving some barramundi, so grabbed a pack of that.
A lot of people ask me “what do you eat for PCOS” or “should I eat XYZ” or “is xyz ok to eat”?
IDK YOU TELL ME, IS IT?
Your body tells you what’s ok and what’s not giving you signs called symptoms.
We eat for our goals. My goal is to support healthy cellular metabolism with adequate protein, carb and fat.
I want energy, mental clarity, joy, good sleeps, good digestion and a good libido.
Oh and I want to enjoy the hell out of my food.
Calorie restriction and following fads like plant based, keto and paleo left me in a hypo metabolic state. Chasing symptoms- seeing most improve, only to have others pop up.
Obsessively eating veggies, nuts and seeds to replace all the foods I cut out messed up my gut and left me super inflamed.
My temps were low, my pulse was low, blood sugar was whack, inflammation was high and my metabolism and hormones were trashed.
If your nutrition is getting you no where fast, it’s ok to experiment, do research and figure out what’s best for your body.
My “diet” is now metabolically supportive and looks like:
🖤Getting proteins from a variety of high quality eggs, dairy, meats, broth, gelatin/collagen, fish and shellfish
🖤Getting sugars/carbs from easy to digest fruits, fruit juice, honey, maple syrup, squashes and root veggies- always keeping it balanced with enough protein.
🖤Getting my fats from things like high quality butter, coconut oil and chocolate
🖤Not really digging super fibrous veggies like cruciferous or raw leafy and opting for things like mushrooms and bell peppers
🖤Eating occasional grains that are well prepared, like sourdough or sprouted oats
In Fully Nourished, I deep dive into supporting your cells and body using nutrition and lifestyle, but always encouraging you to listen and tailor it to YOU.
So, the real question is, do you like chocolate milk?

❓Does what you eat affect skin breakouts❓ ⠀
You could have all the dermal treatments, take all of the best supplements and herbs, but not addressing the diet piece when it comes to acne is like ignoring that flashing red light on your dashboard, filling your car up with petrol and hoping it will keep driving 🚗💨⠀
In my latest blog, I’m sharing with you the Top 6 Foods To Eat To Naturally Banish Hormonal Acne. Head on over to read the full article via the link in my bio. To get you started here though, let’s talk about one of my favourite anti-acne foods: ✨ OYSTERS! ✨⠀
Why are oysters one of the best foods for fighting acne? ⠀
Because they are so rich in ZINC! ⠀
Zinc is one of the most beneficial nutrients for reducing acne because it works locally in your skin to fight the bacteria that causes acne, and also helps to speed up wound healing. This means that healed infections are less likely to scar which is important once you address the cause of your breakouts 👊⠀
Zinc works really well for hormonal acne because it helps to reduce your production of testosterone. High testosterone is one of the major contributing factors in hormonal acne - the kind which often appears around your chin, jawline and upper lip and commonly flares around the time of your period. ⠀
Zinc is one of my favourite supplement recommendations for acne, but it can also be consumed through diet which is why it is my number one anti-acne food.⠀
Some of the foods highest in zinc other than oysters are:⠀
Have you tried eating oysters before for your hormones and acne? Personally, I’m not a big fan of raw oysters (as much as I’ve tried to be in to them at fancy restaurants 😂) but I actually really enjoy smoked oysters so they might be worth a try if you also struggle with the sliminess of raw oysters! Let me know if you’ve found any good ways of getting more into your diet below - I’d love to learn your tricks! ✨⠀

When that time of the month hits.... Hormonal health is complicated for everyone, but it is more complex if you are female! Let's discuss some of the important hormones women have: 🌟Estrogen - During the menstrual cycle, levels of estrogen ramp up and the main function is to promote uterus lining growth. Estrogen also is involved with regulating breast tissue growth during adolescence and helps to keep bones strong.
🌟Progesterone - This female sex hormone rises to its highest level during the luteal phase following ovulation. Its primary function is to assist with making the uterus lining suitable for implantation.
🌟Testosterone - While present in higher quantities in men, some testosterone is necessary in women as well.
🌟hCG - This is a hormone involved with producing progesterone. During the early stages of pregnancy, the level doubles approximately every three days.
🌟FSH - This stands for “follicle stimulating hormone.” It is involved with releasing the egg during ovulation.
🌟Prolactin - As you might guess from the name, this hormone promotes milk production.
Other important hormones in your body include thyroid hormones, insulin, and more. Point is, ladies got a lot going on! 📕4 Reason Why Women Have Mood Swings: https://bit.ly/2kY8snX
Let’s talk hair... 👩🏻There was a time when I colour treated my hair ALL THE TIME. I even bleached it so I could have caramel colored highlights (🤷🏻♀️😆). This was before @katiefonta, obviously. I also didn’t eat as nourishing a diet as I do now... my hair was super dry, falling out and brittle. I also washed it way too much and used waaaay too many chemical-laden styling products including mousse, hairspray and gel to manage my wavy curls. Eeeeek!
This is me on day 5 or 6 of no wash (thank you dry shampoo and shampoo that gets my hair super clean after a wash) and I only washed it 3 times over a 30-day period, pretty good! And yes I did a lot of hiking, sweating and working out over that time too. All this to say that I can teach you how to have healthy hair, NATURALLY 😊
⭐️Every Sunday ⭐️I run a FREE natural hair care challenge where you learn: the best foods and natural health supplements for healthy hair, how to do a hair detox and the ingredients lurking in your haircare products that can accumulate in your body (noooo good). You can join me this Sunday or any Sunday for that matter!!

I’m sure you’ve heard it around the block, but I’m gonna say it again for the people in the back: THE MINERAL MAGNESIUM IS ESSENTIAL FOR HEALTH.
🖤required for proper use and excretion of iron
🖤required for proper insulin response and glucose use
🖤essential for thyroid function
🖤detoxifies and protects us from heavy metals such as lead, mercury, cadmium and aluminum
🖤required to make glutathione (your master antioxidant)
🖤proper use of calcium (tonsil stones and kidney stones I’m looking at you 👀)
🖤relaxation of the nervous system and getting out of the sympathetic state (fight or flight)
And girl, if you’re stressed, you’re not eating right, you have low thyroid function or imbalances hormones or do any of the following:
✖️drink more than 3 glasses of alcohol per week
✖️eat processed foods (or have in the past)
✖️ aren’t sleeping 6-8 hours per night
✖️grew up on polyunsaturated fats and wheat fortified with iron
YOU NEED LOTS OF GOOD OL MAG.
Some common signs of low magnesium include:
▪️low/high blood pressure
▪️gut issues like IBS & constipation
▪️muscle cramps and spasms
Keep in mind that the body fights hard to keep blood levels of magnesium stable, even going so far as to pull and deplete magnesium from the cells to do so.
Low cellular magnesium is not detected on regular plasma tests and is best detected on RBC magnesium or erythrocytes magnesium tests.
Check out my latest IG TV on how to make your own cheap, easy to absorb magnesium bicarbonate.
I also like to get extra magnesium from epsom salt baths 🛁
Keep in mind, magnesium is not for everyone and it’s always a good idea to taIk to your doc before supplementing 🖤

LET'S GET REAL: The pill is not a solution to your period problems 🤯⠀
So many women have told me they went on the pill to "regulate" their irregular cycles, fix period pain, clear their skin or reduce PMS symptoms. Does the pill work for these SYMPTOMS? 💯%. Does it address the root cause of these issues and prevent them from coming back? NOT AT ALL 🙅⠀
Let me paint a common picture for you: your periods are all over the shop, often not arriving for months at a time and you're sick of feeling out of tune with your body. You might be dealing with some annoying breakouts or PMS symptoms as well. Your doctor prescribes the pill to "regulate" your cycle, and low and behold, next month you have a perfect 28-day cycle! Your skin clears up, PMS disappears and you feel like you've finally figured out this period thing so you stay on the pill for several years until you decide it's time to come off because you're ready for a baby, or you want to see how it feels to not take synthetic hormones. Then, you're shocked to discover that your skin starts breaking out again (likely worse than before), PMS returns with a vengeance, and you're back to your frustratingly irregular cycles. WHAT HAPPENED❓⠀
The truth is the pill CANNOT regulate your cycle. When you take the pill, you are tricking your body into believing it's in a similar state to pregnancy. This shuts down the communication between your brain and ovaries that normally triggers ovulation, followed by your period. When you take those white sugar pills, you have a break from the synthetic hormones you have been taking, which triggers a withdrawal bleed. Ladies, I want you to understand: A PILL BLEED IS NOT A TRUE PERIOD 🤯 A true period is triggered by OVULATION⠀
The pill provides a bandaid solution to mask what is going on at a deeper level. To TRULEY fix your symptoms, you need to discover your individual imbalances. Only then can you heal your issues for good, and experience regular periods, clear skin and no PMS. Think you might have a hormonal imbalance? Take my FREE quiz (link in bio) to discover which one you might have and how to start addressing the ROOT CAUSE rather than masking the symptoms

There is a commonly held belief that it is normal for women to be in crippling pain every month. Period pain is COMMON, but it is not NORMAL. Pain that is stabbing, burning or throbbing, lasts for several days, doesn’t respond to pain killers, is so severe it causes vomiting or forces you to miss days of work or school is NOT normal.⠀
Why do we get period pain? ⠀
Right before your period begins, the lining of your uterus begins to break down – this causes the release of prostaglandins. Prostaglandins trigger the muscles of your uterus to shed its lining. This is a necessary part of bleeding, however too many prostaglandins can cause pain and inflammation.⠀
One of the most effective conventional treatments for period pain is Ibuprofen. This is because it works by blocking the production of prostaglandins. The good news is, so long as you are not suffering from an underlying condition, by improving your diet and employing some natural treatments, you will be able to reduce your production of prostaglandins, and enjoy pain-free periods.⠀
You shouldn't have to suffer through your period every month, or feel the need to reach for hormonal birth control to mask what is really going on. That's why I am creating my 12-week Hormone Harmony eCourse to help you learn how to naturally reduce period pain, regulate your cycle and your hormones and feel like yourself again! 💃🏼 ⠀
My eCourse will be launched in the next few months. In pain right now and can't wait a few months? I got you girl - have a read of my Top 5 Tips for Naturally Reducing Period Pain blog linked in my bio to start getting on top of your pain today, then learn how to build this even further when my course is released. Can't wait to share all of this hormone-loving content with you all soon! 💕⠀
“PCOS FRIENDLY” MY ASS ✋🏼
Do you ever get overwhelmed by the huge amount of conflicting info out there about doing xyz differently because you have PCOS?
I have an easy way to get around it: IGNORE THAT CRAP.
PCOS is a metabolic disorder characterized by a range of symptoms, but driven by a complicated set of internal imbalances all driven by stress.
These imbalances effect the way that we metabolize nutrients and energy, which results in a domino effect, eventually leading to hormonal dysregulation. Which leads to our body telling us something is wrong in the form of symptoms like weight gain, acne, hair loss, hirsutism, etc.
This looks very different for every woman with PCOS. If someone is identifying you by your condition, instead of the complicated set of imbalances in YOUR own body driving YOUR specific condition, run like forest gump in the opposite direction.
I DO NOT “eat for PCOS”. I eat like a grown woman who deserves good food that satisfies me and contains the nutrients my body needs to thrive. I eat to honor my digestion and fuel my metabolism because I deserve NOTHING less than to feel amazing andnourished, not because I identify myself by my condition.
We’ve got to stop doing anything “for PCOS” and start doing things because PCOS was our body’s wake up call that it needs and deserves more than the status quo.
I felt like a roast beef sandwich, so I’ve got gluten free bread, grass fed roast beef, avo, tomato, coconut oil mayo and mustard. DELISH 👌🏼
