He was in my office because he was struggling to close business.

He went into this super technical jargon filled speech.
Some people elaborate too much because they can some do it out of insecurity.
It doesn't matter why you do it. Just STOP. Clients don't care about all the lingo and your advanced degrees as much... They want to be educated and understood.
What is a Broker/Agent of Record (BOR/AOR)? It depends on if you (the broker/agent) are talking to a prospect about a BOR for an entire policy of a carrier BOR. Regardless of a policy or carrier BOR, you need to get a signed letter from the insured with the insured’s letterhead at the top.
A policy BOR is when an insured signs off on you getting a particular insurance carrier(s) to work with for the insured’s renewal. Typically you would use a carrier BOR when a competing broker “blocks/shotguns the market” (submits to every insurance carrier) and the carrier BOR would allow you to work with the carrier mentioned in the carrier BOR.
A policy BOR is simply when an insured fires their current broker and hires you. They do this by inputting their letterhead and signing a BOR Letter. Typically there is a five to ten day waiting period before you officially become the insured’s new broker, unless the other broker waived the waiting period. #insurance#insurancebroker#insuranceagent

General Liability: 1) 5 years of currently valued loss runs; 2) liability acords; 3) square footage of occupied buildings / gross sales of each occupied building (dependent on risk); 4) most recent audited financials
Workers Compensation: 1) 5 years of currently valued loss runs; 2) expiring / projected payroll by class code (subject to workers compensation audit); 3) workers compensation acord; 4) updated experience modification factor (ex-mod)

There aren’t many millennials that I know that can say they’ve been in the insurance industry as long as I have and absolutely love it. I have no regrets, I just wish that I looked into my benefits and compensation plan in detail and fully understood and compared it to what else is offered in the industry based on my wants. Spending years building a business thinking that the “residuals” “vesting” and “owning” your business was actually true just to find out what it all really meant was more of a discouragement then a celebration. That is why I am adamant about sharing the best business model in the financial industry for those whom are looking to build a business.
I’m not here to bash companies,I’ve been around long enough, been mentored by business coaches and leaders, have read enough leadership and business books to understand that is not how to grow your business. There is a business model that fits your desire, and I respect that.
