Sierra and Jenny's Fourth of July wedding was and still is an incredible and long-time favorite wedding of mine over the years. This wedding is on the blog today and as usual, I've shared way too many photos. They include the gorgeous mountains of Telluride, balloon fun, and zorbing...I'm not sure it can get any better. #carrieswailsphotography

Enjoyed capturing Isobel and Joshua’s @timberlinelodge sunrise elopement this past weekend. Congrats to the newlyweds ✨ A treat to stay at the lodge overnight and take in the beauty of the history and catching first light.
I’m so incredibly excited for my season to get started this year. So many business dreams are coming true in 2020, including some killer travels which I’m so thankful for and so excited about! It’s crazy to look back and take in how far this little biz has come. 🌄
- Funny story -
A teacher asks 4 grade Disco Dave Ivey (my dad) “What nationality are you David?”
Disco responds “well ma’am, half Cowboy, half Indian.”
Teacher replies “Oh really, how so?”
Disco answers back “My great grandmother was a Cherokee Indian princess & my great grandfather was from Texas. So that must mean I am part Cowboy & Indian!”
I literally have not stopped laughing since my dad told me this. Those of you who know my family will enjoy a little more. Indian princess 😂 what!!!
Have a great Tuesday ♥️

Almost every wedding out there is influenced by the latest bridal trends, whether that comes through in decor the bride's gown, the wedding party looks, or the theme. In the last 10 years, we've seen a lot of wedding trends come and donut walls and naked cakes covered in real flowers seem to have run their course but a few are carrying over into 2020. These just might spark some inspiration for your own event
Flowers at a wedding? 22% of couples used hanging greenery and 16% of couples sprang for a floral or greenery & flower wall at their wedding.
MIX-AND-MATCH WEDDING PARTY STYLES
Traditionally, bridesmaids have worn the same dress in the same color. But in the last decade, we saw a big change in that: it became more popular for bridesmaids to wear all different styles of a dress in the same color or the same color family, and sometimes even all different colors that complement each other, with 53% of wedding parties going this route.
Planning a wedding in a dream location has never been as popular as it was this past decade. Half of the couples out there had a destination wedding, which are particularly popular in the United States. According to Spector, it's because couples today love to travel, and, as she said, there's no better excuse to go on the trip of a lifetime than your wedding.
Hashtags are now just one more detail couples need to think up while wedding planning and most start formulating ideas as soon as they get engaged. A hashtag centered around the couples' names is part of almost every wedding now 77% of couples choose one.
The days when a wedding simply consisted of a ceremony and a party with dinner and dancing are long gone. In fact, 3/4 of couples added at least one additional event to their wedding weekend, whether it was brunch the morning after, a welcome party the night before, or an after-party that went late into the night.
We love many things about Australia, but especially its beaches and forests! Which might explain why we have a large stock of woods from all over Australia, for example Sydney Blue Gum, pictured here in matt titanium on eucalyptus.
Details may be one of my most favorite things to photograph. He spent so much time picking out that ring. You spent so much time picking out the perfect flowers & your florist spent hours arranging them in the best way. You spent months analyzing color schemes, accent colors and invitations that were pure elegance.
You can definitely see the passion and dedication of everyone who came together to make your big day happen in the details ✨
Happy Mardi Gras! Wishing we could be back there but here’s a fun snap by @emilydelamater showing off our love for NOLA pastries. The King Cake macaroons at our wedding by @saltandlightpastryco were also incredible (as was everything she made for us). ✨ So much love for that enchanting city.

Let me tell you a secret.
I had never hiked this trail before I got up and met Chris & Meredith before sunrise at Crater Lake.
But what I did know what the elevation gain per mile, the foot by foot terrain, number of switchbacks, where the views were and where I was going to place myself and the two of them. I also knew how long it would take to get up to the top of the lookout and how many breaks we might need.
It goes to show that just because some photographers haven't been to a place before, doesn't mean they don't know exactly what it'll look like. Get one that does. Ask those questions during your consult. Do your due diligence.
Please, for the love of all that's holy, get an adventure elopement photographer that knows how to research topography, has hiking experience, and will go the extra mile to arrive and scout the location in the days prior if they haven't been there (yes, I have literally hiked up mountains the day before to do a dry run and confirm any uncertain spots). You will be so much more relaxed knowing that you're ready to meet anything that comes your way on the trail. ⛰

Anzeige| "I have these two neighbors and they're married and they gotta be like in their late 30's and I'm making dinner and I look out the window and they're running around outside in their pajamas and bare feet with water pistols soaking each other and laughing so loud it made me realize I'm wasting my time trying to make relationships perfect when all that's really needed is someone who will laugh with me for the rest of my life." .

When your neighbors fly out to California just to take pictures with you in the blossoms!!!
From the first day we met these two at a neighborhood party we knew this would turn into an amazing friendship!!! But little did we know that we’d have new travel friends that are up for crazy adventures with us!!! Today was so dreamy and unforgettable that we are already planning our next trip together 💗
But for now, we’ll stare at these pictures for a little while 💗💗💗 #luisassecretbrides#almondblossoms#almondblossom#californiaweddingphotographer

One of my favourite photos from the weekend. We all hopped in a four wheel drive and bush bashed around the paddocks heading to the top of the hill to catch the sun set. Often I shoot with the sun behind the couple to get some flare or rim lighting, but it’s also nice to move around your subjects to get a different perspective. I love clouds as they create texture to an image. Getting the couple to face the light makes them enjoy the sun set and creates a feeling of peace and silence in what is a busy day ☁️ ⛅️ ☁️
