Looking forward to a few winter weddings I have coming up this year! I love summer, I do, with its long days and sunsets. But there is always something special about a cosy winter wedding with fires lit, lots of candles everywhere, mulled wine and good food :) This winter I'm in @the_johnstown_estate, @ballynahinchcastle for a destination wedding and @clonabreany. Can't wait!
Sticking with the November theme posts, I wanted to put together some rustic, winter or autumn wedding decoration ideas I love. I’ll definitely be trying some of these on our next diy day.
I associate winter with lots of fairy lights, candles and foliage. In November the flowers that are in season and would look beautiful incorporated into your wedding are Delphinium, Gerbera, Iris. There are many more but these are beautiful and bright so a great way to add a splash of colour, also Lily’s and Peonies make for a striking bouquet. Definitely speak to you florist to find the best flowers in season as this usually means the flowers will look their best plus cost less. I also love having lots of foliage as the green looks so beautiful and costs significantly less also.
As always I’m absolutely in love with pampas grass and it’s so beautiful for all seasons. Why not add some texture by including some pampas to your centrepieces or displays. This neutral tone really stands out amongst the darker wedding look, plus some people have it around their house too so you might be able to or bring your own for free.
In terms of November decorations I love the wooden theme is perfect for winter, as it creates a warm and cosy atmosphere including lots of gold, Rose gold and sparkles of course. Ladder displays for decorations and lots of jars for candles or fairy lights are a lovely touch for the colder months. So much of it is easy to make yourself too and I can’t wait for the lead up to the wedding to get a group of friends and family together and start creating the decorations.
Another great style is the chalk board with florals. The black background and colourful flowers looks so classy and elegant if this was your preferred style over rustic and cosy, with some foliage added to brighten the look.
I hope you enjoy looking through the pictures and let me know your favourite style below. If you are getting married or got married in autumn or winter let us know what flowers and decorations you have gone for. I love all the different ideas and styles and the personal touch everyone adds to their own big day. #wedding#winterwedding#autumnwedding#irishwedding#irishbride
A seven(!)-piece band of bagpipers played for Emma & Ian's entrance to the reception along with a performance by a classic Irish dancer. It was a unique and memorable addition to their wedding honoring their heritage! ⠀
