While I was cooking dinner last night, my son came running in with a little yellow flower in his hand. He had a huge smile on his face as he handed it to me. It brought him such joy and of course made me light up. Oftentimes, we wait for a birthday or special occasion to give someone a ‘happy’ but what if we picked them a flower or wrote them a note or sent them a text just when we are thinking of them. How often do we think about doing something but forget but what if, instead of overcomplicating things, we simply took 5 minutes to write a note or send a text or call a friend. One of my best friends called me earlier and it made my day. She was leaving Costco and called to check in. The little things really do go so far. .
Can you pick a flower today to give to someone just because? Can you send them a text? Can you take a few minutes and call a friend? Can you tag a friend to let them know you’re thinking of them?

‘When a man moves away from nature his heart becomes hard.’ – Lakota
Classing up my right paw with the epic mood ring my husband bought me. Whoever said three bucks can't buy a sense of childlike wonder, a rush of nostalgia, and a piece of jewelry that tells me through the mystical language of color that I am "cranky, yet hopeful" is not living life to the fullest. #itsthelittlethings#moodring#childhoodmemories#betterthantherapy
How cute is thissss?!?! When Nick & I 1st started talking my sassy ass told him there wasn't room for him in my bed because I have so many pillows. (I had 17 at the time 😳) I've since sacrificed SOME of my pillows so that he may sleep comfortably in our bed. Lol. I've always had an obsession with a big fluffy bed with lots of pillows and soft fluffy blankets. Yesterday, he surprised me with a new fluffy blanket because my other one "was looking a little sad". The color and words match our living room decor.. I just ADORE this man, his attentiveness, and his love for me. 🥰 #itsthelittlethings #hessoperfect #lifeisfuckingbeautiful #hisprincess #blessedwiththebest

“You’re my little pumpkin pie, you make my life so sweet” - Natalie Marshall 📚
A picture has the magic to make a moment last forever .... and oh, this picture does just that! 🧡
We’ve not long hit send on Alfie’s secondary school application and whilst scrolling for this photo, I stumbled across a picture I took the morning of his first day at school💔 It honestly feels like only yesterday. After we sent the application he turned and said “Mum, I’m not ready for secondary school!” I think that makes two of us darling 🖤
Thankful for the nights where I go to bed early and I'm mostly asleep but barely awake enough to feel the kisses and hugs that you give me before you roll over and get on your phone until you fall asleep ❤ #itsthelittlethings
Had one of those days today where I've let the stupid get to me and been a bit teary- no idea why maybe lack of sleep, maybe its my body's hormones being all over, who knows... but you pop on a smile and do your best for the little ones. You get home to then recieve the most beautiful message like this from someone at work... so, to you if you read this thank you for being so sweet, this was 100% what i needed to hear and i didnt even know it. You are a super star and i hope you know i appreciate all you do to help!
I think with everything that has gone on the past few months with all the losses we have had in our family I have made doing and making my therapy. There's just building about doing things with your own hands. It is very fulfilling.
I just thought I could never do it until I was driving down the road one day. I started thinking about how I would like to have a few things built and a few other projects in our house finished. I was tired of waiting on other people's schedules to work out to do it all.
And it hit me that I could do it. 💡
I could do the work.
I could work the saw.
I could cut the pieces.
I could use the nail and staple guns.
I could do it.
I didn't need to wait on anyone.
I had all the tools at my disposal, but it was up to me to pick them up and use them.
It was like the Lord was whispering to me, "Sister, I've already given you everything you need. I'm just waiting on you." Isn't it so true of life? He has already given us all the tools we need, but we have to pick them up. We have to choose to use them. We keep waiting on other people to do the things that we can do ourselves.
Sometimes manna falls from the sky, and sometimes we have to do the work.
Don't ever sell yourself short.
You've got this. Whatever it is.
It's amazing what can happen when we finally take the leap and do. --->Head to the blog to see how to make your own entry table!www.fixerupperfarmhouse.com

So this morning the sunrise was so beautiful! I was already at work so I didn't have my phone to take a picture and was kinda bummed about it. Got off work and out to my car and had a message from my husband... It was a picture of the sunrise. ❤️❤️❤️ #myhusbandisthebest#itsthelittlethings
#ad The new Pictionary Air from @Mattel has us in stitches! It's hilarious watching the little ones really get into it, trying to get us to guess what they're drawing. And vice versa when mom and dad are having fun getting creative.
I love that it's a great game for any age and at any skill level. The answers are kept simple to encourage everyone to play! All you need is the Pictionary Air drawing pen, cards and smartphone/tablet/device to download the free app. et voilà easy, fun game you can take with you anywhere.
How lucky I am to be loved by you! 260 days until we are the Johnston’s 👰🏽🤵🏽@madsthesedays 📸

My sweet Sawyer Elizabeth (aka: beanie bean) is two and half! I took this photo right before she got hit with the stomach bug - poor thing. I can’t even believe how big she is 🥺. She talks to me like a 2 year old going on 20 these days 💁🏼♀️. I feel so blessed to be this sweet, spirited girl’s mama 💖 #sawyerelizabethgrows
It really is Effing Simple to have a good life. Often, the simple “little things” we ignore can create the biggest change.

The view from the breakfast-bench today, where a friend and I ate muffins and pretended not to see Henry (who turns one tomorrow and will be getting a xylophone) dropping blueberries into the open thermos. We were surrounded by the irreverently pointy Victorian houses in Lonsdale Square, whose roofs look like a cardiogram, and the sound of someone having a singing lesson. Hours later and nothing - not the radio, not Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban on audio book, not silence except for the baby sorting blocks and the mounted police officers clomping - nothing - will shift the Pirates of Penzance.
That's right! Each of us get to decide when enough is enough. ❤️

My husband surprised the boys with pumpkins yesterday. It’s not always an easy thing to find here in Norway. Halloween is not celebrated. No pumpkin patches, no costumes and no trick or treating for us, but we can have one tradition this season and that’s craving pumpkins. 🎃 #itsthelittlethings

Saw this idea floating around Instagram this summer (message me if it was you... I can't find it anymore!) and after picking up 4,623 pencils off the floor last Friday, I knew something had to give.
I bought these toothbrush holders from @dollartree, numbered them with a @sharpie, and told the kids to find 5 pencils. Within minutes my floor was clean. 🤣
Rules are: I only sharpen pencils on Fridays unless all 5 are broken. 5 pencils in your container means a piece of candy or 2 Matrix Dollars. I have not picked up a single pencil off the floor since Monday! 🙌 #itsthelittlethings
