I remember when I used to be TERRIFIED 😟 to attach my name to my social media accounts.
Nadéjiah Towns (nuh-DAY-juh TOWNZ) is probably one of the most uncommon names you can find 🙃. If you google me right now there will be no confusion. Whatever you find it's me, friend. I am her.
I managed to clean up my social media over the years, so if you Google me now, you'll likely find my Commencement speech from 2015 👩🏽🎓, a few articles about my involvement in college, and some throwback pictures.
Here's the thing, I came up with the rise of the internet. I was constantly told to watch what I put online. Everyone around me talked about professionalism so much that I felt like I couldn't be AUTHENTIC online. Especially not with my name tied to an account. So I made nicknames and set my accounts to private. It seemed like the right thing to do. I didn't share too many opinions or make connections with new people because...trust was always a concern.
But becoming an entrepreneur has changed that for me. I realize that I have the potential to impact so many people I haven't met yet and they may never find me if I'm hiding behind a private account or disconnecting my authentic self from my brand. I want people to relate to my story and learn from what I have to share. Besides, as an online business owner, what’s the point of doing such great work when people can’t even see it when they look me up?

This is an open personality type question which is asking for a little more information about you than is obvious from your Resume.
This can provide an excellent opportunity to talk about some personal activity or achievement which is non work related, which gives some clues as to your personality and at the same time shows the interviewer that you possess the key skills and characteristics required in the role.
Be mindful however to avoid talking about irrelevant achievements no matter how close they are to your heart as you may come across as flippant.
“Action will destroy your procrastination.” — Og Mandino
Telling myself that I produce my best work under pressure is my way of excusing this bad habit of mine. Most times I'm super productive, but boy oh boy do I get stressed.
Each week I'm pumped, motivated and ready to conquer the world. Then, my alarm goes off on Monday morning and "I'll do it tomorrow." The stress of it all has made me give up on some things altogether.
Many of my clients wait until last minute to update their resumes too. By the time they reach out to me, the job has been posted for weeks, their most recent resume is 3 jobs behind and they are in complete panic mode.
Here's how I snap out of it....sometimes.
+ I make a list of what I need to get done (usually on my phone versus writing a list because...procrastination)
+ I break bigger tasks into digestible pieces. Less really is more.
+ I set realistic deadlines with a teeny tiny buffer.
+ I use my phone alarm for reminders.
+ When all else fails, I ask a friend/colleague for help or to be my accountability partner.
It's better to BE ready than to GET ready in your job search — especially with your career documents and networking.
How do you ward off procrastination stress?
Interview tips # 10 - Treat every single person you encounter with respect.
This includes people on the road and in the parking lot, security personnel and front desk staff. Treat everyone you don’t know as though they’re the hiring manager. Even if they aren’t, your potential employer might ask for their feedback.

1️⃣ Know how to explain how you’ve implemented your skills in the workplace (i.e. for Excel - “I have used excel to keep track of weekly sales for the last 8 months.) -
2️⃣ ALWAYS write a cover letter even if it’s optional. Even if they don’t read it, they know you’ve gone above and beyond other candidates! -
3️⃣ Even if it’s a phone interview, DRESS THE PART! The more professional you feel, the more professional you’ll sound, I promise. -
4️⃣ ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS send a thank you email to whomever you interviewed with. (I had 6 interviews in one day for my current job and I emailed EVERY SINGLE PERSON!) -

I remember the interview process for the job I had at Google as if it was yesterday. I was so nervous and it was my dream job (plus I kind of had all of my eggs in that basket - something I would never advise anyone to do)
The biggest job interview advice I can give you from that experience is to do your research - make sure that you read/watch everything you can find about the company and the team you're applying for.
You want to make sure that you understand the company culture and values, what your role would entail, who you would be working with and what's happening with the company and that team/department in general. That includes competitors, innovations, threats, opportunities, etc. .
Do a SWOT (Strengths Weaknesses Opportunities Threats) analysis if you'd like. And come prepared with questions. Don't ask questions for the sake of asking them, if you're truly interested in the company and what they do, you will have genuine questions out of curiosity.
That is what I did when I was going through the interview process myself and some of my future colleagues (who interviewed me at the time) told me that they found the way I was prepared very impressive. Not only it helps you with the interview, but it also shows that you really want this role at this company 😉
