Time: 18 minutes... These daily drawings are going to be an attempt to do quick sketches to try new things, perspectives, brushes, etc. And hone the craft. Speed is of the essence and hopefully brainstorm some idears along the way!
My relationship with Lemon Balm began a few years ago after a traumatic incident. That moment led to a lot of uncomfortable nerve damage and fare ups, uneasy G.I. issues, horrible anxiety; you name it. My friend had given it to me in tea form, another had recommended I bathe in it--and so it began.. .
Earlier this year a friend of mine allowed me to harvest a good amount from their loving garden, and it was then that my first elixir was born!---(Well, not exactly then---it takes 6-8+ weeks of the shakes for a tincture to cure. 👀) .
What makes an Elixir different than a Tincture, is that it has been sweetened to reduce the lingering alcohol kickback. This batch was sweetened with a Organic Raw Honey Simple Syrup I made at home.
Tinctures and Elixirs can be ingested a few ways. I prefer to take a dropper full under my tongue once a day--I don't mind any bitter or tartness. You may put a droppers worth in a glass of water, or a cup of tea to burn off some of the alcohol as well. .

Ruled by the Moon and of the element Water; a herb for the Cancerians ~ Lemon balm is considered the herb of Compassion. It is used in rituals associated with healing, health, friendship, love, and success. .
Lemon Balm is used for those who give out too much love, to encourage more of a balance, as well as for those who are unable to receive love. The herb works on the emotional heart, bringing balance and an overall lightness. Give to those who worry, who regularly feel overwhelmed by life and all of its challenges. It can allow focus and a certain stability in the thought processes, allowing a calm center in the eye of the storm.
Lemon Balm contains the active compound "rosmarinic acid" - an enzyme which effectively increases GABA (gamma amino-butyric acid) in the brain. GABA is one of the inhibitory neurotransmitters, used by the brain to prevent over-excitement and attain balance. It is responsible for ensuring that we are not overly stressed and plays a role in sleep cycles. Increasing stimulation of GABA receptors will produce a sedative or calming effect and explains why Lemon Balm works well as an anti-anxiety herb.
Beautiful night view of Kansas City! Got 16 miles on this urban exploration ride! Saw the gravel side of kc and the west bottoms. The west bottoms smells are so lovely this time of year! #kansascity#adorablebikes#kawriver#moriver

When you’ve been studying on and off all week and have the sweetest reminder of things most important in life when babysitting. It’s moments like playing our version of Wonder Pets with a toy hedgehog named Skittles who likes to roast hot dogs over a campfire and a chameleon named Blueberry who rolls everywhere on a cookie instead of walking because it made them laugh. And there’s the magic. The magic of Christmas. Of types of animals. Of places in the world. Of figuring out South Africa must be in the lower part of Africa, because of the “South.” The fact that directions can be remembered by "never eat soggy worms" or "never east soggy watermelon." It’s eating grilled cheese in tomato soup. Bobbing for apples and suggesting having a who can drink the water fastest afterwards contest (that was vetoed...hahaha). It’s moments when the mom you babysit for tells you that she is so thankful for you and that the way I interact with her children is so sweet. That she can tell I really listen to them when they talk. That I give them space to be heard. That her daughter tells her I always laugh. It’s moments like these that make my heart swell. Moments I’m reminded of the quote be soft. Do not let the bitterness steal your sweetness. I still believe the world is a beautiful place | 12.5.19 #vsco#kansascity#missouri#slash#snowpicfrom#minneapolis#minnesota#besoft#sosweet#babysitting#journaling#loveyouall

The Fall 2019 ACTING ONE Class invites you to attend our FINAL PRESENTATIONS... Monday Dec. 9th at 10:15am in the Dance Studio (HODES 157)! We hope you can make it.
Last night I went to @parlorkcmo for some pop up yoga with @karmatribeyogakc and my original yoga mentor, @laurenleducyoga . Lauren was my original teacher for yoga teacher training. It was such a blessing to see her. Show up at a public class like anybody else who wants to see what yoga is about.
What I loved most about last night really - is that by taking her class again, I see how she has evolved. I love her training because she’s always growing. Always vulnerable to her process, but she leads like that - showing up as her vulnerable self. It's good for me to see this in her, because it shows me we are always growing.
And now I have some experience to draw from. She’s cueing but I am thinking “oh I do this this way now”. But this is her class and before I know it, I notice how it’s different or how it’s the same. I am home here, even as a bigger woman in an exercise class. She has made space for me again.
After the class, talking to Lauren once again showed me what it means to be authentic. There’s just so many wonderful things about having a yoga practice. It is a practice. You are always doing it. So coming back to my yoga mat, to do yoga reminded me I am always a student. But also, sometimes I get to be the teacher. Sometimes it’s a night out with friends where you take no pictures (because this is what happened after the yoga class) but later you realize there really were wonderful moments.
You always have to show up to be seen. And as the practice evolves, we evolve. And it doesn’t always look like you thought it would, but that can be really beautiful. And maybe I’ll just talk in cliches for hours, but I had a really great night at pop up yoga with some really cool people on Tuesday. I’m really grateful even though I wish sometimes I could just rush to the end of the story and know what happens. But it’s a practice, and if it’s a practice, aren’t we all just evolving?

Happy birthday bruhtheren! Damn we had some good times since I’ve been back! Also this camera lens did something weird. Caught me on the unfocused outer part of the lens that makes your arms look small. Looking forward to more pumps 💪🏿

Walking by 14th and Baltimore you can smell the stale cigarettes, Naugahyde and wood paneling from the ‘60s oozing from this place.
