Mountainscapes are always mesmerizing whichever continent I’m on. The Lake Louise view, with its distant glaciers, ethereal beauty, and timelessness really stopped me in my tracks. Must see it again in the summertime! ⠀

|❣️| • I remember the first time someone with a significant amount of followers answered my DM.
I was over the moon - like,
I told my mom about it.
It was a big deal!
It's been years and I remember it so vividly. For some reason, this woman I'd never met, acknowledged my existence and it made me feel important - validated, like I mattered.
Because somehow the amount of people who "like" her made her worthy of deciding my own self worth. That was my validation - she was a "big deal"
However, I quickly realized the negative outcomes of giving others the power to decide who I was.
Numbers don't matter.
We are all human - bodies of life.
Our basic needs are to be loved and wanted but,
A certain number of followers,
A number on the scale,
A phone number that never replies...
Will never be the answer if you don't love yourself, first.
You are a big deal.❤️
He has same sticker on his Phone. Was same to me. It’s my favorite 👏💜
It’s kinda my hobby correcting stickers.

Should be having my coffee and amaretto right now 😴 but here I am working
Looking very forward to having a few more days off at christmas and spending them at home!
Finishing this one was a struggle for me and I’m still not 100% sure I like it but @timcarlielle says I should probably stop painting different parts of it over and over again. It ended up being a very finicky, tight, line-filled painting and while it was fun I’m looking forward to my next painting being a lot looser and freer. I also would not normally work in such a blue-dominated pastel colour scheme but it’s always good to try new things and everything is a learning experience.
If you’ve been to @skilouise you’ll recognize the view of Mount Temple from the front side of the ski hill. Temple is one of those big hefty mountains that always seems to generate its own clouds and its majestic peak looms over the whole Bow Valley in the Lake Louise area. From the ski hill it looks like Temple is a smallish mountain rising above a magical land of clouds when really it’s just so huge the peak is above the cloud line which is itself far above the valley bottom. “Temple Above the Clouds”, 11x14 inch acrylic on canvas. First painting of 2020!
Even though I’ve lived in Alberta for over seven years now, I still feel so lucky every single day to be a short distance from mountains like this. There really is nothing like the mountains in winter to make you feel so small and yet a part of everything. Winter mountains are still, immense, majestic, peaceful, dangerous. And endangered, too, sadly. It’s hard to say what kind of mountain winters the next generations will see, and I hope we as a species can make re changes needed to ensure there’s still snow on these beauties over the next few decades.
