Fanove are big piles of wood that burn every year on the night of the 11th of January in Castellana Grotte, Puglia. The event recalls the miracle granted by the Madonna della Vetrana, who according to the ancient popular tradition saved Castellana from the plague in 1961. On this night, a hundred bonfires lights up the night and turns everything red, people dance around the fire and wine never stops running.

From a fun but cold shoot back in November - George and I met when I was working as a photographer in clubs when I first moved to Montréal three years ago. Can't really believe it's already been three years that I've lived here... guess time really does fly when you're having fun haha
Some more snaps from my shoot with Kim a few days into the new year. Can't believe it's already mid-January, I haven't even made my new year's resolutions yet... if I had made any I probably would've broken them all by now anyways 😅😬
Took some portraits of my friend Dustin when I was in Portland for Christmas. Everytime we see eachother the classic "how long have we known each other" question comes up as we try and trace back exactly when or how we first met. And the reality is, we usually just give up and decide on around 2012 or 2013. But it's crazy to think just how long I've known some of my friends vs how long I've actually lived in the same city as them. I lived in Portland for only 2 of the 7 or 8 years we've been friends which is pretty wild. What's your longest long-distance friendships?
A blue doorway and the beautiful Julie-Anne from a shoot in Old Port in early December. Which is your favourite – 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5?

Got to take some portraits of this boss babe earlier this week. Question for all my Montrealers, can you tell where this was taken?

This is probably the most I've gone back and forth on a picture between a black & white vs colour edit. Still going back and forth between them as I write this caption haha v curious which one do you all like best?

Some studio headshots in the apartment of the beautiful Aiesha. Which is your favourite? 1,2,3, or 4?

A suit and some sunlight in the apartment ✨ Sometimes I get caught up seeing the elaborate portraits that people create (major props to all the photogs who do this). But it was one of those things that I started getting down on myself about and I kept thinking - I need to start doing more creative and crazy portraits for people to like my work or recognize it. But the reality is, that's just not me or my style. Creating can feel exhausting in that we always want to make something no one else has, but trying to push your style to be like others isn't the way to do it. As long as you like and resonate with the art or content you create, you're already in that sweet-spot. And I've had to remind myself of that over and over in this content heavy world we're in everyday. So here's just some straightforward no frills portraits of my friend Ariane in the sunshine in my apartment.

I feel like I say this too often, but this has to be one of my favourite portraits I've taken in the past year. It's been so much fun photographing friend's of mine and getting to share your perspective of someone you know through a portrait. Especially in a day and age where we take so many pictures with our phones, being able to take a picture that really sticks for someone, that they really see themselves represented in is one of my favourite things about taking people's portraits. So thank you to my beautiful friends who have let me take portraits of them over the last year, and all the years before 💛 (ps: swipe for those details)

The only problem Ariane and I have when we shoot together is trying to pick which photos to share, because there's always way too many good ones haha. These are only a few from this look from our shoot last month - which one is your fave? 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5?

Julien outside a dep from a night shoot back in October. @jucavan is a new photographer friend I met back in the summer here on Instagram. We followed eachother's work, and then met up to take some pictures - I forget that most people don't usually makes friends like this, but for the photography & creative communities, it's so common I don't even think twice about it. I mean, remember when insta-meets were a thing? Look how much we've calmed down since then lol

Sunshine staredown with this babe 👀 Everytime winter rolls around I forget how much the sun setting at 4pm affects me - not only with the whole picture taking situation but just with my vibe in general. Anybody got any tips to combat lack of daylight laziness?
PS: Per usual swipe for them detailsss ✨
