✨”Virtue is Bold and Goodness is Fearful” - This quote is taken from Measure for Measure, a play by William Shakespeare, written in 1603 or 1604. ✨
👉In act 3 scene 1 a dialog between Duke Vincentio says to Isabella "Virtue is bold, and goodness never fearful. Have you not heard speak of Mariana, the sister of Frederick the great soldier who miscarried at sea?"
❗️ It means those who are virtuous and approach things with good intent are never afraid, they are driven by their goodness and thus overcome their fears. ❤️
In context Duke Vincentio is replying to Isabella "Let me hear you speak farther. I have spirit to do anything that appears not foul in the truth of my spirit."💫

-- 28th February -- "We are only as strong as we are united, as weak as we are divided." ❤
Finally finished this off the other night. Stayed up until late to finish it and paid for it the next day 😅 worth it 😅. I also wanted to show you my new Harry Potter playing cards 😍 I found them in Wilko and I just had too 🤩 💙
I'm really enjoying reading this series again. I'm glad I decided to re-read them 🤗 💚
I'm learning that it is not selfish or lazy to give my body and mind exactly what it needs 💜 and this is exactly what I needed yesterday 😌
You cannot pour from an empty cup, so do something lovely for yourself 🥰
What initially attracted me to Lost in the Spanish Quarter was the word ‘Spanish’ in the title because I love the Spanish language, culture & Spain as a country...turns out it ain’t got nothing to do with Spain & is set in the Spanish Quarter in Naples.
Regardless, I really loved this book & funnily enough it reminded me a lot of the time I spent living in Spain. It’s basically a love story - Heddi, an American living in Naples meets Pietro, a local (ish) boy. They have some serious chemistry & quickly fall in love however we know from the start it hasn’t worked out between them by way of the exchange of emails between them sprinkled through the novel. The novel gradually tells their story & man, could I relate to being in love with the wrong man in a beloved European city 💔
Goodrich clearly adores Naples & in particular the Spanish Quarter of that city. She evokes the city & people so well that I felt like I was a fly on the wall of her life there. Goodrich, who now lives in New Zealand, in fact spent 10 years living in Naples & very impressively wrote this novel in Italian then translated it into English herself.
Contadme ☺️
Happy Friday! It’s almost the end of the month, so it must be time for book of the month.
As some of you will know, I’ve decided to read books that are already waiting very patiently on my book shelves. ( This is difficult as the new Hilary Mantel is coming out and the new Alison Weir in April I think). I digress 😄.
So my book for February and book of the month is Life Class by Pat Barker.
Set before the First World War and charts the life and relationships of a group of friends who meet at the Slade school of Art before the war.
Its in two parts before and during the war and their relationships and the different paths they take. The themes intertwine art and war and personal relationships.
I had really enjoyed Pat Barker’s First World War Trilogy Regeneration, but found this a bit of a struggle at first, maybe it had been sitting on the shelf too long; but i grew into it. I now know this book is part of a trilogy too.
Has any one else read it? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
Have a great weekend. #bookish#whatimreadingnow#booksaremybag#booksbooksbooks#books#bookshelf#theyearinbooks#myyearinbooks#lovetoread#headinabook#bookishrestorative#petitejoys#mysimplething#reading#booknerdigans
Hun dochter Nina is zes.
I mean Danica, seriously, do you have to post this?
I have a love-hate realtionship with my brain.
I don't know why even on days that I want it to rest and during the days it direly needs to rest, it still wants to work. It still wants to create. It still wants to overthink to the point of driving me bone marrow deep exhausted. I only want to do water meditation but I still couldn't help and play Straight Up podcast nor bring a book with me. Nor arrange something and take quick snappie of it. I am. Supposed to be resting. I am in the tub because of too much working but amidst attempts to rest, my brain still want to work. Why?
Time for a Friday meme 😊🥰 coz yay its finally Friday 🙆♀️ What a long week - the days were quick but the week was long (if that makes sense?) What are your plans for the weekend?
I've drinks this evening with work which is always good fun. Surprise drinks too for a significant birthday (not mine I hasten to add!) and then chilling for the weekend. We have a confirmation next weekend so we will be getting the house prepped for that! .
I'm also reading a book that was recommended, that I started lunchtime yesterday and will be finished this morning, a romance - a far cry from my last read!
Whatever your plans have a funtabulous Friday ❤🍷📚
☠️THE SEVEN DEATHS OF EVELYN HARDCASTLE by Stuart Turton☠️
Family and old friends are gathered at Blackheath. The day ends with the death of Evelyn Hardcastle. Our protagonist has to find out who killed her. He has 7 chances.
This was not a straightforward read. Set during one day, repeated over and over in a very clever way, things become complicated pretty quickly. Think Groundhog Day meets Black Mirror meets Agatha Christie... It was so good!!! I think there could be many spin offs from this one, but I can't wait to have an easy read next...
Thought I would show off this little book stack as Six of Crows was my top 2019 read and I hardly own any multiple copies of books so this shows off just how much I loved the duology!
I’m so glad it’s Friday. It’s felt like a long week for me and I went to a gig last night which definitely didn’t help as now I’m even more tired. What’s a girl to do eh?
I think I’m going to have a reading pause over the weekend (I hardly read then anyway) and then go back to The Priory of the Orange Tree. I hate that I’ve read a quarter and then just put it on hold; I can’t wait to pick it back up!
Also, I bloody love @ashandquillcandles and Kaz so I was very excited to show off my Kaz Brekker candle too. Only today and tomorrow left to use my rep code on purchase!
QOTD: Do you prefer paperback or hardbacks?
AOTD: For me paperbacks win because I commute and do most of my reading there so it’s just so much easier to lug around a paperback. That said hardbacks tend to be prettier and everyone wants them on their bookshelf, right?
GET OUR UNIQUE READING FORMULA TO IMPROVE YOUR CHILD’s READING SKILLS IN 90 DAYS. 🙋♀️🙋♂️ Ever experienced this... ❌ You talk to the school or child’s teacher about your child’s reading but nothing changes. ❌ The school puts in place some strategies to help your child improve their reading, but again, nothing really happens. ❌ You teach and support your child at home but it gets to be a struggle because your child does all the tricks they can to avoid learning to read. ❌ You get so frustrated that you end up feeling like you’re failing your child and give up because you really don’t know what to do. ❌ You attend school/teacher meetings every term, maybe every week but the school puts more and more responsibility on you to do your bit without coming up with solutions that actually work.
Honestly, I’ve been there and this parental and child roller coaster leads to emotional and physical burnout if you don’t find out the real reason why your child still can’t read.
Once I did, things really changed for me, my children and my students. So today I’ll do two (2) things:
# 1 show you the real reason why your child can’t read English
# 2 break down our unique reading formula that really does change our students lives every single time we teach them.
If you’re excited to get your hands on this, type ‘FORMULA’ in the chat below so I can see your name pop up.
Then I’ll find out the real reason why your child can’t read and show you how our unique formula generates amazing results every single time we deliver it.

Oh my goodness, how is it already the end of February?! I have some how missed my date on the blog tour for this fabulous book?!?
I must admit that I picked up Recipe for a Perfect Wife rather reluctantly, acting some what like a petulant child. It was simply because I HAD to read it and wasn’t necessarily what I was in the mood for. The title didn’t help and I think it undersells the book. It totally took me off guard and has gone straight to my top read of February, by a long stretch.
The story is written in a dual narrative, set across two very different periods, following Nellie and Alice; two “stay at home wives” living in the same house in the New York suburbia.
Not the light hearted read I had anticipated, covering tough issues such as miscarriage, domestic violence and sexual harassment but I nevertheless absolutely tore through the pages. I was instantly captivated by the story and felt a real connection to the characters; feeling their emotions and willing their situations to change.
You know you’re on to a good book when you stay up way past your bedtime to read it and wake up having had dreamt, so vividly, that you live the life of one of the characters.
It’s a book that has really stayed with me. Those perfect lives out in suburbia... it’s not always what it seems and what goes on behind closed doors should be discussed more openly.

Did you buy any exciting books this month?
I'm not buying a lot of books at the moment, but I did spot this for £1 second hand last weekend so I caved, I loved the look of this when it was first released but I just never got around to purchasing it 🤷🏻♀️ I haven't bought much else, although I have preordered the Forbidden Planet edition of Aurora Burning so there's that! 💛💛💛
🇬🇧 Do you use free libraries? Some of them are not used well here, more like a trash can. But I go and have a look everytime. You never know when to find a great book in between the mess. The one pictured was in Los Angeles and I think it looks beautiful!
Did you find this copy of Skyward at Melbourne Zoo?
We hope it didn't fly away before a new owner could find it!
About the book:
Spensa's world has been under attack for hundreds of years. An alien race called the Krell leads onslaught after onslaught from the sky in a never-ending campaign to destroy humankind. Humanity's only defense is to take to their ships and fight the enemy in the skies. Pilots have become the heroes of what's left of the human race.
Spensa has always dreamed of being one of them; of soaring above Earth and proving her bravery. But her fate is intertwined with her father's - a pilot who was killed years ago when he abruptly deserted his team, placing Spensa's chances of attending flight school somewhere between slim and none.
No one will let Spensa forget what her father did, but she is still determined to fly. And the Krell just made that a possibility. They've doubled their fleet, making Spensa's world twice as dangerous . . . but their desperation to survive might just take her skyward.
A note from the fairy:
Book drop! If you are at the Melbourne Zoo you can find @brandsanderson 's Skyward near the Macaw cafe.
I’m going to start by saying I have followed Jennifer’s writing since her ffic writing days and she has never failed to amaze me with her work. She is, by far (and imo) the best author writing sport/ya/contemporary books. Whether it’s tennis (her last books) or gymnastics (this book) she writes it in a way that really makes you not just envision everything, but makes you feel you’re there, watching the event play out.
This was an incredibly powerful read which takes on sexual assault, relationships, friendships, race, heartache, redemption and more. With a group of young woman fighting for their place on Team USA for the Olympics in gymnastics.
The theme of sexual assault, nothing graphic, was approached in a delicate way, something that had happened, but what we read is the after, how a group of young girls trying to work their way to achieve their dreams, work together, stand together and overcome something like sexual assault, especially from someone you put so much trust into.
The feeling of togetherness was inspiring, fighting for each other, willing to give up dreams for justice. Each character had a fiercely strong presence, they were both strong and at times felt weak but had so much determination.
There was a dash of romance, which was sweet, charming and funny but it didn’t take away focus.
What is your favorite Cassandra Clare book?
Thank you @simonteen for sending me an arc of Chain of Gold! I already read it and loved it!! The Infernal Devices are my faves so reading about the kids and group after them was awesome!
Are you excited for this one? How many copies do you have pre ordered? I have a couple!

Are you very organized?
I used to be much better at it than I am now. I feel like I have more stuff than space. Yet, I never want to get rid of stuff. My prop closet is a disaster and just overfilled. It sort of stresses me out looking at it. So, most of the time, I shove things in there and shut the door hoping when I open it again things don’t fly out.
It reminds me of that Friends episode where Chandler and Richard open Monica’s off-limit closet to find it is a complete mess.

Good evening, everyone! Apologies for the late post but today was a day and a half. I just now finished all I had to do today and got in bed. Figured I’d post real quick before I pass out!
qotd: do you switch up your bookmarks to fit each current read or do you have a favorite?
aotd: I have been using the same bookmark for over a year now. It’s this Polaroid printout I made of my favorite Darrow art. I’m sure you’ve seen it in my stories before! I love it and it always remind me of Red Rising no matter what other fictional world I’m visiting at the moment.
This brand new #ACOMAF bookmark is now available in my shop @dreaminabottle ! It is made out of sturdy semi-gloss material, has decorative cutouts and is designed by yours truly as always! Make sure to grab one! And good news for my international friends, prints and bookmarks now have a flat shipping fee of $2.00. No more paying more than the price of the item! Huge thank you to @onwednesdayswereadbooks for helping me figure this out! I haven’t had a chance to update all the listings yet, but I’ll be doing that in the next few days! Keep an eye out!
QOTD: Do you read one book at a time or several?
Seventeen-year-old Rose Hemmersbach, who aspires to break out of small town Sparta, Wisconsin and achieve her artistic dreams at Belwyn School for the Arts. Painting is Rose’s escape from her annoying younger siblings and her family’s one rule: ignore the elephant in the room, because talking about it makes it real.

Hello everyone and happy Monday! Somehow, even when you don’t have a traditional job-thingy, this day still manages to suck! So, I’ll be listening to some music once I finish my evening class and catching up on some orders!
qotd: if you listen to music while reading, what is your favorite soundtrack?
aotd: I usually prefer silence, but if there are people talking next to me I turn to music. I usually try to find music that fits the mood of the book I’m reading so a lot of the times it’ll be the soundtrack of a movie with a similar mood. Some of my favorites are the TRON soundtrack for sci-fi and LOTR for fantasy!
These gorgeous headphones were sent to me by Sudio and I could not be more pleased with them! I chose these because not only can they be used as Bluetooth headphones, they can also be used with a cord! Which, personally, being the hypochondriac that I am, works perfectly for me! I love the pairing of the white with the gold accents and how comfortable and plush they feel on my ears. And the sound quality is SUPERB! You can still get 15% off your order AND a FREE crossbody pouch when you use my code REVISION [link in bio!] Have a great evening and an excellent week to come!
