This gorgeous beauty was hesitant to dive right into a contract, etc. before a trial was done. I completely understand that as a bride myself, you spend a lot of money on your wedding and you want to feel good about your decisions for vendors.
I don’t have a lot of brides who do this, but I’m perfectly okay with doing that so we’re both comfortable. Often, like Zaida, it’s a matter of not wanting a cakey makeup look or something so far from your normal look. That’s my favorite! I want you to look like yourself.
In the winter, wedding photographers tend to hibernate... so I figured I'd introduce myself + give you a insider look at my winter months ✨⠀
I'm Ashton, usually known as the gal behind the camera. My amazing husband and I will celebrate our 4th wedding anniversary this year and I'm a dog mom to #bayleethemastiff . ⠀
Here's what life looks like in the winter:⠀ ▪️ Running anytime I'm outside to make it as fast as possible between my car and the destination⠀ ▪️ Meeting with brides for the 2020 season to help plan their big day!⠀ ▪️ Planning events for @wearemakewell (my other side hustle)⠀ ▪️ Traveling as much as possible to catch some sunshine⠀ ▪️ Drinking lots and lots of tea whenever possible ☕⠀
Would love to hear what your life hacks are for the winter! We're in this together...⠀
Okay, I’m back at my desk today after the stint of sickness with Pat-man. We’re all still moving kinda slowly this week, but doing much better! So, what more perfect time to get caught up on sharing blogs? .
I had so much fun working with this childhood friend and her new husband. It's always hard choosing my favorite images and Kelsey and John's backyard wedding was no exception. Everyone was just so welcoming and fun. Not only that, but this was one of those weddings where I think every guest felt special for being included. I’m talking - taco truck, homemade cakes for everyone, margarita popsicles, and perfect fall weather. What more do you need? Head to the blog to see my favorites from Kelsey and John’s wedding. It was a great one.

6 Wedding Dress Shopping Tips⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1. SET YOUR BUDGET & STICK TO IT⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Be true to your budget - you don’t want to try on anything more expensive than your budget and end up falling in love with a dress you cannot afford! Makes for a very upsetting dress shopping day.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2. TRY ON EVERY SILHOUETTE ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Make sure you give yourself options as to what will look the most flattering.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3. DON’T RULE ANYTHING OUT⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Lace? Beading? Silk? Tulle? You don’t truly know what you like until you try it.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3. IT’S OKAY IF YOU DON’T CRY⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Not everyone has that movie moment! You’ll know it’s the dress if you can envision yourself walking down the aisle in that gown.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
4. CONSIDER ALTERING COSTS⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Expect to spend 10-20% more to have your gown altered.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
5. ORDER EARLY⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Don’t expect to get your dress immediately. It’s takes time to order. Gowns aren’t made until they are ordered. It takes most gowns 6 months to arrive. This doesn’t include alterations! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
6. STAY TRUE TO YOURSELF⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Purchase what you love - don’t depend on other people’s input!

Currently posting from — the couch! Being self employed definitely has its perks, but time management is key. I’m not a 9 to 5 gal, but this year I finally feel like my workflow has become more consistent. One of my favorite tools for helping stay focused is setting timers! When I’m working, I set a timer for 20-30 minutes and only work on one thing during that time. Culling, blogging, editing, etc. When times up, I set another timer for 10 minutes and browse Facebook/Instagram, and then cycle through this as much as I need. I’ve found I get so much done this way, and it’s nice to know I can have breaks to keep from burning out. Thx for coming to my #tedtalk 👍🏼

We see many pictures of the stage from the front of the chapel, but rarely do we get a glimpse of what it looks like from up on the stage looking to the front of the chapel. Can you envision yourself standing here saying “I do” to the love of your life? 😍 📸 @completeomaha

Which photo tells the story of this beautiful, open-sky backyard wedding better - this up close portrait or the far away landscape?! I love them both but I’m always curious what other people prefer!

When you put on your wedding dress - Who is around you? What are you feeling? •
Before you put your wedding dress on I will ask you to take the fabric in your hands, pause, and breath in deeply. When you step into your gown and it slowly rises to your shoulders, emotions will fill you. This is a moment that you don’t want to forget. I encourage you to be present and soak it all in. This is the moment you begin your day as a bride. •
Becoming a mother has changed my perspective during this moment of every wedding day I photograph. Watching mothers and daughter during this moment cause me to envision the day I will also help my daughter into her wedding dress. •
I think of the moment she was born and the first outfit I put her in as we left the hospital. She wiggled and squirmed, but as the last button was snapped, I knew she was ready to go. Fast forward a few months later to her baptism when I helped fastened her baptismal gown and tie her bonnet under her chin. I watched my husband carry her at church as her gown hung at the baptismal font just like her wedding gown would probably trail behind her someday. •
In a few years, there will be the dress she wears on her first day of kindergarten, then prom. I will always ask to help her button, zip and slip into her outfits. After the last button is snapped or the zipper reaches the top; I always spin her around to look at me, and I’m sure your mom will do the same. You will both smile, and she would give you a big hug and kiss. This day is no different, from all the other moments that she helped you get dressed. I promise your mom will finish helping you button your gown, spin you around and just as your eyes meet and smiles shine brightly, tears will fill her eyes as yet another chapter of your life is beginning. This moment is a moment you never want to forget.
I didn't even have to tell them to hold hands or give kisses. It all came natural for these two 💙

I’ve been teaching myself to breathe lately. Shift my focus, my thoughts, my energy & my heart. •
It’s been a conscious effort to embrace the good that surrounds. I don’t believe I’ve ever been one to take things for granted, but I recognize fully that I’m one to get caught up in work + stress...It’s been a challenge to break my old ways of putting work above all. • I’ve been spending this last month of developing new strategies + routines, owning this brand I’ve created, re-structuring my business, & ultimately putting my family and myself above work. • It feels amazing to be able to live in the moments with loved ones, it’s rejuvenating to sleep, and empowering to learn value through balance •
I love snow just like any other girl but this time of the year I'm usually going through photos that brings me back to that warm and beautiful sunny day.

The colors and flowers in this bridesmaid bouquet is getting us inspired for Valentine’s Day! Also loving the pops of color against the lighter toned dress! Don’t be afraid of color brides!
“Olivia creates a candid, relaxed atmosphere where you can safely show your true colors.”
You are you. I’m not here to change it, I’m here to embrace.
If you’re all down for crazy laughs, getting dirty, and letting loose, I am here for it. If you’re more like me - a little reserved and not really sure what to do when a camera is shoved in your face, I’m here for that too.
No matter what I promise to always listen to your vibe. If that means we get big candid laughs or keep things a little more posed, I’m here to help you with both.
You tell me! Do you love to get crazy and wild 😹in front of the camera or keep it a little more reserved because hi, hello there is a camera in my face? 😳

Even if you don’t trust your pups around your white wedding dress, you can always do what this bride did and bring them in the morning only as everyone gets ready. Even if it’s just for a short time, it’s not really ever going to be a completely perfect day if your dogs aren’t with you, right?

Traverse City is a dreamy snow globe and Kaylee and Tyler are living in it!
Shooting in the snow was definitely a challenge for my first engagement session, but these pictures turned out better than I could have ever imagined. I had Kaylee and Tyler pick out some of their favorite places in TC to take pictures at, and this is the result of a fun filled day of brewery hopping and champagne popping, while capturing moments in the places that mean the most to them. ❤️ #mynorth#mynorthwedding#midwestbride
wrapping up editing on my final wedding of 2019 🖤 it’s surprisingly bittersweet but I’m so looking forward to 2020 and all the rad couples that comes with it.

Yesterday’s wedding has my heart feeling so grateful. Grateful to capture moments that will be cherished forever and grateful for all your support and love. Super cheesy, I know. But in the middle of busy season, it’s easy to get distracted with all the editing, messages, scheduling, etc. Sometimes you lose sight of why you do what you do. But yesterday, I was reminded. 💗
