The black-winged stilt is a widely distributed very long-legged wader in the avocet and stilt family. The scientific name H. himantopus was formerly applied to a single, almost cosmopolitan species. pc-@omisclick , @aol_onkar_7733

My brother took going to jail really badly. He refused all offers of food and drink, spat and swore at anyone who came near him, and smeared the walls with his own feces....
After that we never played Monopoly again.
To become an Eagle Hunters kids (some of them even 3 years old) start practicing with falcons 🦅 It’s an incredible moment to witness young boy training together with his father and learning all about their tradition.
Nilotic pastoralists who inhabit one of the most isolated parts of the Omo Valley surrounded by mountains close to the border with South Sudan. They number about 7,500 and are known for the lip plates worn by their women.
All my life I've carried an awful lot of aggression in me. As a kid, it seeped into my bones, quietly rested within and often crawled out when a part of my memory was triggered.
They say, "women in my life are fierce" ; or "they're too much to be handled"
But how else would you know why, unless you've had someone angrily throw a shoe at you or called you a 'whore' for spitting out silence from between your teeth?
You see, abused women speak a language you cannot really fathom.
Yes, women in my life ARE fierce. As for me, I may even wanna beat the crap out of you if I see you slightly misbehaving with them (or with any woman for that matter); but women in my life are also sensitive and somehow sought to be respected for everytime they weren't!
A friend once told me that I get anxious too soon. That I'm often worrying about things that are trivial to others. But I won't blame her for not knowing why I get quiet these days or why exactly do I look so 'zoned out.' Or it may not be in her best interest to know, whatsoever..
But trust me as I say this- 'Abuse' (of whatever kind) is a totally different way of living!
It impacts you long after you've left the situation. And IT HAS impacted the women in my life (in ways you wouldn't even think of!)
So I'd like to make a humble request here- the next time you see a woman being abused/mistreated/belittled (in or outside your household), fuckin' grow some balls and stand up for her!!!
Do it for the mother who raised you or just do it for whomsoever. But do it.
I can't emphasize this enough. And I definitely couldn't have said it any better. But the next time you see it happening.. JUST DO IT.

Clownfish, New Guinea, 2009
Photo by @Daviddoubilet "Clownfish are funny, which is why they call them clownfish. It’s a Pacific fish not found in the Caribbean. For a photographer, what’s wonderful is the relationship between the clownfish and its host anemone. There are only ten species of anemone that host the twenty-eight species of clownfish worldwide.
An anemone can exist without the clownfish—but the clownfish cannot exist without the anemone, which protects the clownfishes’ eggs. The clownfish lays its eggs beneath the anemone’s skirt and burrows inside the anemone for safety at night, chasing away any other fish that would nibble the anemone down to nothing. They’re very aggressive little fish, even though they are very beautiful and delicate." Available as a chromogenic print framed or unframed in sizes up to 2.0m.

A big bull moose eyes me curiously from a burn along the Trans Canada Highway in BC. Check out my pic from last Monday to see what this looked like when I first spotted this guy way back in the forest!
Who needs the sun and the beach to feel at ease when you can sit in your cosy and warm defender with the most beautiful white all around you. Those are the moments when my mind feels free and my thoughts can wonder off not limited by anything happening behind the snow.
