We are loving the organic feel of this scallop backsplash today! #backsplashideas
For this kitchen design, we paired the Scala Bianco tile with Chantilly Lace cabinetry and matte black hardware for a pop of contrast.
You have to show up for yourself. Even on the days when it’s not so easy to do and when others can’t show up for you. .
It’s a new week, new opportunities, how will you show up this week?

Our Ajax Mom and Baby groups was off to a great start last week when @caitlinmacconnell.cpst visited with is to talk about Car Seat Safety.
The moms were definitely interested in learning more about correct seat positioning and decisions based on the height and weight of their babies.
Questions were flying and conversation came too easy for this bunch. Love it!

Our Tuesday and Friday Mini Movers programs kicked off this week with Coach Kyleigh of @supernovagymnastics .
Their Babynastics program had all the movers bouncing on the trampolines, sliding down the slides. Climbing all the obstacles and swinging from the high bars. Way too much fun!
I can't wait to see what's in store for us over the next 7 weeks. 😁

This is where I’ll be most of the day. .
Meal prep on Sunday’s have been a
consistent in my house for years. It’s been a saving grace when things get a little hairy during the week.......rushing to work, after school activities, and unexpected appointments. Eating healthy is a priority for me and the only way it is going to happen is if I prepare. .
Large portions of bean salad, quinoa casserole, and roasted potatoes with peppers, onions, garlic and mushrooms, are on the menu today for quick grab-n- go lunches. .
What’s on your menu? How many plant-based eaters do we have here? I’d love to hear some of your quick and easy recipes. .
Today's Baby/Infant CPR and First Aid workshop was another for the books.
Moms, dads and grands joined in as Valerie of ERT (Emergency Response Training) led us through a very informative workshop with hands-on training. We learned all the skills necessary should the need ever arise which we hope will never rear its ugly head.
One of the greatest joys in life is family and this little man of mine certainly is a joy. Trey is 8 years old and was diagnosed with severe non-verbal autism at just 2 years old. While there have been many many struggles that have come along the way, the joy this little boy fills my heart with makes every moment worth it. We enjoy morning snuggles every day but especially on the weekends. .
What is one of your favorite weekend family routines you look forward to each week?
Yoga can be a guidance tool to a deeper understanding of who we are. Just bringing our awareness to what takes us in and out of our practice, serves as a message to understanding where our “work” is, and how we are showing up for ourselves off the mat. .
What is it that takes you out of our practice? Is it discomfort? Distraction? Frustration? There is a message in observing these feelings and emotions. They are usually the very same patterns that we react to in everyday life. .
Yoga allows us to work these patterns out on our mat and release the attachment.
What’s that one question a parent is ALWAYS asked?
“How does he/she sleep?”
Jordyn is fantastic. She sleeps from 7:30pm/8pm - 7am with one wake up at 4am. I’m not boasting about her. But she hasn’t always been fantastic. I dealt with it my own way.
When we were going through this period of dreary eyes and power naps... I was getting advice from every corner of the world from any person who had a voice.
Have you tried putting her to sleep earlier?
Maybe try putting her to bed later?
Maybe try skip all of her naps and she’ll sleep longer?
How about trying to get her to take more naps?
Honestly, I don’t know if I could ever say this too much. Don’t give advice unless you’re asked for advice! Especially about sleep.
I tried it all. I tried it all BEFORE getting all the suggestions. Of course I did. Because I was sleep deprived. So what did I do? I went online and researched different ways for her to improve her sleep habits. What did people think I did? Maybe just tried one thing and think, “Oh. Well that didn’t work, guess that’s it then. ”
Of. Course. Fucking. Not.
Every kid is different. Every parent is different. Every family is different.
I am actually grateful for advice. I appreciate it. But because I’m so tired and irritable, everything gets my knickers into a twist these days.
I experienced my first Reiki session with @robinsauthentic today and enjoyed every minute. So much so, that Robin said I snored a little 😴😆 She explained everything beforehand and then it was really neat to feel the transfer of energy as she worked her magic✨ It got even better at the end when she debriefed me on what she saw and felt! Best part? I have great energy 💜 My heart is so full and I feel so light yet energized. Thank you Robin!

That’s a wrap!
Another week of #fitmomdurham classes done! For all the new members who joined us this week Thank You!
We always encourage our newest members to enjoy an Epsom salt bath for a minimum of 20 mins after their first class (and to repeat as needed). This not only helps everyone recover from all the hard work they put in to their class, BUT, also helps everyone learn how to carve out time for themselves.
Self-care isn’t a luxury- its the small, routine and consistent things we do to help us feel fully present.
For me it means regular exercise, daily 10 minute meditations and reading.
Sometimes it also means a soak in the tub! In fact, I think that’s exactly what I need tonight! Swipe to check out our favourite way to experience an Epsom Salt Bath..... What about you?
Drop me a line this weekend about the small things you do to fill your cup 👇

We are excited to announce that we have booked three market dates for 2020 in a new, exciting location! On May 3rd we'll be kicking the year off with our spring market fundraiser Bloom Market, which will feature over 100 expanded displays by handmade shops and local businesses. In an effort to help promote eco-friendly living and zero waste practices, we've opted to include a kids consignment portion to the event that we are calling Grow Market. Area families are invited to amp up their spring cleaning by booking a table to display clean and well maintained children's items for sale (seperate room). Vendors/exhibitors retain 100% of their earnings with a portion of table fees from both the Bloom and Grow Markets being allocated to the development and implementation of invaluable programming designed to empower youth and adults with complex needs. .
We will be sharing details related into our two additional dates: Mamalicious (September, 2020) and The 5th Annual Mingle & Jingle Market (November, 2020) in the near future and vendors will have the option to apply for any/all markets via our spring link.
The newly appointed Courtyard by Marriott hotel in Oshawa is a STUNNING, luxury venue rivaling any of the region's convention halls. It boasts 7000 sq ft+ of space for our team and vendors to utilize. The location is highly visible to both street and Highway traffic (401) and is fully accessible to hotel guests. Vendors will benefit from much larger table/booth space at an affordable price point. We know how important fees are with respect to shows and although our overhead costs did climb, we managed to negotiate a great rate that will keep cost per vendor under $100! .
Additional exhibitor perks include: .
✔️ Free parking ✔️ Free WIFI ✔️ Space for 100+ exhibitors ✔️ Onsite restaurant/cafe ✔️ Extensive social media exposure ✔️ Set up/tear down saving vendors time ✔️ Supplied tables & chairs.
Application link will be active by MONDAY! If you are a returning vendor please DM us to be sent the link prior to public posting. Additional inquiries can be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org
Hi I’m Ash creator of mamaste village.
My husband Ryan and I met on Instagram, he claims he invented sliding into DMs.
In July 2018, 5 minutes before my 32nd birthday I became mama to Henry & I’m a fur mama to a maniac dog named Oak.
I grew up in Durham region and have spent the last 6 years jumping around to different cities for work.
After giving birth to my son, I was missing a sense of community, and I felt a strong pull to come home.
Isn’t it funny, you grow up wanting to leave home, then you grow up (kind of) & all you want to do is come home?
Mamaste village emerged from my postpartum journey, when I recognized a need for yoga programming and support for mamas from pregnancy through to the first year of motherhood - a village.
I can’t wait to share more about what we’re up to in the coming weeks, stay tuned!

PLANT WALL ➡️ with all the time we spent indoors this winter, I started to really think about (read: worry) our indoor air quality. We do a ton to prevent adding to its poor quality ourselves (natural cleaning & personal care products, no VOC paint etc) but the truth is, there is still so much to think about. Off gassing from treated floors, flame retardants on furniture and electronics... I could go on and on, but I won't, because that's scary and pointless! 🙈🙉🙊 Instead of focusing on how much in my immediate environment is trying to kill us (which was a bit challenging, because we all had some health challenges arise - mine being the worst), I started thinking about what to ADD IN , to help reduce the toxic burden in our home! ☠️☠️☠️ Directly inspired by @wellnessmama with tips from @realeverythingblog, we built this beautiful plant wall! Plants do just as good a job, or better, purifying our air as $$$ indoor air purifiers, and don't use electricity or eventually break down and need to be taken to the dump (gah, e-waste!) Not to mention, holy gorgeous Batman. 😍😍😍 We chose snake plant, a fern and English ivy (I think - the hubs is the gardener 🙃), simple wood, pretty brackets from amazon, dollar store pots and leftover paint. The entire project cost around $120, and makes us smile every time we look at it! ☺️☺️☺️ I'D LOVE TO KNOW ANY TRICKS YOU HAVE FOR CREATING A HEALTHY HOME! SHARE IN THE COMMENTS BELOW! ⬇️⬇️⬇️ PS. Huge thanks to my partner-in-crime @jbtnd for creating this living breathing art installation! It was my idea but he did 💯 of the work! 😙😙😙

so if you know me you know I can sometimes be a little strong willed (read stubborn). if I want something, if I believe in something, I’m going for it, and I’m setting some big expectations for myself.
I’ve done things that I don’t even want to do, just because I said I would do them, and I didn’t want to quit - a story of how I ran 3 half marathons.
this business is my dream, my big hairy audacious goal, and I spared no expense in setting some even bigger expectations of myself.
as I looked at my registration last night, I felt like a failure, my classes weren’t full - but hello, I haven’t even taught a class yet! I have zero reputation and everyone who’s signed up is taking a huge chance on me.
so I’m choosing to celebrate that, you guys, for taking a chance on this mama with a big dream.
and to let go of those big expectations, because the only one holding me to those, was me.
after all, I’m a mom, on mat leave who started a growing business so that’s pretty rad. ✌🏼

There are many reasons why we choose to cosleep, but this kind of special moment is definitely the cutest one!
The main reason? It's what our souls were called to do, and there was never any other option for *us*.
Regardless of your choices ( #youdoyou ) or where you are on this sleep journey (bc once you feel like you've got it figured out, they change everything on you #parenthood ), I want to offer you a mantra that helps me in tough moments:
"Children are never a burden." - @januaryharshe

When putting yourself back together, after being in what feels like a million pieces, your new you may look relatively the same, but it can fundamentally different. Changes like this often lead to dissolving relationships - from work to friendships, and most definitely marriages.😔
Sometimes however, the opposite happens.
This man has stood by me and loved me fiercely and unwaveringly. I am not the person he met 10yrs ago, or married almost 6 yrs ago. And yet, he loves me not in spite of that, but because of that.❤️
This man embodies selflessness. He is good. And kind. He always puts his family first (to a fault! #enneagram2 ) and is the first to offer help. He is open hearted. He is confident, but always willing and eager to learn. He is an excellent doctor, improving and saving lives daily, despite ongoing pushback from society at large. But that just inspires him to continue to do Good Work.👏
He is right there with me as we question norms, identify our privileges, and do the hard internal work to help move the needle forward and improve the world for the next generation.🌎
He is silly, and funny, and always eager to play (and really play) with the kids. He makes a damn good Caesar salad. He knows how to hold space for big feelings, without any judgement. He's wicked smart, and also super capable - he still surprises me with what he can do (me all the time: "wait what? We don't have to hire someone to do that?").😂
It's his birthday today. I love days where we get to celebrate him and his special brand of awesome.🤘

please allow me to reintroduce myself.
hey, I’m Ash owner and founder of mamaste village.
I am mama to this fiercely wild, big personality’d, sweet as can be little boy named Henry, & wife to a babely and hilarious man named Ryan.
mamaste village was born in my postpartum experience. I struggled very early on with PPA and PPD and felt lost in my motherhood journey. I was craving a place where I could go, meet other mamas and do something for myself, but all I could find were programs geared towards babies.
my vision for mamaste village is to be a hub for mamas, pre and postnatal, giving them all of the tools and support needed to feel set up for motherhood.
we currently offer prenatal yoga, mama & babe yoga and a first year mom group called the village.
in the fall we will be adding; baby led sleep and well being coaching, mama & movers yoga and family yoga.
I’m busy making connections with chiropractors, RMTs, nutritionists, pelvic floor specialists and other mama focused fitness professionals to be able to create a space for mamas with everything they need throughout pregnancy and postpartum.
our summer prenatal and mama & babe series start in July, DM me for more information!

Wednesday’s are always one of my favourite days at the market, want to guess why??
That’s because it’s restock day for most vendors! I love to see what the makers have been up to and what new pieces they will bring in every week.
I opened up Markets so shoppers could have a one stop place to get all their favourite local handmade goods. . . You may not know this but I’m one of our favourite fans 🙈.
Opening up the Market and shopping local makes me feel good, not just because I’m getting amazing handmade quality goods, but because I know when I purchase an item that the money goes straight back into the Makers pocket.
Won’t you come shop local today?
