Here are some pretty skies I came across today and a dreamy drive past this icy pine forest stream. Now time for bed after 12 hours working in the cold all day (didn't get above 12F all day with 6-12mph winds)...my feet are just now starting to thaw, and I'm on call tonight.
Big day for my expanding fish gallery. I finally stocked my Lake Tanganyika shell dweller biotope with 'Neolamprologus multifasciatus'. They are the smallest cichlid in the world and live in the shallow sandy shell beds of this great African rift lake--the second largest lake in the world by volume. After weeks of water testing and managing the pH , gH and kH to closely reflect their native water parameters I've deemed it ready for stocking. Within minutes of being in the tank, these guys have explored all the shells and started staking territories. In the coming days they will have rearranged the tank entirely and eventually will begin spawning inside the shells. Incredibly fun to watch.
I spent some of my day off today cooking up some homemade brunch with @rudyj_17 and scheming for an upcoming trip to AZ. What tips do you have for visiting the Grand Canyon (South Rim) in early April? Any other "can't miss" things to see, do or eat in Arizona?
Beautiful Waimea and its rough surf. Strong waves washing away footprints and, sometimes, knocking over body surfers and boogie boarders. Jumping Rock, closed for the day due to dangerous currents.
Still wonderful. 😎

❓ Braised beef short rib
📝 South Carolina's Restaurant Week is officially over, so we're back to paying normal prices! This braised beef short rib was very tender and the plating was beautiful! However the flavor was a little lacking, which is a shame since it was perfect from a technical point.
Day 15: Here Comes the Sun
Just past mid summer, I've been enjoying getting to the station in daylight and getting to see the sunrise each day (even on the times I've left by 5:45am!). Spring is my favourite season, but summer does have its perks.
Decided on a break from the constant moving, took some twists and turns and a few one way roads and ended up at a campground in the midst of mountains. Lounged in the river. Got to have our FIRST campfire of the trip. Something about a campfire makes everything feel complete. .
If you've ever been around Tyler, you know he is allergic to everything. That is, until we arrived in New Zealand. They have all but disappeared for him. And have transferred to Layna. So after a few sneezy, watery eyes days, we are back on the road.
Using this #tbt to look back at one of my favorite photos I've taken in 2019.
Initially, I tried taking this shot with my DSLR but couldn't get the lens close enough to the wall to get the reflection I wanted. Luckily the girl with her feet up stayed just long enough for me to grab my phone and take some additional snaps.
I also originally edited this in black and white but love the color version. The color really makes the sneakers standout as the subject against the orange subway seats. #googlepixel#SPi_Colour
