smoothie order of the day:
•unsweetened almond milk
•unflavored mct powder
•vanilla coconut collagen
—avoid added sweeteners. if a smoothie already has fruit it in, pretty unnecessary to add honey, dates, maple syrup, etc.
—try to limit smoothies to 1/4c of fruit. try to stick to berries as these have the least amount of sugar. obviously if you’re ordering out, this can be hard, so an alternative is to stick to only having them add ONE fruit instead of multiple. this can cut your smoothie from having 50-100g of sugar to 10-50g. fruit isn’t the enemy, but your smoothie doesn’t need to have 100g of sugar in it. it’ll spike your glucose causing you to crash later.
—always add any type of extra greens or fiber available (spinach, kale, chia, flax, etc)
—add protein & fats!! this will keep you satiated. here i actually brought my own mct / protein & they blended it in. otherwise, if the protein they are using looks clean, i will definitely add it in! fats i have here are both avocado & mct
—ensure to use *unsweetened* milks (ex. coconut, almond, macademia) - even when the package says *original* it usually means there is still sugar in it. always look for the unsweetened label. i will ask cafes if their milk is unsweetened & most of the time they just give me the box to examine myself ☺️

How many of you out there have tried to detox? Detox teas, detox supplements, juice detoxes, and my all time favorite the total starvation fast. Allow me to burst your bubble when I tell you they don't work and are detrimental to your health. These methods of "detoxing" leave you feeling sluggish, nauseous, lower your blood sugar levels and like a fad diet or quick fix can lead you to gain weight.
I prefer cleansing my body naturally with a clean eating plan that involves mass consumption of water. This method requires the elimination of fructose, and trans fats. Read your labels if it says low fat but one of your ingredients reads "partially hydrogenated" place the item down and walk away. You will thank me later. Look for healthy fats and oils (coconut oil, olive oil), nuts and seeds, protein, legumes, and non starchy vegetables. A cleanse diet includes plenty of nutrient-dense, lower-sugar, high-fiber plant foods along with excellent sources of protein and healthy dietary fat. You're focusing solely on whole, unprocessed real food,and drinking about 1/2 your body weight of water in ounces. Lastly, sweating, you got to sweat that shit out! Not only will you be burning fat more effectively with excercise but you're also sweating out those toxins.
In the end when it comes to going with a detoxification program, compared to supporting the body’s natural detoxification system. living her best unicorn dream, water baby life over here! between the beach and the pool these last few days, we are looking like raisins!
we plan on getting juniper into swim lessons after our spring break trip, but this weekend she blew us away by jumping in and going under on her own! I’ve always thought fear is something that is taught to a degree, and Billy and I said we want to raise our girls to be fearless. what do you guys think? how much of raising kiddos do you think is taught and how much is innate?
