Welcome to Episode 2 of "Read your Weeds" What your weeds are saying about your soil.
Today's featured weed is the Canada Thistle...
Excerpt is from Gardeningknowhow.com "Perhaps one of the most noxious weeds in the home garden, Canada thistle (Cirsium arvense) has a reputation for being impossible to get rid of. We won’t lie to you, Canada thistle control is difficult and requires a significant amount of effort to be successful, but the effort you put into controlling Canada thistle will pay off when you have a garden that is free from this annoying weed.
While Canada thistle could mean deficiencies in iron and copper it will grow anywhere, it grows best in soil with low fertility and open areas.
Controlling Canada thistle organically is done with a sharp eye and an even sharper pair of scissors. Find the base of the Canada thistle plant and simply snip it off at the base. Do not pull Canada thistle out, as this can split the root, which causes two Canada thistles to grow back.

What a cleanup today! While our bag numbers may be small our heart to get this neighborhood clean was in it. The three bags gathered today were chalk full of cigarette butts and bits of plastic scattered among the streets. As always we cant help but have a little fun while out and about, sometimes we even see our volunteers in double!
Join us for our double header weekend March 6th and/or 8th. We are looking forward to another gorgeous and productive couple cleanups.
A beautiful day in Portland called for a footloose and fancy free day at the beach with the love of my life! @kenbarks
I’m a firm believer in embracing every special moment, being spontaneous and recharging my batteries!
The beautiful blue skies today called for a serious “Work Time Out!” So we drove 80 miles to take a long leisurely walk on our majestical Oregon coastline and enjoy a seaside clam chowder luncheon!
Mission accomplished! My vitamin D levels have been replenished and the negative ions from the ocean have renewed my soul!
Fun Fact ... Did you know ... Negative Ions Create Positive Vibes. Once they reach our bloodstream, negative ions are believed to produce biochemical reactions that increase levels of the mood chemical serotonin, helping to alleviate depression, relieve stress, and boost our daytime energy.

A very big congratulations to my clients, @bartalliii and @jazmar9 on the purchase of their new Murray Hill neighborhood home!! Not pictured is their other son, but I know the second all four of them are home the memories will start being made! I have a ton of respect for this family and it has been a true pleasure working with them. They had some big goals to accomplish and we achieved them all. Cheers guys! Thanks again for letting me be your guide. 🙌🏻•
is our burger criminally overlooked? maybe. should u order this new spicy burger on special? probably. is the (perpetually useless) top sheet a scheme by Big Sheet to make us spend more money? definitely
sambal mayo, deep fried bacon, house smoked chili pepper relish, white american cheese. (ask for extra spicy and we will throw some pickled thai chilis on there)

Okay wow, Anthurium ‘rainbow champion’ literally kept me up thinking about how incredible this plant is. This Anthurium andreanum hybrid from the Netherlands. A frequent blooms with dark almost black foliage, but the blooms will also vary in color as they age. It was bred in 2011 and now I’m just now seeing them start to be available in the states. Maybe I’ve missed it for a couple years, but it’s exciting to think about what hybrids are in the works now, that will be commercially available within the next couple of years. 😎

Chemical peels are a topical treatment that work to exfoliate the outermost layers of the skin. This can help target sun damage, discoloration, oily/acneic skin, and reduce the appearance of fine lines. You may or may not peel, but you’ll still receive the benefits of the chemical peel. The shedding process may last up to one week. During this time, SPF application and staying out of the sun is VITAL! 🌞
