Ending portrait sessions with a sunset has always been rewarding. After a day spent with my couples, a sense of gratitude, reflection, and stillness fills me so much that i feel the photos give off these emotions.
Too often we think of everything we cannot do or what we cannot be. This is natural, and as creative persons we do this even more often. The inner critic really shouts loud sometimes (especially at night or when you release a new work into this world… omg). The list we feed with all the things that we think we are not capable of … is endless. And it’s absolutely natural, because - here are some news for you - you indeed can’t be a master of everything that is out there and there are character traits you simply don’t have.
You know why? Because you already ARE and can already DO something. When I catch myself drowning deeper into this list of „can’t do’s and not being’s“ I pause and start another list. The „what I have done until now“-list“. The „things I am good at“-list. The „I don’t totally suck at..“-list.
Shifting a „cannot“-mindset to „already done“ can be hard sometimes, but it’s worth it. When it comes to the next task your brain will be enthusiastic about it and your creativity will sweep you off your feed. Why pushing yourself down, when you can also invest the same amount of energy into pushing you up?
Just like „I know I can do this, because in a thousand different ways .. I have already done it.“ - Allow yourself to thrive today and tell me (and yourself): What are you proud of? ⠀ ⠀
