The bridge was built by Sir William Pulteney of the 5th Baronet who was reputedly the wealthiest man in Great Britain 🇬🇧 at the time. The bridge crosses #RiverAvon and was completed in 1774.
We learned 🧐a lot about William on this trip and the contributions he made to the once developing city of #Bath back in the 1700’s. The way of which William, **ehem** introduced himself to us is a WHOLE different story. You probably wouldn’t believe me, but perhaps I will tell it some day...😉

✳️This was probably one of the sunniest days I spent in the #uk ✳️ In my opinion, Bath📍was one of the prettiest cities🇬🇧 Pulteney Bridge is one of the most photographed examples of Georgian architecture in the city🌉 and one of only four bridges in the world🌎 to have shops across its full span on both sides↔️ Who has been here before❓
On this rainy Brooklyn day, reminiscing about Bath, Somerset whilst re-reading ‘Pride and Prejudice’ [Sanditon is on reserve]
We lucked out after arriving, as the The Mayor of Bath Guides were just starting their free Walking Tours.
Bath’s oolitic limestone honey-colored stone buildings in this World Heritage city, are quite breathtaking rain or shine.
Jane Austen’s family moved here especially as the spa resort was popular with fashionable society. Her home from 1801-1806, this vibrant, trendy area provided inspiration for two of her novels ~ ‘Persuasion’ & ‘Northanger Abbey’. Couldn’t believe my eyes, when I saw JLo’s salacious green Versace gown on display at the Fashion Museum Bath.

After Stonehenge Bath is definitely the next stop for a day trip, classical town with peaceful ambience, glad to come here after all these years I heard about this place #romanbath#bath#pulteneybridge#uk#crewlife
(The Clifton Suspension Bridge)
(Roman Bath)
(Pulteney Bridge)

🇬🇧 A weekend in Bath 🇬🇧
Bath is a very small city that you can easily visit in only one day. What I loved the most what just wandering around the city. All streets are so charming ♥️ and it's not only because of the buildings architecture but also for all the shops where you can find treasures and all coffee shops and restaurants where you can take a break. Today I'm sharing with you 3 nice spots in Bath.
Top 1: 📍 on Pulteney Bridge, you'll find a lovely flower shop @pulteneybridgeflowers 🌼
This classic, wet, British weather won’t stop us having fun and riding boats goddamnit ✊🏻 We might be sailing towards dark skies, but I’m optimistic about the weekend (regardless if the heavens open or not) ☔️ What has everyone got planned this drizzly weekend? 🌨 I’ll be spending mine with two beautiful babes, @betti_baudelaire and @zfjsutton. We’ll be getting cosy in coffee shops, vintage shopping and maybe even riding boats kween 🚤 👑✊🏻🌧
Ee by ‘eck, It’s chilly and foggy this morning in Cheshire. Perfect sitting-by-the-fire-and-scoffing-a-buttery-crumpet weather. It’s Monday again, so let’s wag off work and head to the ancient city of Bath instead! Love this featuring the grand old Pulteney Bridge by @ten_realms_photography
Ahh how lovely is this Autumnal view! 🍂🍁🍂 This was originally a toll bridge and boundary between parishes, built on condition that fresh water could be piped across it from the hills to the town. Factoid: It’s one of only four bridges left in the world with shops across the full span. A perfect place to sit and nibble on some famous Bath Buns!
Bath is one of those must see cities when you come to visit foggy England. So many delightful hidden corners with ancient history all around you. Easily doable as a day trip from London!
Have a super Monday. Lovely shot by @ten_realms_photography 🇬🇧 To be featured, follow and tag us! ‘Ta! 🇬🇧

Which do you prefer - a Shower or Bath? Comment below. I ask for three reasons. Firstly, this is a lovely picture of the city of Bath, England photographed by @joojums. Secondly, I'm daft. Thirdly, there was a story recently that read "Over eight million Britons think showering once a week is enough!".... which sounds disgusting. However, tucked away further in the article is the line "....although they're not going around unclean as most just prefer a relaxing bath."... Tsk...Anyway, we are very clean and smell lovely over here...like a mixture of fresh baked bread, tea and cookies. Honest.
Ahem. Anyway, back to this lovely scene of this wonderful historic city. Across the way is Pulteney bridge, which was originally a toll bridge and boundary between parishes, built on condition that fresh water could be piped across it from the hills to the town houses. Amazing fact: It is one of only four bridges in the world with shops across the full span on both sides! Bath itself was founded upon natural hot springs with the steaming water playing a key role throughout its history. Lying in the heart of the city the Roman Baths were constructed around 70 AD as a grand bathing and socialising complex. It is now one of the best preserved Roman remains in the world. 1,170,000 litres of steaming spring water reaching 46 °C still fill the bathing site every single day. The Romans believed that this was the mystical work of the Gods but we now know that the water source, which comes from the King’s Spring, which fell as rain water around 10,000 BC!
Have a wonderful evening! It's going to be glorious tomorrow in Britain thanks to lots of hot air wafting up from North Africa (Thank you Africa, we love you!) - so I'm off to hike around the @lake.district... brilliant shot by @joojums 🇬🇧 Want your Photos of Britain to be featured? Follow us and then tag us in the picture too! 'Ta very much! 🇬🇧
