Our planet is deteriorating slowly and destroying necessary elements to living organisms like ice for the polar bear. We can help reduce the ice from melting even more by using natural beauty product instead of products made from chemicals which are just destroying our ozone layer and letting more heat into earth melting the ice and ultimately killing the polar bear. We can be the change and save those that are able to save themselves

Just got home, took off my earrings and am SO excited to try the @nourishsavannah Shampoo Bar in Peppermint Charcoal, and Conditioner Bar in Rosemary Calamine 🙌 Every day my girls and I discuss ways to reduce our plastic consumption. We regularly use refillable water bottles but with 3 women in the house our number one source for plastic waste are shampoo and conditioner bottles! We had recently talked about finding an online vendor but since they’re sold right here in Savannah, we reduce our carbon footprint by eliminating shipping. SO excited to dive right in. I’ll let y’all know how it goes 🧖🏽♀️🚿🧼 (oh and you just place them on this eco friendly, bio-plastic soap dish 🌱)

I used to LOVE shopping. I lived pay cheque to pack cheque in high-school and university & would hit the malls any chance I got. Shopping therapy I called it 🛍 .
Tonight we went shopping for the first time in a long time. We started at @valuevillage_thrift to look for the items we needed second and then eventually moved onto a couple of other stores in the plaza. As I walked through the isles filled with “Thneeds” as The Lorax might call them, I started feeling anxious, stressed & overwhelmed. .
These stores are the exact places I used to go to relive feelings of stress and anxiety and to improve my mood! The more stuff I bought, the better felt! For a while... until the feeling wore off and I needed to go shopping again and again. .
Now that I have learned more about the full lifecycle of our stuff (extraction of resources > production > transportation > consumption > waste), these places give me the exact opposite feelings 😫😤🤯😡😱🥴 I can’t shop & over-consume like I used to knowing the true cost of this habit.
Overconsumption (buying beyond our needs/ in excess) is depleting the earths resources, destroying animal habitats & ecosystems & poisoning our land & water. I can no longer look at malls, shopping centres & the items in them the same way that I used to. .
Do I still shop? Mhmm. Do I still buy things that aren’t second hand? Yup. Do I still look for a good deals & buy things in plastic? Guilty. Do I still have a long ways to go? 🙋🏼♀️ do I ever! (I’m a huge sucker for “green” products these days). But I am also learning to be more content with the things I have. I’m becoming a proud outfit repeater & second hand shopper. I’m working on not making impulse purchases & am doing research on many of the products we buy. We choose ethical, local & more sustainable options whenever possible. I’ve also learned that the happy feeling I used to get from shopping are only temporary. .
I have started finding more lasting happiness in going for walks in the woods, sipping on a hot beverage with a friend, reading books & being creative 🎨 I’m valuing time & experiences over things.
Can anyone else relate to this shopping eco anxiety?

My class built their own sustainable games. We looked at how we could be creative but conscious of the planet too. By being a responsible consumer we built our games out of recycled card which the kids absolutely loved making and then playing with. .
As well as gaining more knowledge about how to look after our planet the kids developed their creative engineering skills and problem solving skills. .
This was so successful that we have now designed a new workshop called the ‘Sustainable Arcade’. Keep track of our posts for updates of this fantastic and exciting workshop. . #sustainablearcade#responsibleconsumer#becreative#steamforkids#stemeducation#stem#sustainabilitymatters

Our bamboo straws are completely ethically made ✨ These natural beauties need NO chemical processing to be made, because if bamboo remains as a hardened fibre product then they do not require any chemicals. They are 100% Natural!
Our bamboo straws help keep women who were without a home and an income off of the streets of Bali and encourage a positive workspace that is better than “fair-trade”. It is always important to ask questions about the products that you buy, who makes them, where are they made, how are they made.
We are a completely transparent brand, because we are in this business for the better of our planet, our home ~ Earth 🌏🌿
Are you looking to reduce packaging? We sell some of our products in bulk and as refills.
Available for North Beach Mist, Take a Hike and North Wind Laundry Powder.
With extra time we can refill other products as well.
Tip #1 : Real or Artificial?⠀
Should you opt for a real or artificial Christmas tree? The most environmentally friendly Christmas tree is a real tree. Go to a local tree farm and choose one from a responsible farmer, purchase a permit from the Forest Service to cut down your own, buy a tree you can replant after the holidays, or get creative and use an indoor conifer, like the Norfork Island Pine, as your Christmas tree year after year (this would be the best option!). To manufacture an artificial Christmas tree, you need PVC plastic, steel and aluminum, plus cardboard for the packaging and the resources to ship the trees from Asia, where most of them are made. If you really want an artificial tree bring home a used one from a second hand store and use it as long as possible. There isn’t data on how long the average person keeps an artificial tree before disposing of it, but estimates suggest it would take 9 years of use for an artificial tree to be a better choice than buying a real tree every year. Do you prefer real or artificial? Where does your family get your tree every year?⠀

"Where does the garbage go?" "How do you get rid of it?" Well, let us assure you, it's quite the production! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Today, we pulled our barges up to Owensboro Riverport Authority and used their HUGE crane to unload our garbage, recyclables, and tires. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A semi-truck is hauling the single-use plastic to Wisconsin so we'll be able to sort through and recycle everything we can with John Deere next week! Tires were picked up by Bridgestone Tires to be recycled. And garbage was loaded into Republic Services dumpsters to be transferred to a landfill. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Our "thank you's" to Owensboro Riverport Authority are more prominent than their crane bucket. We would not be able to unload as efficiently without their help. Not to mention, they donated all the time, labor, equipment, and docking! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Also a huge thanks to Republic Services, Bridgestone Tires, John Deere, and Legacy Corporation for hauling away the hundreds of thousands of pounds we cleaned up this year. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This is an integral part of our cleanup mission that takes a lot of support and logistics. (Props to JB for being such a great Operation Manager!) #keepitclean#bargelife

Free Eco Tip: Delete old emails to reduce your carbon footprint!✨
Did you know that the average email accounts for 4g of CO2e (carbon dioxide equivalent)? And even bigger are emails with large attachments. They often account for up to 50g! Spam emails are around 0.3g. (@carbonliteracy)💻
The CO2 generated comes from the energy that is used to store, filter and read the emails, causing unnecessary emissions. Once you delete the emails, there is no energy being used anymore.🔋
This is a great, EASY and free way to help reduce your carbon footprint. And I mean, I’m pretty sure ALL of us could do with clearing out our inboxes! Delete all those emails from brands, from newsletters you never open, and forwards from high school that were once hilarious.📧
Clearing out your inbox doesn’t just help the environment, but it helps your mental health too - clutter, is still clutter, even if it’s in digital form. There really is no better feeling than seeing the little red notification number go from 1,345 to 0, is there? It might sound silly but it gives us a sense of accomplishment, productivity, and calm, knowing that we have less pending (even if it’s junk) mail to sort through📩
Are you a email hoarder (like in the thousands), or do you regularly clean out your inbox?📥
