Olive oil tasting & fresh pecorino @corzanoepaterno is very special and so much fun!
Sardinian sheep in the Pesa Valley at this third generation family run farm and agriturismo a charming bed and breakfast with a selection of cheese that is even on the tables of the most exclusive restaurant in Florence @enotecapinchiorri
Trekking in #simienmountains you always take a scout with you as local guide. This helps employment in the area - and protects you from leopards and wolves should the need arise!
This lovely kid came along with us and our guide so we had double the protection 💪
The mountains are always calling. But this time mountains in Mussourie called for a reason.
The reason was @nestle.india ’s invite to see their waste management initiative in the hill town. The project “ @hilldaari stems from “Zimmedaari” or responsibility & “Dildaari” or large hearted.
It is an integral sense of ownership that the locals in Mussoorie have for their hill town.
I saw it in Susheela ji, who is a waste professional , collecting dry waste door to door, scanning the QR code on the door, confirming she has collected the waste.
Sometimes we capture moments for the sake of social media, just so we have something awesome to post for other people to see. I’ve been through instances wherein I prioritize the photo more than being present in the moment and believe me, it isn’t a rewarding / fullfilling feeling. It all changed for me when I went back to doing activities that would require presence of mind like hiking & freediving, it taught me not to rush anything, in hiking you have to watch every path if you have to climb, walk or pause to get air, in freediving you have to calm your mind & body in order for you to last long underwater, yet at the same time being completely aware of it. This applies to us when it comes to taking photos, let it be a balance of real moments & great photographs.
Sharing a set of this golden hour encounter we had in Sri Lanka. We were in the van driving to our hotel & we had this view from our seat. For about a few minutes of just staring at it in awe, we asked the driver to pullover so we can snap a few photos.
They say a camera is a save button for the mind’s eye, who agrees? Comment “👁”
A big hello from Kurtain Washa! Welcome to the BurntBootsBlog Instagram page. I will share travel tips, primarily learned through getting things wrong and working out what you should do instead; stories of adventures both big and small; and tips on how to dry your boots without burning them (no 1 - if someone says they can smell something, don't just assume they're joking). So make yourself comfortable, and let's see what today will bring 🙌

Its camping season and dont you just love this flower sheltered tent. We call this one Minivet!
🌍Staying plastic free while travelling ♻️
Wherever we travel, we carry our bamboo and metal straws reusable straws, reusable bags, boxes and water bottles
Despite this we faced resistance to stay plastic free almost every day especially in these developing countries where it’s just easier to look the other way 😟
Every time we ate outside, locals gave us a plastic take away box. Every time we wanted to buy fruit and veggies at the local markets we had to repeatedly insist we really don’t need any plastic bags
Sadly across the pacific is still normal to just drop your plastic on the ground with no second thought. We saw this numerous times where kids would buy an ice cream and chuck the wrapper on the ground or from the bus window. Our effort seemed really pointless 👎
It’s not all bad news though, as Samoa is preparing to go plastic free, already banning most single use plastics 👍 Go Samoa!!! We hope the other island nations follow suit shortly
Who else travels with their reusable straws? ♻️

💗 I’m totally lovin’ Hawaii! The scenery is unreal with mountains, rainforest and beaches 😍
We randomly found this amazing beach where you can snorkel with fish and heaps of turtles 🐢
Something I wasn’t aware of before I came to Hawaii is that the chemicals in some sunscreens can actually harm coral reefs.
Here’s a list of ingredients you don’t want in your sunscreen:
These chemicals are not only damaging to reefs but can be absorbed into our bodies. So keep an eye out for organic, non-toxic sunscreens 😎
MARRAKECH, MOROCCO 🇲🇦 First of all, Ma shaa Allah! Look at the creation of Allah y’all. This was one of the BEST trips I have ever taken. ———————————————————————————
This enchanting earthy place is called the Jardin Majorelle. 😍🌴🌵✨These photos may not be a big deal to many, but to me it’s so beautiful. I’m naturally a plant lover, just a lover of nature in general! Extremely mind blown 🤯 at the fact that all of these plants were once seeds and roots. SubhanAllah! ———————————————————————————
There’s a tree in Jannah (Paradise) called The Tree of Tooba 😍

This will always be one of my favorite places. I was the midst of an 18 day backpacking trip and my group had just hit 100 miles. We couldn't have asked for a better reward! These are the places we never get to see if we only ever stick to man-made forms of travel. When we form a more intimate connection with the world we are granted access to the most wondrous sights! #womenwhoexplore#wander#ecotraveller#responsibletravel#optoutside
I never would have though sulfuric steam could be a thing of beauty, but look at it! Although national parks can sometimes be heavily trafficked and feel overrated, they are always worth a visit! Not only do the grant you access to uniquely exquisite worlds, they also give you the chance to acknowledge and respect the local landscape and its native inhabitants. We are truly visitors in these lands! #womenwhoexplore#responsibletravel#ecotraveller#wander#optoutside

I strive to maintain the wonder of a child when I set off on adventures. Nothing can beat the wide-eyed awe and curiosity of someone opening themselves up to new things. This is one reason I absolutely LOVE being with people when they experience something for the first time. Their joy and radiance is an effective antidote to discontentedness and reminds us of the inherent significance of everything we encounter. #womenwhoexplore#responsibletravel#wander#childlikewonder

Con estos ricos tacos les deseamos... Buen provecho!
Sometimes we get so caught up in our wanderlust for dramatic, exotic places that we forget to notice the beauty all around us! Take a moment today to pay attention to the details and learn to know your local environment. You will not be disappointed. #womenwhoexplore#responsibletravel#ecotraveller#wander

I am forever drawn to beautiful literary spaces, whether libraries or bookstores. They bring such a sense of comfort, connection, and possibility. This lovely staircase is located in Bethlehem, PA--a town which went unnoticed for too long by this Pennsylvania native! #womenwhoexplore#responsibletravel#wander

During a trip to Florida I got to briefly escape to this little paradise where locals are hard at work to care for and rehabilitate animals native to the area. A great reminder of the deep importance of local ecosystems. #ecotraveller#womenwhoexplore#responsibletravel#wander

As much as I love a lush, colorful landscape, I am oddly drawn to severe, rugged spaces. Something about them reminds me of the paradox of human vulnerability and resilience. We are part of something so much bigger than ourselves, and yet we have the power to rise up and join it! #womenwhoexplore#responsibletravel#wander

Panama keeps surprising me and it keeps teaching me how close my mind can be. Persons and cultures are so multifaceted and complex, I hope I can keep learning from this world as I open my world view and understanding.

Hi! My name is Christyn and I have always loved experiencing the world through travel and adventure. Join me as I pursue a better understanding of how we can go on these journeys while honoring the people and places we encounter as we go! #womenwhoexplore#ecotraveller#responsibletravel#wander
I spend most of my days in flights. If not, you’ll find me in front of my laptop finishing some work. I’m used to it, I can’t complain cause I’m actually happy with what I do. I enjoy the hustle and bustle in doing what I’m passionate about.
Although as much as I enjoy my work, I also have moments where I need a bit of downtime. It honestly doesn’t have to be grand, as simple as walking down a beach during a magnificent sunset, watching happy people walk by, witnessing dogs play with one another as they run through the sand, and being able to document this light & warm scene is enough to treat myself once in a while. It’s these simple moments that I genuinely appreciate, real moments that aren’t forced nor planned, when everything is slow and nothing is rushed. Now, I get why stories with happy endings oftentimes close with a sunset.
This quick video is entirely shot on my #OPPOReno2 . Recording footage with my smartphone has never been this great with it’s 5x Hybrid Zoom, Ultra Wide Angle Video, Ultra Steady Mode & Ultra Dark Mode.
Perspective comes from various encounters, it comes from seeing different angles not just in terms of creativity but in life as a whole. Traveling has adjusted my focus in terms of both, I realized how blessed we are to live in a planet that has so much to offer, that I never want to overlook it. I’ve learned how to see everything as a whole, that there can be multiple subjects aside from just myself. As much as people want to see more of me, I want to show more of God’s creation.
There are multiple subjects that can be seen in this photo, comment an emoji of your favorite. Mine would be the 🦀 Look closely to see it! 😆
This iconic rock formation has been the last location we’ve visited during our Sri Lanka trip with @destination_srilanka, spent about 2 weeks traveling around & haven’t seen enough of it. Until now, I still get to see different perspectives of this photo around social media which makes me want to go back. Still need to go freediving there, I heard a lot of good things about Sri Lanka’s marine life that I would love to explore 🐋

Life is an adventure, not a race. So slow down. Enjoy and be in each day. Honor the process. The failures. Because here it is where we truly grow. We are always so quick to define „success“ of ours and others just in terms of reaching goals as fast as possible, money and material things to fit in our socially acceptable norms. But also 20 rushed up trips per year will never replace one long and mind changing journey we take.
Rushing ourselves into everything, whether it is materialistic or not, because we believe we must keep up will never make us feel satisfied. It’s the opposite: We will never be or have enough if we are constantly comparing ourselves to others who seem to have figured it all out. Especially in times of Social Media where everyone live so light and perfect. But let me tell you a simple yet powerful secret: Everyone is on the same journey. With the same insecurities. We have more or less the same struggles. And everyone of us, without an exception, will face the only certain finish line which will come to all of us one day.
The book is already written. My father once told me this when I was younger. It was an essence sentence I forever kept within myself. So if we slow down and listen to our inner voice and intuition once in a while and enjoying the precious path called life which is given to all of us, this only one story we have will not just rush over us. And the pages and years will be filled with small stories which will be the big thing at the end. Life will not pass by while we were too busy achieving something we or others define to make us happy. Because happiness is still a journey and not a destination.
If you allow yourself to be into each day, being mindful and enjoy the fact of just being alive to do something for this world in the best way you can is the greatest success and source of happiness humankind will ever achieve. And, I am sure about that, the world would be a better one. The direction we take doesn’t matter. It is how honest and true we lived and how it served others what matters most.
