"Y desafiando el oleaje sin timón y timonel, por mis venas va ligero de equipaje sobre un cascarón de nuez mi corazón de viaje, luciendo los tatuajes de un pasado bucanero de un velero al abordaje de un no te quiero querer... Y como huir cuando no quedan islas para naufragar" 🎶🎶🎶 @compartiendoviaje.photobook#cancun#familygoals#love#rivieramaya

In the spirit of posting old photos of warmer times in warmer places, here's the beach for El Dorado Maroma.
It stormed that morning and was raining our whole visit there (that's why there's so much seaweed, otherwise they're really good at cleaning it up!). Still a great view (and warmer than Ohio 😁)!

The Yucatán peninsula in Mexico 🇲🇽 is relatively flat with no surface rivers, lakes or streams 💦 but huge underground water reservoirs hidden under the surface. So a cenote is basically a natural sinkhole where a cave ceiling has collapsed and the underground water is exposed and creates an amazing natural swimming pool in the middle of the jungle 💦🌿. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There are thousands of cenotes dotted all over Yucatán and their existence is pretty characteristic for region. There are also various different types of cenotes – some are deep water shafts with vertical walls, while others are wide and shallow, others are more or less open an clearly visible from the surface with only some parts hidden from view in a cavern while there are as well cenotes that are caves with only little holes in the ceiling that can only be reached through tunnels like Suytun Cenote which we visited the other day. But it’s not just what you see on the surface, cenotes are actually access points to vast networks of large underground water and cave systems.
Have you ever been to a cenote before or would you like to swim in one 😉🏊🏼♀️🌿?

La verdadera belleza no es de la cara o el cuerpo, es del alma.
Es tu magia, tu energía, tu actitud ❤️✨ ¡Feliz día!
Anger used to be my favorite, go-to emotion for difficult situations.
When I was a teenager and my stepfather unexpectedly walked out, I got angry.
When someone I cared about didn’t meet my expectations, I got angry.
When a guy ghosted or treated me immaturely, I got angry.
Getting angry was easy. It was comfortable. It was safe.
So long as I was angry, the perpetrator could stay a villain and I could be a victim to injustice.
Back in 2018, I hit a point when I was EXHAUSTED. I was tired of fighting, of kicking and screaming my way through life and treating it like a battle I had to win.
I just wanted to be at peace.
After some extensive shadow work with a coach, I realized that the anger was not ME. It was a defense mechanism.
Behind that anger was a scared little girl with mountains of sadness. Unresolved trauma that I’d been burying since childhood. Trust issues and trouble accepting the parts of me that I deemed “unlovable.”
By delving into these deep, dark corners of myself, I discovered that our emotions serve a purpose, and when you allow yourself to FEEL emotions instead of USE them to meet your needs, your relationships will improve, your decisions will come from an empowered place, and you’ll stop self-sabotaging yourself.
You’ll also connect to your gifts.
The more I familiarized myself with my anger, the more I realized that it came from the same place that fueled my passion.
I’m deeply passionate about what I do partially thanks to anger: because of the pain I went through in my past, I’m ruthlessly motivated to do everything in my power to help others overcome theirs.
This is what I practice, and it’s also what I teach: how to alchemize your pain into passion and use it to create an empowering story.
It’s not an overnight solution, but it will change your life over time. When you tap into the root of what drives you, you’re unstoppable. You’ll have endless energy to navigate through life’s challenges and turn them into opportunities.
I know that navigating your emotions can feel messy, and let me tell you, you’re never going to feel “ready” for it. But you don’t have to do it alone.
