With the New Year getting progressively closer, setting goals is even more of a hot topic in the realm of health-promotion behaviors. When it comes to sustained success and achievement, all goals are not created equal.
To effectively set goals, pairing intentions with actionable habits is essential to your success. Rather than relying on fleeting motivation, set yourself up to succeed by creating a concrete plan that you’ll be able to adhere to through discipline and repetition.
The research behind effective goal-setting doesn’t reveal some sexy secret with the missing ingredient to success. Those who successfully reach their goals are relentless in their pursuits, and consistently complete the day-to-day tasks that put them one step closer to where they want to be.
Instead of focusing only on outcome-oriented mastery goals, couple these with process-focused performance goals including the incremental steps that are necessary precursors to the final goal.
Here are some tips for creating effective goals based on the psychological research surrounding goal setting and task-performance:
1. Be specific: Clarity is key! Know exactly what you want to accomplish; being too general is often counterproductive.
3. Challenge yourself: Research indicates that sufficiently challenging goals are important in sparking and maintaining interest. Also, accomplishing a big goal can lead to increased self-efficacy.
4. Fully commit: This is where individual buy-in is essential. If you want something but tell yourself you can’t do it or don’t have time, you’ll likely fail at your attempts.
5. Receive periodic feedback: This is where a coach or accountability partner comes in! Scheduled check-ins are a great way to receive feedback. Periodic check-ins along the way also allow for readjustment of your plan.
6. Reduce task complexity: Keep it simple! Anchor your process-focused behaviors to routine to take the guess work out of things.
The last picture sums up how I feel about today...GRATEFUL and UNDONE! It was one of those days that marks a church and its people because of the intensity of the anointing. Mike Weaver of @bdwmusic brought the presence of God as he sang “All Things New” at the end of my message. After that the altars were packed in every service at every campus as our Pastors and Elders prayed over people for physical, emotional, and mental healing. Miracles occurred!
Comment below with the word “Grateful” if you are thankful for what God did today at @therefugenet . #ilovemychurch#kannapolisnc#multisitechurch#704#salisbury#greensboro#jesus#thisisrevival#whenhopecomes
"Yoga deals with health, strength, and conquest of the body. Next it lifts the veil of difference between the body and the mind. Lastly, it leads to the sadhaka to peace and unalloyed purity." BSK Iyengar in Light on Pranayama - My current Yoga read and the focus of my Yoga Practise.
But... Does anyone but me here find that some philosophy seems so simple and definitive? 🙋🏼♀️ I often like to think of life or even challenging tasks being like a spiral 🌀 and I think the way we approach our understanding of Yoga beyond the Yoga poses can be too.
Let's break down this philosophy statement above through this spiral lens 🌀
For most of us we start Yoga for our body or for some help with stress. This is the outer edge of the spiral. It begins very much as a physical practise. Through the Asana (poses) and pranayama (breath work). It can bring us to better health, strength and while I wouldn’t myself use the word conquest, it can bring us confidence in and with our body. This brings us a little further along this spiral path.
Next it bridges the gap between our mind and body. Brings back mindfulness, presence, unity.
Lastly through sadhana (practise) it brings us (sadhaka) peace.
I don’t necessarily believe that this is a linear process. I think this takes time to evolve and is more like a spiral, that maybe doesn’t end 🌀
Sometimes, you might feel like you have been at this point before. But you actually know a little more, have experienced a little more and hopefully you have learnt how to better apply what you have learnt, from your knew knowledge & experiences.
We might repeat this linear process a number of times in our day or week. Depending on life’s challenges and the consistency of our practise.
I believe that we do however come closer to the centre of the spiral 🌀 where the times of peace can become longer and easier to reach.
As our first full year has surpassed, I am extremely grateful for the progress 💡 The Bright Home Group of Keller Williams Realty has made. When we began this journey, it was our mission to create a great experience for our client's. Just as important, we set out to build a value based system for our agents to succeed and grow their business in any stage of their career. Sure it took many nights of sleeping on Bill's home office floor or futon couch as we worked to 1, 2, or 3 am in the morning just to get up and do it again by 7 or 8 am. Simply for a belief that we would build a team that we have today. Every member of our team has played an integral role in getting our us to where it is today. Without each and every effort, we would not be where we are today! Here is to big things to come in 2020 💥💥💥 #brighthomegroup#brighthomesdelmarva#kellerwilliams#kw#easternshoreliving#salisbury#sby#sussex#delmar

We had a great turnout for our #Minecraft#Salisbury event to mark two years of the business. Although there is still a great deal to build on the map, here is a quick tour of what was achieved today.
I love how the market place turned out after a team of five kids got to work on it. I also admire the brave few that took on the task of building #SalisburyCathedral
