I tried over and over again to get it on video, but always just missed it. Logan and Hodor have a weird friendship. They like to hang out together but bicker. Logan will pin his ears and gum Hodor’s butt (he doesn’t have a whole lot of teeth) and Hodor will act like he is going body check. They do this over and over....but still hang out together.
What’s that saying about the best laid plans? Well, the truck wouldn’t start. Thankfully, the vet could make a farm call...and thankfully everything was routine. Domino doesn’t have many teeth to work with anymore but the vet smoothed things out. Jubilee’s float was uneventful. Thank you for making it possible with your generous support. That’s two more residents up to date. In March we will try to raise funds for two more.😃❤️ #tobyslegacy#rescue#sanctuary#tlers#jube#jubilee#domino#float#thankyou

Roe Ethridge: Sanctuary at Gagosian Hong Kong presents new photographs by the American artist. Diverse photographic practices are entangled in Ethridge's work, from commercial and editorial photography to documentary and social media photography. The subtle visual codes the photographer embeds into his photographs prompt viewers to interrogate the intent of the photographer and impact of the image, questioning how the photographic image's status emerges from its relation to the real. Alternatingly memorializing, documenting, transforming, commodifying, and criticizing, Ethridge's complex photographic images prompt reflection on the power perceived in photographic images today. | #sanctuary@gagosian at 7/F Pedder Building, 12 Pedder Street until March 9 | 1. Just in time for Ash Wednesday, I received these fantastic prints in the mail today.
I found these from a dealer in Florida, but they’re block prints of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Providence.
I loved the graphic and illustrative quality of these two pieces - one black and white and the second in blue tones.
Although these depict St. Stephen’s, they could easily be images of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taunton, which was built during the same period and was where I attended parochial school.
The signature arches indicate the flowering of gothic revival architecture that took place in the mid and late nineteenth century. A movement that drew inspiration from Christian architecture of the medieval period.
Maybe the designers of such structures had the right idea. This artist’s view highlights the tendency of these sanctuaries to draw the viewer’s eye up, and to inspire contemplation and examination - of a both spiritual and aesthetic quality.
Once I do more research on the artist, I’ll probably write a longer form blog post about these pieces. And I’ll likely make one (or both) available for sale too. From my collection to yours!
In the mean time, I hope those of you who observe it have a peaceful Lent.

Our sanctuary photographer @victoria_celest_ is coming tomorrow to try to get some snow pictures. So I made a point of grooming this filthy beast this morning . Foolish waste of time apparently! He looked lovely for about 20 minutes 😂❤️😂!
The one...the only...miss Shadow the goofball 😹. Can you believe this black leopard was privately owned before coming to the sanctuary?
Head over to our website to learn her full story, and about how much she LOVES her wild-at-heart life 🐾💖.

“If you want to see yourself clearly, do not look into muddy water“
Our rescued animals are seen all over the world as meat. If they got their self worth from main stream beliefs, they would crumble. But when they look into our eyes, they see their reflections as beautiful, smart, affectionate, and worthy. Are you looking into muddy waters that distort who you are, or clear waters to see your beauty? Know who you are today! #selfworth#selflove#love#beauty#health#animals#animalrescue#animallovers#sanctuary#mygentlebarn#gentlebarn
Everything started with this little angel right here (not so little anymore)! I have done everything in my power to sustain @sleepypigfarm and everything has been going so smoothly. I just wanted to thank everybody for all of the love and support, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Tomorrow my amazing husband @spfpigman and I will be at @audreyroad in Ridgefield, CT for an amazing fundraiser to support the sanctuary, I hope to see you all there.
Let’s shop/ drink/ mingle/ meet new people all for the animals!!
If you set a New Year's resolution to be more active, we've got just the inspiration you need to keep it going!
Crystal came to the sanctuary in 2007 and eventually became part of Chimp Haven's "Gympanzee" program, which pairs staff with chimps to help them become more healthy and active.
Behavior Technician Robyn is Crystal's main walking buddy and trainer, and she recently shared this incredible update:
"Last September Crystal’s group moved into one of our brand new corrals, and since then she has walked with me for more than eight miles. In this new space, the chimps have access to a room where we can take their weight by asking them to stand on a stationary scale. Well, we found out she has lost around 60 pounds since her last physical in 2018!
"I have noticed more energy from her (is that even possible?!?) and she takes less breaks to get reinforcements like grooming or touching my shoes (she loves boots!), so we continue walking more.
"It is a true team effort, which includes watching what the chimps consume on a daily basis and adjusting accordingly. Crystal's walking club started in 2017 and since then she has clocked 30.58 miles with staff!"
The security footage here shows even a dreary day doesn't get these two down. Way to go, Crystal and Robyn! 💪 💪 💪
🔉🔊 On. . 🐾💦 Here is a little video from Brian to show the areas outside the Sanctuary that are also still affected by the flood, & to show how little dry land there is. .
Everyone has now had enough of the rains & is praying for it to end, but isn't that always the way. Come the next drought we shall be begging for the rains to arrive. So I for one am glad that the wells & water towers shall be full this year. 🙏🏽😊💦

Orvi living her BEST life while still waiting for her very own family.
My name is Maple and I live in paradise with my beautiful mixed-species family at a very special sanctuary called @kindredspiritsanctuary. #magic happens here!
You see we are all rescued animals, kindred spirits, and we all needed love and a place to call home.
My family and I have so many fun adventures together and we especially love to eat tree stars.
This place has shown me how it is to feel respected loved and equal. It’s so beautiful.
Please pop over to @kindredspiritsanctuary and see how it is for us to coexist in harmony together as one big family.
We would really love to share our adventures with you and please if you could give us some love and follow us and share our stories too, so we can continue to help others that are in need of sanctuary too.
Wendy continues to provide barn security. Unasked and a little exuberantly 😂

At the back of the woods on The Coastal Villa, one can hear the salmon stream of Chaster Creek as it flows down to Bonniebrook Beach just a short walk away. This little estuary where the creek meets the Salish Sea has always been my favorite places, where seals, ravens and Sunday strollers convene. This area has quaint old timer seaside cottages, and the coastline is graced with beautiful driftwood, sea grasses and blackberries growing along Ocean Beach Esplanade. A long pebbled beach, at low tide there are soft sandbars to feel beneath your barefeet. It’s one of the best beaches on #Sunshinecoastbc for swimming, beachcombing & catching a sunset. One might also catch sight of sea lions, eagles, deer and if lucky perhaps even a pod of local Orcas.

After I walked my property, learning of all the abundance growing in the ground, I warmed myself by a fire fueled with this chopped wood. Was wonderful to chat with the current owners and learn more about the properties history. I discovered the original owners were Dutch, hence the Belle de Boskoop apple trees in the garden! Tart apples great for baking...I can’t wait to see them bloom in the spring. There’s even one right outside the window of what will be my painting studio! Mmmm the scent of warm fire smoke & apple pie. That feels like home to me!

🇨🇦 🐳 In a press conference this morning in HALIFAX, Nova Scotia, Canada the Whale Sanctuary Project has announced that it will work together with Sherbrooke and the Municipality of the District of St. Mary’s on the Eastern Shore of Nova Scotia to create a seaside sanctuary in Port Hilford for whales being retired from entertainment parks.
“Of the hundreds of locations that we’ve researched in British Columbia, Washington state and Nova Scotia, Port Hilford stands out as the premier location for a whale sanctuary,” said Charles Vinick, executive director of the Whale Sanctuary Project.
Port Hilford offers an expansive area that can be netted off for the whales in a bay that’s open to the ocean but is sheltered from storms. It has access to necessary infrastructure and plenty of room along the shore for the facilities that will be needed to care for the animals, as well as for an onsite education and interpretive center.
“It’s an ideal location for whales coming from marine parks and aquariums,” Vinick said, “You couldn’t ask for a more welcoming and eager community than the people of the Sherbrooke area.”
Intelligent and socially complex animals:
The plan to locate a sanctuary in Nova Scotia comes in the wake of Parliament passing Bill S-203 in 2019 to bring an end to keeping whales and dolphins captive in Canada.
The next steps in working toward the creation of a sanctuary will be to work with local fishers and community members to further define the vision for the whale sanctuary, and to initiate the regulatory processes needed to establish the site.
The Whale Sanctuary Project’s objective is to have the sanctuary ready to receive whales by the end of 2021.
