HG Wells was a pioneer in many ways, not just his science fiction books. one of those being of ideas and concepts which spurred many aircraft concepts and designs that came after.

BRUIE is a robotic exploration platform and will eventually undergo testing in Antarctica. Researchers hope that BRUIE or the Buoyant Rover for Under-Ice Exploration, which is currently under development will help build knowledge of strange worlds. It's possible that BRUIE future could one day put it on an icy ocean moons like Saturn’s Enceladus. Where the buoyant robot will explore around the ice upside-down using its wheels. – NASA | JPL
Worked with Neil deGrasse Tyson and students from St Margaret Marys in Melbourne yesterday and the crew and I are still buzzing. For 3 hours Neil inspired all of us with his phenomenal knowledge humour stories and warmth. This will probably be my last Nat Geo project but it will be the most enjoyable shoot of my career. Talent to die for, children who live to learn, 2 crews of Melbournes best and the support of the wonderful team at Scienceworks. You’re all ⭐️ 🌟 💫 to me!!!! #science#scienceworks#melbourneplanetarium#neildegrassetyson#astronomy#planetarium#stmargaretmary
Daniel Kahneman describes mental life by the metaphor of two angers, called System 1 and System 2, which respectively produce fast and slow thinking.
System 1 is more influential than your experience tells you, and it is the secret author of many of the choices and judgements you make.
System 2 is activated when an event is detected that violates the model of the world that System 1 maintains.
🤖 Earlier this month, students from Sacajawea's Advanced Engineering and Robotics program presented at the PLTW - Project Lead The Way National Summit in Anaheim, CA. They were one of five groups selected to speak at this STEM conference, where they showed off the modifications they made to the robot used by the Spokane Bomb Squad.
Oh...did we mention they were the first public school group to ever present at this conference?
This was my first attempt ever at capturing Venus. It was fun to bring out the Celestron NexStar 8SE again. I used a mono camera this time and added color afterwards based on other pictures I saw in the internet. Next time I will use a color camera.

I train without using a weight belt - I like to brace/protect my spine and transfer force with only the flesh and bone I was born with.
Some people say "shake what yo momma gave ya" but I prefer to stabilize what my momma gave me.
The main purpose of a weight belt is to provide an exterior object to push against, thus increasing pressure/stability in the torso.
Here's what I do instead: I eat a full meal and I avoid going to the bathroom before training.
If you have a belly full of food and a butt full of poop, this serves to provide extra material to brace against, thus increasing intra-abdominal pressure and taking your performance to the next level.
As a bonus, if you barf or soil yourself during training now you are officially hardcore and have something to boast about to your friends and family.
Did you catch this morning’s segment on @today_show1 with @karlstefanovic_@allisonlangdon on current diet trends and why our traditional approach to weight loss i.e. working towards a goal such as marathon or a wedding doesn’t work long-term. We can all abstain for short periods of time; we had to in order to survive during our time as hunter gatherers. Performance is not a goal in time, it is an unwavering commitment to life. For example, being a better role model for your family, having better health, seeing your children grow old. The short-term challenges are only setting us up for a lifetime of misery - science has proven this. Take ownership of your health and weight, and paint the picture you want to be. #IntervalWeightLoss
#HubbleClassic The Ant Nebula (also known as Menzel 3) resembles the head and thorax of a garden-variety ant. It's produced by a dying Sun-like star as it sheds its outer layers of gas.

Nature is NEAT 🌱
We started off our Ecosystem unit by doing a nature walk around our school. We observed non-living and living things. The students were able to bring in their own technology to capture photos of their findings.
In the next couple of weeks we will have TADPOLES in our classroom. 🥴 What do y’all do for your Ecosystem unit?
Science is amazing! Dagmar Turner, An orchestra violinist, played her violin during an operation to remove a brain tumor so surgeons could know they were not accidentally damaging her hand movement and coordination. The procedure was done at at King’s College Hospital in London by Professor Keyoumars Ashkan, consultant neurosurgeon. While her tumor was removed, Turner was brought out of anesthesia to play the violin, ensuring that the delicate areas of her brain that allowed her to play went unbothered. The doctors managed to remove over 90 percent of the tumor! • 🎥 video credit: @kingscollegehospital#science#amazing#scienceiscool#amazingvideos#crazy#whoa#wow#insane#socool#godbless#kingscollegehospital#brain#tumor#removal
We mourn the loss of #FrankPress , president of NAS from 1981 to 1993, who passed away in January. Dr. Press, a distinguished geophysicist, also served as science advisor to President Jimmy Carter, and was awarded the National Medal of Science in 1994.
In this 1995 portrait from our collection by painter #JonFriedman , you will find many symbols relating to Dr. Press' work. The map relates to Dr. Press' expertise in plate tectonics, geology, and the geography of the ocean floor. The laptop, which now looks outdated, is from the early 1990s when he was NAS president. The mug features the NAS seal. Dr. Press' well known passion for science and for his work can be seen in his facial expression.
What other details do you notice in the painting?

Lots of information we're taught to believe in derived from manipulative unproven theories. What's very important to note is that these "scientific" or "historical" theories were never proven to be true to begin with. #ImJustHereToMakeYouThink
Tupolev Tu-160 Blackjack Long-range Strategic Bomber/Russian Air Force
👉The Tu-160 (Western reporting name Blackjack) is the world's largest operational bomber. It is nicknamed the White Swan by the pilots. Dwarfing the similar-looking B-1B Lancer, it is the heaviest combat aircraft ever built. Unlike the B-1B, the Tu-160 bomber remains committed to both low-level penetration (at transonic speeds) and high-level penetration at speeds of about Mach 1.9.
