Book Review “The Only Plane in the Sky” 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟(5/5 stars)
This is the best, yet, most heart wrenching, yet most heroic book I’ve ever read.
I thought I knew a lot about 9/11. I’ve seen the shows, read stories, watched it live on TV in school. However, reading these personal accounts of the day before, day of and days/ years to follow; I leaned, I knew so little.
This is a slow read, but how can an oral history on 9/11 be anything but slow. So many emotions, so many personal, heart wrenching stories. But so, so, so many heroes 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 a must read book! #neverforget#bookreview#september11

5k. If you've never heard of Stephen Siller's inspiring story read on below. Also, check out all the great things the foundation does...
On September 11, 2001, Stephen, who was assigned to Brooklyn’s Squad 1, had just finished his shift and was on his way to play golf with his brothers when he got word over his scanner of a plane hitting the North Tower of the World Trade Center. Upon hearing the news, Stephen called his wife Sally and asked her to tell his brothers he would catch up with them later. He returned to Squad 1 to get his gear.
Stephen drove his truck to the entrance of the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel, but it had already been closed for security purposes. Determined to carry out his duty, he strapped 60 lbs. of gear to his back, and raced on foot through the tunnel to the Twin Towers, where he gave up his life while saving others.

This book is incredible. We downloaded the audiobook to listen in the car yesterday, and then the next thing I knew I was reading and googling until 2 AM! I’m still only 80 pages into the book but I just had to share with you how amazing it is!
THE ONLY PLANE IN THE SKY is an oral history of September 11, 2001 and provides an account of all the events of that day. The confusion, the fear, the shock. If you remember 9/11, you’ll recognize hoe you felt. If you were too young to remember 9/11, then this is a really important book, in that it gives you a glimpse into what it was like to live through.
Also, the audiobook has a 45 person cast! I highly recommend both the print version and audio. This is a book you’ll want to keep for your library forever. @nycbookgirl@allisonreadsdc and @thecrazybookhoarder all influenced me to pick this one up.
Is this on your TBR?

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Well friends, I finished “Fall and Rise: The Story of 9/11” and I 100% recommend it to everyone. It should be required reading for students. These stories are so important and Zuckoff makes the tragic and horrifying event so personal. He “creates a memorial to all those who were killed and provides a record for all who survived. Plus one more: to build an understanding to amount those who follow.” It’s beautiful and hard and hopeful and sacred. No matter how much you don’t think you could handle reading it, be brave and find a copy. This book will stick with me for a long, long time. #akmarshallreads#mitchellzuckoff#fallandrise#bookreview#bookstagram#currentlyreading#september11#flight93#bloodbrothers#flight77
Went to the flight 93 crash site memorial today, definitely worth the trip the people who designed this park honored the memories of the victims very well, if you're ever in the area its definitely worth checking out
Thank you @katysimshauser for sharing this♥️ 🚨 READ TO THE BOTTOM TO CREATE CHANGE IN YOUR LIFE!!! .
In 6 seconds you can kiss someone like you mean it.
In 6 seconds you can hold open a door.
In 6 seconds you can wait for a little straggler to catch up. “I’ll wait for you,” you can even say.
In 6 seconds you can take a deep breath.
In 6 seconds you can let it go. “It’s not worth it,” you can say.
In 6 seconds you can tuck a note in a lunch box or in a pocket. It takes 2 seconds to draw a heart.
In 6 seconds you can say you’re sorry.
In 6 seconds you can cut yourself some slack.
In 6 seconds you can throw away that picture, that pair of pants, that inner bully that keeps you from loving this day, this you.
In 6 seconds you can feel the sunshine.
In 6 seconds you decide it’s time to stop looking back.
In 6 seconds you can whisper, “It’s gonna be okay,” to yourself or someone who’s scared.
I used to sound like a broken record. “I don’t have time,” I’d always say.
But then I realized what could happen in a mere 6 seconds.
It’s enough to make a bad day good …
It’s enough to bring life back to your weary bones …
It’s enough to remember what really matters in the midst of so much that doesn’t.
It's enough to change history. -Rachel Macy Stafford #september11#onlylovetoday#changehistory#loveisstronger#6secondchallenge#strong#fit#fitness#motivation#narrabri#narrabribusiness
This book is over a week late and is on hold by someone else. I am unable to renew it, yet I am also unable to give it back because I’m not done reading these precious and brave stories of survivors and victims. It is not something I can rush through, nor is it something I’m ready to send back without finishing. It’s taken me a long time to read this one. The words are heavy and somber. There are stories of hope, yet also so much pain. It is beautifully written and I would recommend it to anyone. I just can’t pick up the pace to finish. #akmarshallreads#fallandrise#mitchellzuckoff#libraryfines#bookstagram#currentlyreading#whattoreadnext#morseinstitutelibrary#september11
Saw a pretty amazing thing tonight at the gym. This firefighter was on the stair climber in full equipment, including his mask and oxygen tank. After about a half hour, I saw him finishing and taking his gear off so I went over to tell him how much I respected what he was doing. I figured he was training for a firefighter exam, but when I commented on it, he exclaimed, "110 floors! Took me 30 minutes, 10 seconds." 110 floors... OMG. It's September 11 and he had just climbed the equivalent of 110 floors like the firefighters did in the World Trade Center. Apparently, this is a tradition that many firefighters do to honor the 343 firefighters who lost their lives in the line of duty that day. It's a helluva tribute! #110floors#september11#neverforget

NEVER FORGET🇺🇸 The New Smyrna Beach Fire Department shared this photo of a sandcastle that was built on the beach on Sept. 11 this year. “We do not know who the artist was but if anyone does please give them a shout out." #neverforget#september11#fox35
/We should never forget the lessons of #September11 .
We should not remain indifferent to the growth of extreme islamism.
It’s a deadly virus that knows no frontiers and must be fought everywhere, both from the inside and from the outside.
It threatens our civilization.
