Cardoon (Cynara cardunculus), a close relative of Artichoke (Cynara scolymus) and beautifully bitter!! I wonder how the cardoon leaf tincture would compare to an artichoke leaf tincture therapeutically? Anyone used it before?
This magnificent plant is growing in a good friend's garden and was calling out to me in the morning light. The young leaf stems are traditionally eaten in spring and their bitter quality certainly stands out! I have enjoyed an exquisite cardoon soup made by @shroppiechef, delicious 😋.
Beautifully architectural with stunning huge purple flowers. May be one to consider growing in my patch 🤔
Thank you Mother Nature 🙏💕

Aqua pillbox with 3d laser cut beaded flowers. For a small pillbox the veiling and ostrich feathers give it the illusion of being a more substantial headpiece.
It’s very feminine and easy to wear, fastened with elastic.
Who loves pancakes? Next Tuesday is Shrove Tuesday a day that we have come to know in more recent times as pancake day but the origins of this celebration are rooted very firmly in Christian tradition. Did you know the name Shrove Tuesday originates from the ritual of shriving? This is when Christians would go to a priest to confess their sins and receive absolution.
When a person receives absolution for their sins, they are forgiven and released from the guilt and pain that they have caused them.
Lent for Christians is often a time of giving things up, Shrove Tuesday is the time to use up the foods that aren't allowed in Lent.
There are many foods that some Christians - historically and today - do not eat: foods such as meat and fish, fats, eggs, and milky foods.
In days gone by, to reduce food waste, families would have a feast on the shriving Tuesday and eat up all the foods that wouldn't last the forty days of Lent without going off.
Eating up the fats on Shrove Tuesday became commonly known by the French name Mardi Gras ('fat Tuesday'). Pancakes became associated with Shrove Tuesday as they were a dish that could use up all the eggs, fats and milk in the house with just the addition of flour.
We hope you enjoy your Pancakes on Shrove Tuesday - don't forget the sugar and lemons - or tell us how you enjoy eating yours?

Stars shine like embers, rising from a fire.
I've been waiting too long for a clear night when I'm free for another attempt at astrophotography. Friday turned out ideal, not a cloud in the sky. The milky way was visible to the naked eye on the Long Mynd. Nothing too complicated composition wise, I just wanted to capitalise on the galaxy erupting upwards from the horizon. This was taken with a Samyang 14mm on a Canon 6D. ISO5000 f/2.8 8secs. A low Kelvin (3800) helped cut down the man-made light. The stars aren't perfectly in focus, but I'm happy with it for a first star photography success.
Yep had to repost this one, totally forgot to post the hashtags last time.
What do you think, seem like a place you'd like to live?
I normally try to steer clear of photographing domestic properties, but this intriguing little doorway appeared like something from a fairy tale at the foot of Shrewsbury castle. Hidden behind an icy strewn doorway, the entrance to Argent House stands high above Shrewsbury station, giving commanding views of the town.
