What is the key to newborns sleeping longer? #Swaddling !! This ancient custom has been around for centuries because it works. Containing a baby's immature startle reflex by safely wrapping her little arms tight alongside the torso will help her not wake as she relaxes into slumber. ⠀
I love a traditional muslin for swaddling but you need be an expert wrapper to keep a wriggly baby from escaping it! ⠀
The #weegoamigo#muslins are soft, breathable and have a generous size of 1.2 meters. They are super versatile! However if you struggle with the art of swaddling with a muslin #themiracleblanket will be your next bet. This wrap is Houdini proof! It consists of two inner wings that wrap your wriggly baby's arms keeping them side by side while the outer wings wrap around your baby like a burrito! One of my most favourite #sleep aids...Speaking of #burritos , The #BurritoBabySwaddle is also a favourite especially for baby's who love their hands closer to their face for soothing. Offering both swaddling options (arms down or across the chest) it will keep any baby happily sleeping. This wrap has a great stretch to it, the cotton material is soft and breathable keeping your baby snugly wrapped. Huge in size catering for those bigger bubs who need to be swaddled longer into their infancy. Check these swaddles out - all available from our website https://moonlightbabysleep.com.au/shop/swaddles/
Being a full time human can be exhausting at times. Trying to stay present in the moment is also a challenge for me. My brain is always thinking about my next move. So, my favorite thing to do when I'm feeling overwhelmed and I just want to chill...is to sleep. What do you do to relax? ⠀

There are many passion flower benefits — it may help reduce and possibly eliminate insomnia, anxiety, inflammation from skin irritations and burns, menopause, ADHD and even more serious conditions such as seizures, high blood pressure and asthma, just to name a few.
Passion flower is a plant in which the parts of the plant above the ground are used, in different forms, to provide natural healing purposes and food flavoring. You may have heard of passion flower tea or passion flower extract — and it’s also found as infusions, teas, liquid extracts and tinctures.
It’s common to see passion flower combined with other calming herbs such as valerian root and lemon balm, chamomile, hops, kava and skullcap.
Passion flower may be a great alternative for you if you have anxiety, problems sleeping and struggle to focus, those nagging, uncomfortable hot flashes and even problems with high blood pressure. Numerous studies have found it to be very beneficial, even for children with ADHD. Though it is important to make sure your doctor approves its use and to pay attention to any possible side effects, you can start with small doses. Passion flower could be the perfect solution, especially when combined with other relaxation-inducing herbs, to create calmness in your day, without affecting your productivity. Since stress induces many other problems within our bodies, you may want to consider trying passion flower to see it it can help reduce stress and get you some much-needed shut eye!
I know.. this can be an awkward topic. We don’t often talk about our children continuing to wet the bed past the age of 3 or 4. It’s not something parents like to share. It is an important topic though.
Often times when a child is bed wetting it can point to an airway issue. •
How can bed wetting and airway dysfunction be connected? They are two different things, right? You see, the body has a way of doing what ever it takes to get the oxygen it needs. OXYGEN IS EVERYTHING. When a child is not breathing well at night, the brain will detect a desaturation in oxygen. Because of this, our body will move oxygen from a place it doesn’t think needs it to another place it deems necessary. A lot of times it is taken from the bladder. When this happens, the bladder can release - causing the child to wet the bed.
Same thing goes for adults! If you are an adult that wakes up multiple times during the night to go to the bathroom.. this could be because of an airway distinction!
Next time you go to the dentist ask your Doctor a few questions.
1. Do you treat airway dysfunction in children?
2. Is bed wetting a sign of an airway issue?
3. How can I find out if my child would be a good candidate for treatment in airway dysfunction?

Sleep Tip from @takingcarababies! Did you know that many babies are born thinking days are for sleeping 😴 and nights are for partying? 🎉 It's TRUE! Days and nights are not regulated in those early weeks.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So what's a new parent to do to help a newborn learn the difference between days and nights??⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ➡️️When it’s daytime and you want your baby to be awake- throw open those curtains and switch on the lights. Try to get your little one outside for a bit if the weather allows. You'll want everything to say to your baby: "It's daytime: time to be awake, interact, and play." ➕Please know: this does NOT mean that naptime needs to be bright. Feel free to make it dark for naps.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
➡️️When it's time for bed at night, dim the lights during your bedtime routine. Then, keep your baby's sleep environment as dark as possible all night long. This is a cue to your baby that nights are for sleeping. ➕Turn off those night lights while sleeping! During night feedings, try to maintain the lowest light that is safe.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Any parents out there who saw this mixed-up baby schedule? How long did it take your babies to get days and nights straight? Tag an expectant or new parent.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Great News! It's finally live - New Sleep Tedx Talk 😴
With the wonderful invention of the light bulb and devices like smartphones, Ipads, and of course Netflix, the lure of 24-hour-a-day fun or work (knowing somewhere, in some time zone someone else is working while you indulge in sleep), the pull to neglect sleep has never been stronger.
In the ‘ROI of Sleep,’ I explore the return on investment of consistently getting great sleep. Sleep is the foundation of health and unfortunately, it’s also usually the first thing we sacrifice and the last thing we should when we’re trying to get it all done.
My hope is that this talk helps people rethink the value and importance of sleep by providing real-world examples of how getting quality sleep is positively compounded across our health, relationships, productivity, creativity, and performance.
The ROI of sleep is worth the nightly investment and if you're not sleeping your sacrificing. Sacrificing in your health. Sacrificing in your relationships. Sacrificing in your business/career and you're sacrificing in the possibility of who you could become. Link to the talk is the in Bio ☝🏻 #tedx#sleep#performance#ROI#health@nutritionschool@miamiwellnessclub@tedx_official@tedxocala
24 month sleep progression ⠀
The terribly FUN two’s ⠀
Perspective is everything 😉⠀
So this progression comes in pretty hot around the 2 year mark. Lots of things going on. Talk about finding your voice, if you live in our house this means finding your highest pitched scream. 🤦♀️⠀
This is around the time when we start to likely change the bedtime routine because the mini voice is telling us how they want to live their life. Bedtime in some houses can become quite stressful. ⠀
They might decide they don’t need to nap cause we’ll they are a big boy or girl now, and the world is far too interesting not to explore ALL of the time. ⠀
They might experience some night terrors or nightmares that can make sleep a pretty scary place. ⠀
They might eat a lot on the fly vs any kind of sit down. This can feel like they are ALWAYS snacking. ⠀
They may decide they want to explore potty training. I want to emphasize that this does NOT mean that anyone is behind if this isn’t the case, but also that if they are interested we also don’t need to force it. 😉⠀
They also have a lot of big feelings being felt and they want someone who knows how to hold it for them, hold it down. ⠀
This stage is a lot of work, but I like to look at it as exploring who that mini person is becoming. In this stage I want to invite you to do what feels right. Don’t get caught in the “ if I do this now I’m doing it forever mindset “ Explore some boundaries, understand the frustration and like always get your breaks in. ⠀
Stick to your routines, and see if you can turn the troubling times into fun times. ⠀
You’ve got this. 👊

Pregnant friends - get the @halosleep sleep sack. It’s amazing. River falls asleep right away when he’s in it. We use it at night as his swaddle - bonus that it’s a nice warm wearable blanket. As of right now little man let’s us sleep in 3ish hour stretches before I wake him for feeding. Nursing is going very well! Learning a lot everyday and riding the ways of this newborn life. Tomorrow we have an adventure planned! 😂 could be interesting. Stay tuned!

I can’t believe in the next few months we are taking the babies on their second holiday abroad .... to “Australia”.
Are they extremely lucky or are we extremely crazy .... I’m thinking a bit off both!
Long haul with three 2 year olds..... first flight 14 hours, 2 hour stop over and then another 7 hour flight .... I need as many tips as possible so I survive this trip 😩 I’m even up for offers if anyone want to come and help!
On a positive our bedboxs have arrived from @jetkidscom and I couldn’t be happier, I’m hoping these are going to be an absolute game changer and I’m going to have 3 sleeping babies from take off to landing ..... ok maybe a little optimistic but at least a few hours sleep yea??
