He always thought of the sea as 'la mar' which is what people call her in Spanish when they love her. Sometimes those who love her say bad things of her but they are always said as though she were a woman. Some of the younger fishermen, those who used buoys as floats for their lines and had motorboats, bought when the shark livers had brought much money, spoke of her as 'el mar' which is masculine. They spoke of her as a contestant or a place or even an enemy. But the old man always thought of her as feminine and as something that gave or withheld great favours, and if she did wild or wicked things it was because she could not help them. The moon affects her as it does a woman, he thought.

I still remember the day I asked Jenny to transition our marriage to an open marriage, man what a whirlwind.. I’m not going to lie things got really tough but I learned to embrace myself and my truth in a make it or break it kind of way. The last few years have been a testimony of love and acceptance. Loving your partner isn’t about what they can give you, it’s about letting each other “just be”. That is precisely what we are working on here. Has it been easy, no! Has it been worth it, yes! I have never felt as alive as I do now. Thank you Jenny for allowing me to be, well...me- during this transition of my life I have heard the most intense judgements of my own personal choices, I have been sworn at, derided, dismissed but in all of that I have learned to stand in my power and accept me for me, and most of all I’ve spent an exhaustive three years learning about how to make a relationship last, and that’s just what I’m doing! Here we are almost 20yrs later and more in love now than ever- #openmarriages#openrelationship#love#spiritualawakening#smallislandbigheart#relationshipgoals#relationships#therapy
In a decaying society, art, if it is truthful, must also reflect decay. And unless it wants to break faith with its social function, art must show the world as changeable. And help to change it.
Last week, my mother, Ira Bynoe and Glynis King through her preschool Glen's Pre School raised funds to help the displaced victims of Hurricane Dorian who are now in Nassau housed in several shelters across the island.
There are currently 13 shelters housing over 2000 people, and they are still in desperate need of essentials. The outpouring of support and love continues to happen it we are all encouraged and buoyed up by this. As mentioned last week, in collaboration with Jackson Petit and Stephanie StFluer, we donated the first round of supplies and care packages to the displaced Haitian communities at Bahamas Academy.
This week we are doing the same, and I am happy to share that we raised a total of $3363.45USD or $9114.94 ECD during the slow season from the kind and big-hearted people of Bequia. I have never been disappointed by Bequians; they continue to shine and give me hope even when they have very little in these especially dark times.
Thank you to the following preschoolers and their parents: Naya, Jalorn, Jaden, Serena, Eli, Brenique, Emily, Brielle, Amenenhet, Davino, Kemary, Daniel, Jalon, Kelron, Devonte, Aquiel, Keaton, Jamarion, Jaliyah, Adian, Bryce, Amaurie, Renesmae, Andres, Jozani, Paris, Jayceon, Ryder, Naeya, Kenoly, Jhene, Sawyer, Thiago, Adinara, Kylie R, Saloane and Ashton.
We appreciate and love your kind hearts.

Life has a way of throwing curveballs at you. Plans change, things don’t go how you imagine and surprises are around every corner. Shit happens. And if you worry about things you can’t control or complain about things in life you can’t change, you will get nowhere fast. Problems and obstacles in life, come in sets, like waves, but what matters most is what you do when you are faced with them. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Excited to be heading back to Fiji next week. A place where I can be 'truly' present, purge my feelings, find my fire, and surf my fuckin' brains out. // #smallislandbigheart#lifeinforwardmotion
