Meeting one person that makes you complete is lucky. Meeting two people that complete you is impossible. Three? Four? Even more than that? It will take time for me to properly explain, to show the world how much these people at @sncmfacw mean to me. This tribe of writers inspire me every day. Being around them this residency, watching some graduate, watching others begin... we took a photo together because we can feel the change coming. We took a photo together because one day, young writers like we are now, will look at it and say “Wow! Look at them all right here. I’m one place at one time.” These photos can not explain what these people mean to me. You’ll have to read their art to understand that. Right now, we’re the literary world’s best kept secret. But soon, very soon, these people around me will be the ones talked about. Mark my words. @greggysgonz@tenpercentfunk@jacobssolamon#SNCMFA#SNCMFACW#Writers#Writing#BigMoves#BestKeptSecret#SierraNevadaCollege@sierranevadacollege

My fifth and final packet of my final MFA semester is done! Sixty-five pages turned in and annotations on thirteen middle grade books. But it’s not over yet! Still to come:
Phone call with mentor
Edit entire book (again and again)
Turn in thesis (whole middle grade book)
Prep for residency (read and write)
Attend residency for ten days in Ireland!
Thesis reading (in a pub in Ireland)
Wrap up school work
Aug. 21 MFA is complete!
This book is middle grade perfection. It’s full of spirit, tears, warmth, laughter, and meaning. It’s a must-read. I just finished it for my monthly reading as I wrap up my final semester in grad school @sncmfacw. I checked it out from the library, but now I have to buy a copy because it deserves a permanent spot on my bookshelf. #mg#kidlit#wcya#sncmfa#mfa#books#bookstagram
Watch our world—poignant and necessary stories are coming your way! Congratulations to this fabulous and fearless group of women writers. This is only the beginning! #sncmfa#graduation#writersofinstagram

Conversation complete, now on to the open house!
Scroll through for a few pics of the pieces I made for my @snc.mfaia Midway, loosely titled “regalia.”
(for people who like this stuff: all pieces made from cast-in-place quartz in sterling silver, plus thorny branches for the scepter handle.) #sncmfa#atxartist#austinartist#texastotahoe
Returning to my "real" world, the one overflowing with children, chores, and chickens. And so much love. A sweet sadness leaving residency at SNC MFA in Creative Writing. Also filled with love, dreams, support, and inspiration. There is no other place to study as a writer...no better place. #snc#snctahoe#sncmfa@snc_mfa_creative_writing
