I’ve realized a few things about myself lately. And it’s because I’ve been paying attention to my own reaction to stress.
And honestly, despite my previous (and slightly oblivious😳) claim to be able to sleep through anything (I know... insert 😂 here)... the reality is, that’s just not the case anymore. In fact, here’s what I know:
When my family is stressed, I take on a lot of their emotions. And the first thing it impacts is my sleep. And then I’m overtired, and not responding well to life, and the cycle just keeps on rolling... So, I decided to do something about it, and I set myself up a new sleep routine. Every night for the past week I’ve been doing the exact same thing before bed: First I put a few drops of @sajewellness Dream State in my diffuser and breathe it in deeply. I roll the Tranquility roll-on on my pulse points and the soles of my feet and then I roll my face with a jade roller (it’s cold and it feels nice... it seriously helps my face relax!). And I do the same thing. Every night.
It helps me. The routine, the calmness inspired by Saje’s amazing sleep blends, and just being aware of it. It helps me sleep.

Today Instagram announced new community guidelines that will help prevent young people from being exposed to harmful weight loss and diet content on its platform. Basically, Instagram will hide bullshit weight loss tea, lollipops, laxatives and diet pill promotions from influencers to people under 18, and anything promoting "miraculous" weight loss products will be removed entirely. This is a huge win in the fight against the crazy diet industry, which is prying on vulnerable teens who are jumping on social media for advice and inspiration. We, as users, also will be able to report posts that we think violate these new policies, and Instagram will review them to decide whether they need to be restricted or taken down. HECK yeah.
How fast do essential oils work? It takes only 22 seconds for the molecules to reach the brain, in 2 minutes the oils will be in the bloodstream and 20 minutes they will effect every single cell of the body. How incredible is that? Essential oils work with the body. Each and every day I am thankful for these bottles of magic plant juice. The blue on my wrist is from one of my favorite oils, Valor. I use this oil religiously, multiple times a day to inspire confidence and courage. I can’t live without it!💙
There’s something so satisfying in transforming interiors! Having the ability to envision potential in any given space is honestly a gift and I’m so thankful for it! .

Saturday October 26th 11-1pm:

I’m having a bit of a “blue Monday” which is unusual for me. It’s been a tough 24 hours due to some “stuff” (yup I’m human) but this makes my heart sing. We know that most people in our neighborhood lack the resources and/or accessibility to have fresh produce to feed themselves and their families. Last year we started sharing our garden’s abundance with them. This year we even planted a little extra just for this purpose. I was just sitting here reflecting on my week in Utah and I am SO GRATEFUL that my friend introduced me to DoTERRA five years ago. ⠀

Sometimes I have trouble falling and staying asleep after a long day. However, over the years, I have taken the time to invest in natural remedies that help me sleep soundly, and feel more energized the following day. Here are a few:
1. Blue Lotus Tea - this really helps me with anxiety as the tea promotes a sense of euphoria, while cooling down the nervous system and relaxing the whole body.
2. Faith Journaling - my faith is a huge part of my wellness journey. At the end of the day, I like to write down any reflections, positive affirmations, and prayers accompanied by scripture so that I can set an intention for the following day. This really helps me go to bed with a sense of peace and confidence that God is in control. While I strive to journal every night, sometimes it is just not feasible due to my busy travel schedule.
3. Aromatherapy - essential oils have been part of my self-care routine for years. You may have seen me show various diffusers in my stories and here on my feed. BODY CHECKING. 〰️ Do you analyze certain parts of your body when you look in the mirror? Maybe right before you get in the shower you subconsciously think: “damn, I wish my stomach was flatter.”
I think we underestimate the impact these repetitive and seemingly harmless thoughts can have on our everyday life and body satisfaction/love.
Analyzing our bodies has become normalized in a culture of before and after pictures and comparison. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for working out to make yourself feel better and improving your physical health, but I think that the goals we tie to our health and bodies should be around nourishment and how you feel in your body, not solely a physical/appearance metric.
Something I’ve been working on is replacing those small criticizing thoughts that contribute to body dissatisfaction with “I’m so grateful for my legs for getting me through that workout or walk home today”, or “I am powerful”, or “my body is beautiful because of everything it does for me and that is enough”. We talk about words of affirmation for our loved ones but what about for yourself?
