IT’S ONLY BEAUTIFUL FOR A MOMENT OR TWO AND THEN IT REALLY DOESNT MATTER ANYMORE, DOES IT?
// Do you ever get the feeling that time is eating itself? I mean, we knew back in 1999 that it was the end of the line, the Prince song wasn’t the future anymore and we were going to actually party like it was 1999 on New Year’s Eve 1998 because it was actually going to be 1999.
Anyone remember that night? Did you have fun?
So we knew that the 20th century was over, and the next 10 years would be a regurgitation if the last 50 years or so. And we weren’t wrong... felt like we did a 40’s, 50’s, 60’s, 70’s and 80’s revival between 00 and 10, and then braced ourselves for the 90’s revival (and there it was.) every couple years rock, punk, new wave, and r&b loom for a comeback... but popular culture remains a re edit of the past.
Rock and Roll was a radical demand for truth, integration, raw feelings, the blues acquired and expressed by anyone with long hair and enough guts to get into stage and do it. Sing about gnomes, or whatever. Right on.
Reggae was a Caribbean response to Motown, and a call for justice, freedom, and consciousness.
Bowie was a movement against the denim wearing folk artists who were “real”. So art rock embraced charade and made icons.
Punk said tear it all down and sang for the working class and the disenfranchised.
Hip hop did the same thing. Like reggae, these were the melodic, self assured voices of the people of the inner city, working people’s children that didn’t want to “get down and boogie oogie oogie” at all.
Electronics began as art and obsession and became accessible and made music we hadn’t dreamt of yet possible.
New romantic/new wave asked bourgeois questions of shop girls and hotel clerks, like the mods before them, it was gender bending & class smashing.
Following these ribbons in the air is a fun pastime. Gives us a false sense of understanding.
It doesn’t matter which way you go, take it to the streets, or ride the big elevator up, but retroactive fascinations are never revolutionary.
Let me see your wild burst of creativity.
Gimme some truth. #startsomething
It shouldn't be about new year's resolutions. Let's be real, we all do those for a little while and then give up and go back to our old ways because it is easier.
This year I started my year rough. I was having panic attacks, anxiety, my PCOS was flaring and I lost control of my hypoglycemia. I was going thru all that in January.
I went to see doctors, took supplements, started attempting meditation and even drinking celery juice. You mention it, I probably tried it. I wanted to feel better!
The problem was that they were all temporary fixes. I wasn't looking at the bigger picture.
You have to heal your body inside in order to help the other problems and symptoms you have.
Choose you. Choose to heal you. Nutrition is everything. Exercise is an added important bonus. Are you with me? I would love the opportunity to help you and tell you my story and how I have been able to make changes to my life.

Life is inherently risky. There is only one big risk you should avoid at all cost...the risk of doing nothing. Don’t get caught up in the ‘busy-ness buzz’ of life. 1,2-10years might go by and you’ll still be talking about the same dreams.
If you ask me... that is very RISKY.
What imagery comes to mind as you think about your big dreams and goals for the next year? What metaphors or phrases support those big dreams? What colors or feelings surface for you? Want to spend New Year's Day exploring and clarifying these things?
I made this painting, "Depth of the Iceberg" as my demonstration during the New Year's Day retreat on January 1st, 2018 as a representation of my vision for the year. This piece of art became my visual reminder to be solid and yet, flowing... respect all the work that you do beneath the surface in order to show up in the world. ⠀
If the process of creating a visual piece of art to visually remind you of your big dreams resonates, you are totally invited to join me in my annual New Year's Day Art Retreat!! I would love to share this process with you so you can begin your new year from a powerful, clear, creative place.
We will gather and create, write and share and connect, and launch ourselves into the New Year from a powerful place. I taught this retreat the past two years and it was WONDERFUL! You can look forward to a luxurious experience, with snacks and lunch and all the details handled, so that you can come, immerse, and enjoy. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Sounds delightful, yes? For the retreat, I am offering an early bird rate of $195 if you sign up through Monday December 16th. The rate includes all of your art supplies, lunch, and snacks. Find out more at the link in my profile. And this Early Bird rate will end December 16th so don't delay!💗
First day for everything and today we are proudly introducing Boxing to our timetable here at Sarafina Fitness! 2 classes on offer for you to try out the fun 9:30am and 5:30pm.
Gloves are available for purchase or provided for use within the studio.
This might be something right up your ally!
My go-to pep talk when I feel like everyone is already saying what I want to say? “There are a lot of people saying dumb $hit on the internet, why not me?!” If you’re in business, a creator, or basically a breathing human being, we all feel this way sometimes: “Everybody is already doing/saying/making/selling everything I want to be doing/saying/making/selling!” I feel this way all the time. Like, isn’t every mom on the internet saying exactly what I’m saying? Just in a funnier way and with better photos? Why bother adding my voice to the mix?
Uh, why the hell NOT?!? Also, when I start to feel fear about something, it generally means I’m doing something that excites me. So I start to pay attention and move towards that fear. And do the thing anyway. After all, nothing is truly unique and my perspective or spin on things is equally as valuable as someone else’s.
"To every broken heart in here
Love was once a part, but now it's disappeared
She told me that it's all a part of the choices that your making
Even when you think you're right
You have to give to take." #lostprophets#lasttrainhome#startsomething
It's wellness Wednesday. A day to shift your focus from I need to have the perfect body to I need to be healthy.
A lot of people give up on living a healthy lifestyle because they find it hard or because of a lack of motivation.
In my opinion being healthy should be motivation enough, but I understand some people need that extra push. It is normal.
I stay motivated by reminding myself how my PCOS and Hypoglycemia used to run my life. I don't want to go backwards and feel ill again. So that pushes me to reach my next goal.
So tell me, what keeps you motivated? How do you motivate yourself to keep pushing for that wellness?
🥶🥶 this cold weather has got me thinking about warmer days ahead.
It’s getting closer and closer to the end of 2019. Now is the time to push to try something different l, finish the year strong. While also setting up your successes for 2020. .
Don’t you think 🤔 it’s about time to stop 🛑 saying “I’m going to do this or that”, and start saying “I’m doing this or been doing that.” .

It’s the small justifications, the workarounds, the excuses that feel cozy.
It’s the choosing short term fix that leads to a longer-term cost.
When we continue to choose immediate gratification or to avoid the real challenge, we keep choosing residual suffering.
And when we do that we are choosing safe suffering as our comfort vice.
Think about that.
Right? Ludicrous, really.
What’s the challenging thing you’ve been avoiding?
You know it.
It could be many things. Even sitting down to think about what you want for your life and what you’re truly afraid of.
In fact, that’s a great place to start.
Strap on our hard pants and face your fears.
It’s not that bad. Especially if you enroll some support - someone who can listen, guide, poke enough, and steer you through to take the steps yourself. 🙋♂️
Here we are! The Fall 2019 Strive to Thrive group❤️
These are the people who helped make this semester happen! We worked through highs and lows to achieve such an amazing task of giving out $10,000 to Lincoln nonprofits. It’s been an honor to be a part of something bigger than ourselves. For some of us it was the first and for most of us it won’t be the last!
If we see you and we don’t speak that means we have another chapter to get to. We put together a gift guide of books for your friend that’s thinking of starting a business, link in bio 🤓✨ rg @merkybooks
Failure is an experience we all go through in life, but it carries a lot of stigma. 💔
It entails exposing ourselves to a high level of discomfort for trying things that are not ordinary, for making choices that are unconventional, for being brave and listening to our intuition. 💫
By failing we learn every time to do better, to be better.💗💪 So failure is not as negative as we are usually told: it provides important lessons about ourselves and the direction to take with our ideas.🦸♀️ In order to fail, get up and do better we need to embrace a culture of feedback and at the same time take distance from judgmental voices.🧐 Yes, a real struggle. For this reason Entrepikit is committed to create a space where it's safe to continuously fail, learn and start over again, and again and again.🚀🦄👏
Like Samuel Beckett would say: "Ever tried.
Fail better." Today meet Daniela, our Product Development Lead with international experience in User Research, Service Design and much more. Read about Daniela on our website 👉 www.entrepikit.com
It’s the end of Fall Semester and your thoughts this week set the tone for finals week. See yourself getting stronger, and living a fulfilling, happier & healthier life. And doing well through your finals. ✏️📓📚 #mondaymotivation#startsomething#startupCLU 💡💡💡

كل نهاية هي احلى بداية لرحلة جديدة! #ابدأ و اتفرج على اغنيتنا الجديدة مع رامي عاشور و كريم
If you watched my stories today (if you haven’t you should), I talk about how important it is to just start the thing.
Stop waiting for the perfect time.
Stop waiting for everything to align.
Stop waiting for things to slow down.
Stop waiting until you’re less busy.
Stop waiting until Monday.
JUST STOP WAITING.
Take action. Do the thing. Start now.
You’re not going to be perfect, in whatever it is, and that’s okay. Just start, so that you can figure it out along the way.
I’m so glad that I decided to just go for this business. I didn’t know what I was doing when I first started, and I still don’t know everything. I’m figuring it out along the way, and am loving the journey💕
