Reflective Moment: So instead of a witty caption to go along with the shot I will just speak my mind as I have in the past at times. Whether you agree or not that is up for you to decide. Feel free to share your opinion and that is up to me to decide whether I agree or not. I go through I would say 100s of photos a day, liking and commenting, growing inspiration from, critiquing people's shots. Everyone has their style of work. I try to not keep mine the same and try different things no matter if people like it or not because some people are sadly simple minded and follow trends. "Like omg the empire state building" heart it. I get it for those who dont live in nyc or have the luxury to travel to nyc or may never be able to come here. But there are people who shoot the same thing over and over again and gain followers because its what the masses and tourists mostly love. I can that do once in a blue but I just cant fall into that. In this day now, everyone and anyone is on Instagram shooting pictures. It's very hard to stand out from the crowd nowadays as unique especially with feeds sharing photos of the same people over and over again. Those people dont even have to hashtag or tag them and get featured constantly. I dont mean to sound like a hater because I'm not. I want to just stand out from the masses. I would like to be known for my work or remembered for it after I pass away whenever that may be. I may be on and off with shooting from time to time through the years but I enjoy the craft whole heartedly. I have a tattoo of a Nikon camera on my arm for god's sake. I shoot probably 90% of the time by myself because I simply love it. Producing something I see and can save and present to others to see through my eyes and be able to always look back on and be in that moment all over again. I enjoy looking at old photos from older and experienced photographers from times before I was born and seeing how things used to be and hope I can do the same for others.

It gots ta be
subway car guitars,
City Hall ballers
corralling tourists in
a soulful circus,
bare thru the stale
Union Square air,
claps on the A
breakers balancing hats
daring acts on poles,
crowds peak from their
keyboard cords wink,
a cool drink for
wooed by bass blues,
you never knew,
sunchild playing spoons
on the 1
humming up the Hudson
like the Half Moon,
The City That
Gets It! #newyorkcity#excerpt#music#alive#live#performance#liveperformance#streetperformer#subway#mta#train#guitar#sing#play#poetry#poem#words

I’m playing on the @santamonicapier now until 7pm! Come say hi! The sunset will be beautiful! 🌅 I’ll also be live streaming some of it on YouTube so tune in there at YouTube.com/ClareMeans and make sure to subscribe! 💜💜💜💜💜
Time to cellabrate song with another street performer post! This gentleman can be found in DTLA on 7th. When we first moved here, I walked by and told him 'Thank you'...my daughter looked at me and said: Mommy, why did you just tell him thank you? I replied, 'because I need music to live'. So @klaccik_carpenta ... thank you again for filling me (and so many others) up with joy everytime I walk past you💕
I went back to busk with my @travelerguitar in #downtownsantacruz this morning (see my story to hear my set). I had to stop after only an hour though because the battery in my crate limo started to die 😭 I’m in the market for a new amp-I’m thinking I might just get the Roland Cube. I just really love the TX-50 for it’s digital effects. Crate doesn’t make them any more! .
I took a photo of my setup so you guys can see how I power my pedalboard outside. I use wireless transmitters and a @getchargetech battery. I’ve been building this for the last few months and it’s finally coming together! .
The Bay Area is absolutely amazing for buskers. People like folk and acoustic music here. It’s not over saturated like LA-probably because of the influx of all the tech companies. I made bank today-I hope to come back again on my next run up the coast. .
What boggles my mind is that I actually make more money as a performer out in the street and less in a venue. People ask why I’m outside and I have to explain to them that traditional clubs don’t pay for original music these days and on weekdays many bars don’t have the budget. Unless you are opening for a huge artist who can draw people to a venue the only way you really make money is selling merch or playing for tips. .
I think my favorite part of this west coast tour has been being able to literally set up anywhere I like and meet people. Looking forward to @sofarsoundssf tomorrow! .
Big shout out to @ricardoluiscanez for the cool #stayamazing T-Shirt! .
