We continue to better our little “urban cottage”. Our latest addition: a 10 euro wall sconce that serves as a bedside reading lamp. I love textured glass. Combine it with brass and it looks fabulous. We found it in a sidewalk secondhand shop on Kandlgasse. I researched more and found out it comes from a now defunct Viennese chandelier manufacturer in the 10th district. It may have lit a dark corner of a cafe, or a living room where a gentleman may have read his daily paper. Wherever it came from, it has found a new corner to illuminate. #vienna#vintage#midcenturymodern#sustainability#fleamarketfinds

🎊 Congrats to all 2019 Conservation Award winners! We were honoured to recognize these individuals and organizations who have made an incredible impact on the environment👏
Would you support a cafe doing this?
We applaud them and their effort to change the culture around takeaway coffee and think they should be supported in this.
Tag a cafe or a friend that you would want to send message to. It is very important that businesses know what the consumers want and don't want.

We know that every drop is important in the sea. 💧
This is why we have begun 2020 with the mission to expand our responsibility to the environment.
Our latest milestone towards it was the memorable debut of Costa Smeralda, the first ship in the Costa fleet to be fuelled by liquefied natural gas. Learn more about the latest news on our website ➡️ http://bit.ly/37i1SMc #sustainability#costacrociere
It can take up to 1,000 years for plastic to decompose in landfills. The plastic bags we use daily take 10 years to 1,000 years to decompose, while plastic bottles can take 450 years or more. For this reason, we, as Blok Moda, produce your samples with yarns recycled from plastic products and create environmentally friendly collections. #design#fashion#blokmoda#textile#production#sustainability#digitalization#vr

Education is a human right, a public good and a public responsibility. Without inclusive and equitable quality education and lifelong opportunities for all, countries will not succeed in achieving gender equality and breaking the cycle of poverty that is leaving millions of children, youth and adults behind.
Today, 258 million children and youth still do not attend school; 617 million children and adolescents cannot read and do basic math; less than 40% of girls in sub-Saharan Africa complete lower secondary school and some four million children and youth refugees are out of school. Their right to education is being violated and it is unacceptable. ELEPHAS has committed since its creation to support education in Burkina Faso (continued in comments below). .
Let's make this the norm! Carbon Trust research in 2019 found that two-thirds of consumers support the idea of a recognisable carbon label to demonstrate that products have been made with a commitment to measuring and reducing their carbon footprint.
Quorn is to become the first major brand to introduce carbon labelling on its products. The new labels, aimed at helping consumers understand the environmental impact of their shopping, will start appearing on some products from June and on the entire Quorn range by next year.
All these amazing highlights from the past year could only be achieved with your help!
Donating to Joe & Verity’s fundraising campaign, supporting Nilam’s livelihood centre, cheering on Team South India at the #StreetChildCricketWorldCup , and supporting our award-winning work for the past 20 years. All of this was thanks to you!
Your support is giving children and young people living in poverty the support they need to find a brighter future.
Our Sumbanese community gives life to the @nihisumba experience. It's what makes staying with us unlike any other island resort. You may go out walking along the beach and find yourself rockpooling at low tide with a group of locals or learning to climb a tree for fresh coconuts. Things you will always find in my bathroom: bar body soap, bar face soap, @plaineproducts shampoo and conditioner, and a big glob of hair plastered on the shower wall (sorry to those who share a shower with me!). ( #sponsored :)
2 years ago, I found one of the best sustainable finds for my bathroom: @plaineproducts shampoo and conditioner.
I have tried a few bar shampoos and conditioners, and I didn't fall in love with. I find that with extended use, they tend to leave my hair stringy and/or oily (v jealous if you've found some your hair likes!).
I've used Plaine Products for 2 years and will never stop because the quality is absolutely amazing. Even better, the promote the circular economy because they take back your empty aluminum bottles, clean them, and then refill them and send them out.
I'm wicked ecstatic to say that we've partnered together for this and my blog post where I dive more into my review!
I've got a link and a coupon code for you for 20% off! Peep my instastory today (and I'll save it in my highlights!) Perfect opportunity to try them out if you haven't given them a whirl yet
Have you made the switch yet to any sort of sustainable hair care (bar soap, plaine products, apple cider rinses)??

This Greek island = Heaven on Earth? Paros is working to become the first ever plastic-free utopia, and it's got 3 years to do it! The island is banning plastic straws, giving school kids reusable water bottles, and turning used bedsheets into reusable shopping bags! They're not messing around either. 50 out of 70 businesses on the island have committed to cutting plastic so far, with the remaining ones expected to join in.
Reducing your impact in the kitchen can be one of the hardest ways to reduce your impact but there are so many options out there.
Be sure to go give @essentially_crystal a follow!
When it comes to keeping my waste low int he kitchen I have to be prepared, I won't lie I really don't like cooking. I couldn't think of anything worse than standing in a kitchen on my feet after a day of work, I do however love food.
I almost always want too (and still often do) result to take out because I'm tired and so is Ryan. So preparation is key, I often have frozen meals in the freezer and sometimes prepped veggies and beans in the fridge (but again, the last thing i ever want to do is meal prep for hour son a weekend).
The other week I was looking at the jars in my cupboard i had saved and was thinking what can i do with these, so I've decided to go down the lane of meals in a jar to keep in the cupboard for those lazy nights. So I'll be sharing a bunch of recipes I try/come up with, first up a delicious curry soup.
Coconut Lentil Curry Soup
In a 500g jar
🥥1/2 cup split red lentils
🥥1/2 cup green lentils
🥥 1/3 cup of brown rice
🥥 1/4 teaspoon paprika
🥥 Dash ceyanne (or how much you want)
🥥 1 teaspoon curry powder
🥥 1/4 teaspoon salt
🥥 1/4 stredded coconut
When time to cook add add vegetables of choice, water and coconut milk. Check seasoning and add more if you want it stronger..
Have a play around with the recipe and rations, there's no rules!
What recipe/meal would you like me to try next? Let me know int he comments below!
Work with nature, instead of against it 🌿
We are sharing the beautiful countryside with all sorts of creatures. Since being here we have seen an incredible array of wildlife including but not limited to: owls, badgers, toads, newts, lizards, Salamanders, moles, martens, red squirrels, mice, and a wide range of bugs and insects. We absolutely love all animals and love sharing the countryside with them and flourishing together.
However the last few days we had discovered that mice had come into our home 🐀 As much as we love mice, we do not want to share the indoors of our home with them. This was a chance for us to work together with wildlife, instead of seeing the mice as the enemy. It was a no brainier that we were going to catch them humanely and release them safely.
We put out our humane trap last night loaded with peanut butter, fingers crossed that we'd catch our little friend. This morning we woke up to a greasy, but calm little mouse that was quite content after feasting on peanut butter all night. We drove him down the road and released him happily back into a much more suitable natural environment. Everyone wins ❤️
It feels so good when you work with nature instead of against it! 🙌
