I'm liking where straying off paths brings me to - To explore different options than the usual destinations! And often it will lead to somewhere unexpectedly amazing 💫
📍Kloof Corner, overlooking Lion's head mountain in Cape Town! As I had a sprained ankle from the car accident, we decided to just do a simple hike and this was it! The sunset was just too magical 😍 🌅

A beautiful Cape Dutch cottage at #Vergelegen wine estate. It's one of my favourite vineyards -dating back to 1700, won several awards for their wines as well as their historic gardens (& the oldest oak tree in SA is there), Queen Elizabeth and Princes Philip & Charles visited there so if it's good for the queen it's good for me 😁🇿🇦
This weekend, enjoy another classic #Orchardfavourite here with us. 👌
Delicious and tender braised Karoo Lamb Chops, served with cauliflower and broccoli bake, roast potatoes, rice and natural jus gravy @ R129pp 😋 (offer valid Friday 22 February - Sunday 23 February 2020 or while stocks last).

Is there anything better than the smell of coffee in the morning ☕️? We don't think so! Luckily for us, we can roam around the Mill all day long and enjoy the rich, inviting smell of coffee! ...
One of our favourite spots for coffee appreciation is downstairs at @trumpandtimbal coffee roastery! Part of the Urban Delicious family and headed up by roaster, Richard who began roasting small batches of coffee at home. His fascination turned into passion and ten years later Trump & Timbal was born! ...
Old English for the words 'trumpet' and 'drum', Trump & Timbal's name and inspiration came from the Age of Enlightenment, where coffee played an important role as both elixir and meeting place for the great thinkers of the time. In the present day, Richard will tell you that this means bringing a conscious and pioneering spirit to everything they do!
If you're curious about Trump & Timbal or would like to place an order, visit their virtual home (see link), or, drop-in at @lacuccina_capetown to try Trump & Timbal's delicious La Cuccina Newlands blend. Available exclusively to order from La Cuccina's coffee menu at The Josephine Mill or purchase over the counter, and take your beans home!

The past few weeks have been such a fantastic start to 2020!
🏠 @worldofweekends and I are loving our new place deep in the city.
🎹 for the first time ever we have enough space to bring @worldofweekends piano to our place. There’s nothing quite like coming home to the peaceful sounds of her playing.
🐈 we have two really fun kitties keeping us busy and entertained.
👨👩👧👦 we have some wonderful friends and are enjoying the summer months in Cape Town. It was such a treat to have our brother and sister in law come down for the big tennis 🎾 match here.
🦈 @worldofweekends and I did our 45th dive at Cape Town’s aquarium with ragged tooth sharks. It was wild and exhilarating.
. @worldofweekends and Cape Town 🇿🇦 I’ll miss you dearly while I’m away! 🥰.
Friday is adventure day with our guests 🌴🌊 this morning we took the cable car up to the top of Table Mountain, we love being tourists in our own city. What’s your favourite place to visit in Cape Town?
SOAKING UP THE SUN 🌞
The weather in New Zealand is pretty cold at the moment, so here’s a picture of warmer days in the sunny wine region of South Africa. ☀️😏
And thank you so much for all the lovely wishes for my birthday. 🥰 I haven’t had time yet to reply to everyone but will do so soon! Each one of your sweet birthday messages and comments means the world to me. You’re the best! 💛✨
Definitely one of the best views in Cape Town 💚
. “⛰ When visiting Cape Town be sure to make time for Table Mountain! The views at the top of the mountain are unbelievable especially at sunset 🌅 You can see the City, Signal Hill and Camp’s Bay 😍 They have rotating cable cars that can take you up and down the mountain if you don’t want to hike. We would recommend buying your tickets online and use the website to determine wait times of the cable cars. There are shops and food waiting for you at the top as well 🍺 Enjoy ❗️” 📸: @ourthingistravel .
Hi there IG’ers! We are The Josephine Mill! An historic riverside retreat along the banks of the Liesbeek River and home to an iron waterwheel, a stone flour mill and some of the best artisanal food and beverage creators around! Don’t forget the super-fast WiFi!

A warm welcome🍍⠀
We all recognize the pineapple as the sign of welcome and hospitality, but do we know why that is?⠀
Well, here's the story... In the late 17th century, pineapples were not only expensive, but they were very fragile. During the sea voyage from the Caribbean to the US colonies, most of the precious fruit rotted from the heat and humidity. So, anyone invited to a party where a whole pineapple was served would know that they were honoured guests and that no expense was spared. Thus, the pineapple came to symbolize friendship, welcome and hospitality.⠀
And for you history buffs, legend has it the sea captains of New England sailed among the Caribbean Islands and returned to the colonies bearing their cargo of fruits, spices and rum. As the story goes, the captain would spear a pineapple on a fence post outside his home to let his friends know of his safe return from sea. The pineapple was an invitation for them to visit, share his food and drink, and listen to tales of his voyage.⠀
As the tradition grew, innkeepers added the pineapple to their signs and advertisements, and furniture with hand-carved pineapples was a common sight world-over.⠀
This tradition has continued to this day and it's certainly our way of expressing warmth, welcome and hospitality to all our guests who walk through our doors.
I’ve been around the globe and Gold Restaurant @goldrestaurantcapetown is one of the top places I’ve been to. They offer a unique dining experience which starts with a drum lesson, followed by your 14-course meal in which you sample various dishes from all over Africa! My favorite meal was the peanut chicken from Ghana 🇬🇭 Finally, the night ends with tribal face painting and table-side dancing. One of the best experiences ever!! If your ever visit Cape Town, check them out. 🙌🏽
