Heather & Mitchell || we walked the same path they walked the day they got engaged. It was easy to tell this trail held a special place in their hearts as they beamed while telling me the story of the day Mitchell asked Heather to marry him. Suuuure I have handfuls of locations I can throw your way for your shoot - but if you have somewhere that lights your faces up like this ^^ that’s where I want to go.

Spent the day today being productive with a few of my favorite people. 💗
Just booked an early spring 2020 wedding leaving my availability for next year left to just one Sept sat and a couple Nov Saturday’s! I also will shoot fridays and sundays of course. So excited for all the adventures and gorgeous places in 2020!! www.amandabasteen.com

Catch me double postin, how bout dat. SO much goodness this weekend with two amazing weddings. Austin and Sam got the knot tied this Saturday and I’m speechless. They are two of the sweetest people I’m blessed to call friends now. Their wedding was at @whiteroomweddings surround by almost 200 of their friends and family. Everyone, and I mean everyone, was so kind and had so much love for these two it was insane. Here are a few of my favorites from the day 🥰

Dreamy babes. DO THOSE ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS. Even if it’s a week before your wedding. Do it. It gives you the chance to get comfy and realize how BOMB you look in front of the camera. It documents that stage of your relationship. It gets you comfy with your photographer which is HUGE come wedding day. Plus they’re fun 🤪
Some moments can only be described as beautiful. ♡

gotta love when couples say they’re “the most awkward and don’t know what to do in front of the camera”. So I just tell them to get real close to each other and make out a little. ⠀
Also if you’re just nervously laughing at one another sometimes I’ve been known to just let you just hang out there a little 🤷🏼♀️ makes for good laughing photos!⠀
pictured above; said “we’re awkward” couple just making out in the fall leaves and looking not awkward at all.

When your bride squad is the most gorgeous, down-to-earth, and lovely bunch of gals around.♥️
I had a blast hanging out with these gems while they got dolled up by the talented @jaynamariemakeup and @hairbycolaa ! They all looked hella fantastic, and ready to take on the day. What a phenomenal group!♥️🙌

leading up to Voula + Brian’s wedding Voula sent me some of her favourite wedding inspiration photos during their planning. I noticed that a lot of them were older images and most had a vintage feel. After seeing how classy these two dressed and conducted themselves, plus all their perfect details, I couldn’t help but edit a lot of their gallery with a gorgeous @slate.and.ivory black and white preset. ⠀
V + B you two look good in black and white. Now some final touches on this sweet gallery and it’s heading your way babes! ⠀

Woke up to lots of snow, so here’s the gorgeous pacific coast instead! I do admit it’s pretty though and plan to take pics of my new puppy in it today! (He loves it!) So stay tuned for those! 🥰
Are you too dreaming of a marquee outdoor wedding? Last Friday our blog post was dedicated to the epic day Gina & Per had in Yelden in July. With a lilac inspired rustic wedding, they really nailed the concept with the details they carefully chose for the day. If you are looking for some boho, rustic inspiration for your day, head over to our blog and have a peek at this fantastic day in the English country side ❤️ Link to the album in our linktree 🌿
Huge shout out to all the wedding suppliers involved:
Feeling nearly as happy as Jen on her wedding day to her beautiful bride Alexa. Except I’m not getting married, I am just facing a new week and I am grateful for it. 2020 is just around the corner but for wedding vendors, especially for photographers and venues, we are looking not only at 2020 but at 2021. With that, I received my first inquiry for 2021. Small thing, an email, but it’s just about that call to the future and that while there are so many amazing adventures in 2020 to come for us, beyond that, there is still life. . . .
I’m going to be real for a minute and say that I am someone who NEEDS to look forward Tom something. Usually, that thing is travel. It doesn’t always have to be super far but should be at least out of state or a minimum of 2 to 3 days. I love seeing and exploring new places and since I am a full time photographer, I also want to photograph in these new amazing places. That’s why I also offer travel with my engagement sessions. Maybe you’re not eloping to Italy like the amazing Michael and Mackenzie but that doesn’t mean you can’t have something epic for your engagement! Let’s go to Colorado and shoot in the mountains! Let’s hit the beaches of SoCal and see the most beautiful sunset the US has to offer! Let’s hike to a rainy Tennessee mountaintop and capture your epic proposal. Whatever it is, let’s plan it and do it. This is YOUR love story. Make sure it’s written how you want!
. . .
With all this talk of the future, I can say that I am looking forward to all the fun to come for next year but who knows what 2021 is going to shape up to be. I’m hoping to capture a wedding in Iceland, travel to Scotland, and visit Hawaii again and Italy too. I’d also love to see Greece and shoot the beautiful homes in Santorini with their perfectly blue and white congruity. Who knows what 2021 will bring, but I can say that I’m finally getting excited about it too.
. . .
What are you excited about for next year? What are you working on now to make next year and those that follow your best ones yet! Let’s hear it and tell me all about it! 😘
HUGE congrats to Lora + Brandon!! Had an amazing time celebrating you guys yesterday! 🎉💜

One of these two was having a great time, one was slightly scared. Guess which one was which. 😉
These shots are the ones couples will always laugh at, their kids will laugh at, and their kids’ kids will laugh at. I love encouraging couples to not take themselves too seriously on their wedding day so they can truly enjoy it for what it is: a celebration. 🎉

Soooo I think mid November twilight outside ceremonies might be my new fav thing. Holy gorgeous!! Shoutout to @twelve_one_projects Donovan for popping up his video light for that bit of extra magic. 🙌🏼🙌🏼
Can’t wait to show more from yesterday’s fab wedding at @barnesplaceia ! .
Now I’m off to Christmas tree farm minis all day! If anyone wants to bring me hot coffee I won’t complain!! Brrr quite the temp change from yesterday! .
Spending time with your favorite people in my book, is so important. Tonight we spent time with our bestie Sean and Chelsea. We have had so many lovely times together and while they are about to embark on their newest adventure, having a baby, we still get to spend time with them while they prep and prepare along with Sean spending hours each day studying for his BCBA.
. . .
In a few weeks we head off to Missouri with our mommas to visit my favorite place in the worlds, Hermann, Missouri, home to one hundred different wineries and some of the best wine you’ll ever taste. Of course Hermann wasn’t just made special by my parents who took me out there often as a child and young adult, but also by Sean and Chelsea a few years back. We spent a lovely week exploring the wineries and the eateries and all the lovely places you’d never think to know of when in Missouri. Who would have known that Missouri’s wine country was the original inspiration for the Napa Valley or that their state grape, the Norton, is one of the tastiest wines around, especially from the Hermann valley?
. . .
Tomorrow I have my Christmas minis. Well, more like my Christmas mini. See, they didn’t do so well, no biggie, so I’m just going out to photograph the amazing family that allowed me to photograph on their property. Otherwise, I’m off. And I’m so happy to enjoy a few days of peace. It’s been such a relief to take a break, clean the house, enjoy some TV, and just be unplugged. So here’s a gorgeous image from a wedding last week with @martalewisphotography with Kayla and Chris. While not my clients, they were lovely and will be enjoying an amazing Mediterranean honeymoon next year. Thanks you two for being so fun and so gorgeous. 😘
Instagram vs reality. Swipe to see the difference. :)

Yesterday, I met with @loadedtransportation and finally visited @newjourneyfarms. Woweeee! It is such a perfect venue with the right amount of class, elegance, space (they can host nearly 400 people!) and wonderful ownership. I can’t wait to shoot there and to see what fun we can get into it!

A Saturday not shooting a wedding always turns into a whole day shooting something else 😂 but hey, our first Thanksgiving dinner is tonight sooooooo 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️
This day is finally here 😍 Austin and Samantha’s wedding day!! Today we’ll be over at @whiteroomweddings and I cannot wait to see these two!

Happy wedding day to Brooke and Ryan! Luckily today is going to be much warmer than their engagement session!! We actually shot these a year ago today! Can’t wait to spend the day ( and last wedding if the season till December!) with you at the fab @barnesplaceia!
instagram vs reality 🤣🤣🤣 but hey guys it’s me 🙋🏽♀️ had a lil headshot sesh in front of this cute lil backdrop with my girl @lynnkphoto at the styled shoot the other day! dont ask me why im dabbing, but happy kelsey got this hilarious shot of me in my natural state of weird obnoxious & dorky🤣
Those fall colors in #Yosemite were pretty amazing! I’m slowly starting to accept that winter is coming and so I’m getting excited for Christmas! So excited for my Christmas tree farm minis this Sunday! (2 spots left if you still want to snag one!! 💕
It’s finally FRIDAYYYY!! This has simultaneously been the slowest and fastest week ever. The shorter days and long, cold nights have me missing the sunshine of summer. Who else is missing the sun right now?

This sky seems appropriate for today's sky over Florence.
Dats me. Your photographer. Engaged just like you. Going through this crazy wedding journey just like you! What’s that mean? It means I know how to photograph your wedding even better now because I go into your wedding treating it like MY OWN. Yes of course, I always prioritize your priorities, but I’m also paying attention to your parents, your cousins, your dear friends, your grandparents, and those simple moments between you and your fiancé. Because those are the photos you’ll look back on when you’re grown. Whether you’ve moved to a new town and no longer get to see those friends as much, or loved ones pass, those are the memories that matter most. Those are the memories I’m going to capture. The joy, the happy tears, the hugs, and all the love. THATS what I’ll be capturing for you ❤️ I knew these things before starting along my own little love journey, but they resonate so much more with me now. Years of learning how to capture things in a beautifully crafted way partnered with this new mindset is simply rad. I can’t wait to serve you ❤️

» when I was 19 years old I married my forever person 🖤 a lot of people thought we were too young, that we wouldn’t last, etc. and now here we are 6 years later. we’ve been to 12 countries together, parents to the world’s coolest toddler, bought our first home, and so much more. it’s truly a dream life we’re livin -
but what if we had listened to those people and given up? how many times has someone told you your dreams were too big? unrealistic? impractical? “that’s nice, but what’s your backup plan?” as they immediately expect you to fail. -
My usual response it just to laugh as no matter what I say, they’ll never be in my shoes. they’ll never be able to physically feel the passion in my soul that keeps me motivated to go far beyond what I can even imagine. afterall, what position are they in to put a limit on my potential? -
has it been hard? duh. have i failed? of course, but I’ve never given up and never will as long as I’m reaching for my goals. not my usual post, but just your daily reminder to keep pushing for your dreams friends 🙌🏽 -
