Even in this trial, I feel an immense wave of GRATITUDE for. . .
• Access to modern medicine & technology and a very competent fertility dr (reproductive endocrinologist) • Anesthesia for my surgery 👏🏽
.• Medication to manage the post-op pain/cramps
• Great health insurance through my employer (fertility treatment bills are still racking up but I can’t imagine not having the insurance that we do) • Living in close proximity to the hospital, literally a one minute drive from my house • Heating pads to get me through the night • Priesthood blessings for comfort (special blessing/prayer that LDS peeps do) • Awesome friends who stopped by with dinner (@_soliak) and Crumbl cookies + flowers (@n_kava) when I got home 😭
• My husband aka my biggest support and the best around-the-clock nurse ❤️
This goes right up on the top of the list of dumb things people say to those who struggle with infertility.
Like you're absolutely right, Karen, it is SUPER fun to have to schedule sex, take meds that make you feel like a psycho, and inject yourself with a million needles.
SUPER fun. 🙄

Hey again... so I haven't really been on here since April. I started to feel disheartened and insta wasn't helping. Anyway it's now September and guess what - still no BFP. I've had a few more rounds of ovulation induction & timed intercourse which were unsuccessful and we have our IVF consultation at the start of October.
It’s so painfully and beautifully true when we refer to events in our life as seasons. There are seasons of spring that brings moments of new life or a fresh start. Summer that brings moments of things that are heated or uncomfortable. Fall that brings moments of letting go and loss. And Winter that brings moments of feeling frozen or on hold.
Today I feel like a Wisconsin day in September. 🌷The morning feels like spring, I’m excited and encouraged to start another day. I’m building new relationships in my preschool class and learning their sweet little quirks. I get to teach them about Jesus and watch the curiosity and joy dance across their faces. It’s beautiful and innocent. 🌞Then the afternoon feels like summer, where the days gets uncomfortable when dealing with frustrations and trying to check things off my never ending to do list. It’s overwhelming and discouraging. 🍂The nights feel like fall, when the day comes to an end and the warmth of the sun is gone. When we feel the weight of all the death our life has been consumed with. Losing multiple loved ones in such a short amount of time, plans going undone, and expectations that were never met. It’s heavy and all together too much to handle. ❄All the while my heart is always in some state of winter, feeling frozen in this constant season of waiting and wanting. Feeling like our lives have yet to begin because our longing and prayers for a sweet baby still hasn’t come. It’s heart wrenching and lonely.
Today I’m reminding myself, it’s okay to feel all the seasons in one day. There is good and bad in every season and it’s okay to recognize both.

Back to basically where I started before vacation!!!!!! Now to keep going and get to my lowest again. Which my lowest I’ve seen is one pound less. Maybe getting my hair cut today put me back down 😂😂😂
I can still hit the 100s by Halloween....🚂 just keep chugging!!!! •
Nobody so much as looked up or around after I paid on this 506 streetcar and had nowhere to sit.
Fortunately, I spotted this regular seat. Sitting here does mean I could have to let my seat neighbour out, though. Stumbling with my stuff and my cane from this seat to do so while people push around me would be frightening.
That must be why the priority seats on transit are not blocked in by other seats and why they face into the vehicle like they do. #hemilife#ttc#ableism

Santosha = Contentment
- “Our culture suffers from two primary sins: amnesia and anesthesia. We forget and we go numb. And consequently the bright, more scintillating world goes unnoticed. And when that world goes dull we lean into secondary satisfaction: entertainment, shopping, addiction of all sorts; but even more pernicious, we begin to lean on power, wealth, status, rank, privilege. Our culture becomes by extension a carrier of secondary satisfaction around empire. We always want more. There is no such thing as satisfaction in this culture. We are designed to be unsatisfied chronically, so that we are always hungry for the next thing that comes. And that to me is one of the deepest source of grief, so we are never feed true nutrition. There are things that the soul absolutely requires to feel alive, to feel engaged in our life; necessary touch, laughter, condolences and kindness in times of sorrow, shared meals, starlight nights where we sit together and tell stories, rituals that mend and tend the whole of our relationships to each other and to the green world. Those are the things what we absolutely require. Otherwise we are scrambled and trying to fill the hole with whatever we can we never achieve the end. If you ask any addict; the more you use the substance, the more you want it. It’s as if secondary satisfaction tend to exaggerate their own symptoms over time. We want more and more and we want more and we finally die as a consequence of addiction.” Francis Weller (Psychotherapist)
Where in your life have you made time for any given attention primary satisfaction? Satisfaction true contentment is simple. I love the piercing depth and simplicity of Francis Weller’s breakdown of satisfaction. It doesn’t take much, it’s just a little care..
Think about it.. ♥️

That first appointment with the therapist was something that I didn’t think we needed, we went in there thinking it’s just a formality and a part of the process.
It was to be an hour appointment and I left there with feelings I had suppressed and tears flowing, wondering if we had what it took to go through this journey.
Looking back I wonder if I would have survived this whole journey without the help of a therapist.
I find that there are so many topics that people don’t want to talk about openly because they are afraid of judgments by society and I can say I was one of them until recently. I never wanted anyone to know what we were dealing with when going through infertility and more so that I had to go to therapy because I just couldn’t handle the weight of this circumstance.
I was eventually diagnosed with situational depression by my therapist who wanted to prescribe meds...I want to say this first, I’m not in any way opposed to medication for mental health but also felt like she was giving up on me and helping me through by this quick diagnosis and so called remedy. My opposition was due to the fact that I was pumping my body with so many meds for multiple IVF cycles that I wanted to avoid the rest if I could try and treat it differently.
As a result I changed therapists and found a doctor that became one of my biggest advocates, believed for me when I didn’t and to this day a big part of my life. I still to this day continue to see him for my peace of mind so that I can handle life’s ups and downs because we surely know that never ends.
It’s all in finding the right person to talk to you that you feel is a match, just like anything else in life, what or who may work for one person may not work for another and that’s completely OK! After all, we are all made differently right?
What are your thoughts on therapy? Do you see a therapist as just a part of your personal growth, mental health and well being? Do you go when you need to? Or do you not believe in it?

I can’t stress enough that what we put on our bodies matters. I struggled with infertility issues. I just wish I had been aware of this information. Would it have changed anything? 🤷♀️ But this is why i share information and partner with @beautycounter and the #cleanbeautymovement . We all deserve transparency! Posted @withrepost • @drlorashahine PCOS has been linked to toxins exposure.
Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) is a common multifactorial endocrine disorder associated with irregular menstrual cycles, high androgen (male hormone) levels, infertility, insulin resistance, and more. Evidence in both animal and human studies show an association between exposure to endocrine disruptors like BPA and phthalates and PCOS. Studies in animal models show that offspring exposed to toxins during pregnancy have higher incidence of PCOS later in life since endocrine disruptors can contribute to altered fetal programming resulting in much higher than expected PCOS signs and symptoms in puberty and adulthood. Studies in humans show higher levels of BPA and phthalates in women with PCOS compared to women without the diagnosis. Even more studies show endocrine disruptors can interfere with insulin sensitivity and increase risk of obesity which can exacerbate PCOS symptoms and hormonal dysfunction in women.
There is an excellent review of the evidence in Fertility and Sterility from 2016..

Did you know that the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynaecologist (ACOG) state that 14-23% of women will struggle with symptoms of depression during pregnancy?
And unfortunately this is something that is not being properly diagnosed due to the misconception or little knowledge about suffering from depression during pregnancy, as most pregnant women assume that the symptoms are pregnancy/hormonal related and don’t pay attention to it.
Professional recommended to practice daily journaling and be completely honest with all your symptoms and emotion, as this is crucial in order to have a real diagnose and to be happily treated.
If symptoms persist for more than 2 weeks talk to your Doctor about it
Few Symptoms :
• Lack of concentration
• Anxiety • Lost interest in your favourite activities • Negative thoughts/hopeless • A change in your sleeping pattern
Documenting your pregnancy is not just about saving your pregnancy journey, but to keep an eye on your mind and body changes and enjoy a healthy pregnancy.

If something doesn’t seem right it is WELL WORTH the time and hassle to call your insurance and the provider to make sure you aren’t being over charged.
In this case I received a bill for some of the fertility testing we had started, even though we had been assured the testing would be covered by insurance. 😐 $495 was a shock but I was sure they had told us it would be covered.
For a brief moment I almost paid it, but then I remembered @savemycents talking about all the medical bills she has had to challenge so I gave it a try - and sure enough, someone had coded the original service incorrectly. They assured me they will fix this issue and I will get a statement reflecting that I owe $0. 🙌🏻🎉
Talk about return on time invested!!
Pay attention to your medical procedures and the bills you receive, it’s very possible that catching a mistake could save you hundreds!

Now let’s go make a baby!
I worked so hard to get to this moment. Pushed my body physically & pushed myself emotionally where I didn’t think I could go. Somehow each time I went there.
As I was going to sleep for them to harvest my eggs I stared crying (shocker) my nurse came over put her hand on me & said “hey it’s ok I’m right here & we’re going to get you your baby”
Then I woke up, crying. So SO relieved that we had done it & I was done. Not all the way done but done with this really hard part that I’d already tried twice.
Before we left they let us know they were able to harvest 19 eggs!!!
24 hours later I got a phone call that 17 of them were good quality & NINE had fertilized!! Those 9 would be undisturbed for 6 days.
A week later we got a phone call with our final count.
We are really excited to share that we have THREE embryos!!!
Hey @chelseaserr let’s go back to Palm Springs for this two week wait 🥰😉 Our most recent IUI was yesterday and we are in great spirits! Back to the waiting game, but we have the busiest week ahead. Luna started speech therapy this week, my dad and I are working on building a wine bar for Chelsea whose birthday is on Friday, and my best friend will be having her sweet baby girl on Friday as well! We have a lot of exciting distractions over the next several days so I’m hoping that will help the time fly by. This was our fourth ever IUI and we are officially out of sperm. Our doctor did advise us that if this round is not successful, our next steps would be to do some testing to ensure my tubes weren’t damaged after my c-section with Luna - but we aren’t gonna think that way because girl, we don’t need that kind of negativity! Crossing my fingers there’s a little babe brewing in here. Hope everyone has a great week!! 💖

"It’s a no go, guys. I’m not pregnant. I just got off the phone with the fertility clinic. Our first IUI failed. . . I somewhat expected it after the 3 negative pregnancy tests, but I was still holding out hope. Hoping that there was a small chance I was actually pregnant and the pregnancy test just didn’t pick up on it. But the blood test doesn’t lie. . . This is the part of infertility I wish people could see. The part where you cry in your car over your lunch break. The part where you were so optimistic 2 weeks ago, but so devastated today. The part where you have to tell your husband you’re not pregnant... again. The part where you have no choice but to wipe your tears and head back into work because you’re still expected to participate in life. Infertility f***ing sucks." We hear you and want you to know it's okay to not be okay.
