The very last Virgin trains service at its very final destination: Wolverhampton!
Have never felt so lucky to live in Wolverhampton when I saw on #BBCNews that it would be the very last destination for Virgin trains services! I came out at 23:30 to catch the final service, and got loads of pics!
Been a lot of head scratching this last week! With a lot of help form a few members from the @mrycgofficial ive now managed to get points working along with my dcc controller ‘even if i did blow up a sound chip 🤮’ but as of lastnight I’ve ran out of cork!!
Goodbye Virgin Trains. 390107 forms 9M62 - 18:52 Edinburgh Waverley to Birmingham New Street and 390153 after arriving with 9S80 - 14:43 London Euston to Edinburgh Waverley. The final VT service to Edinburgh and from Edinburgh. I was very luck to be able to cab both units too. (07/12/19)
🎨back in Railfreight sub-sector era, this has been done with acrylic paint after an initial sketch on a mini canvas board. This is a 1st example of a series of graphic edge small scale paintings I've been working on, in this piece I tried to recreate a past memory I had of a quite harsh misty winter night to spot a lineside view of 37's ticking over 'idling' in the sidings in the late1980's early 1990's, under the many atmospheric floodlights of the UK's main industrial once thriving 'cities of Steel' at Sheffields vast 'Tinsley' railfreight marshalling yard. With the night shift freight driver crew clambering into the cab (of a Split head coded)Railfreight distribution Class37 amongst the many Cargowaggons etc.I hope you like it?
At midnight today, Virgin Trains will cease after 22 years. Avanti West Coast will take over from tomorrow and will go on to operate High Speed 2.
#221101 is seen here pulling into Milton Keynes Central working a service from London Euston. This was the only Voyager to be painted into Flowing Silk livery, with the livery applied fully with the silk at every carriage ending, and I must say it looked excellent! However it now wears a plain white livery.

Bye bye @virgintrains. I never really knew you but apparently you were good!
Well the time has come to say goodbye to the most iconic trademark of the west coast main line. Virgin trains has served me ever since I was 3 and uve travelled with them every tie I went to London or so where always travelled with virgin trains. Sadly there time in the UK has come to an end and a new company (avanti West Coast) is taking over the West Coast and has very big shoes to fill however virgin trains will always have a massive part in my life and I'll always remember them
Virgin Trains final departure from Holyhead... #221118 and #221113 seen arriving into Bangor and then at the final stop of Holyhead as the set prepare to work the final set from Holyhead to London Euston! A farewell post will follow this post in a few minutes! Farewell Virgin Trains 1997-2019!
