Day 21- @businessofflowers#flowerfarmerama challenge .
Spring flowers.... we are not massive on growing too many spring flowers, our season really starts early summer when the hardy annuals and perennials kick in. But we have 5 beds of roughly 20m each of perennial tulips, narcissus and double daffs. I have enclosed a few of my favourite pics of the last 2 seasons.
I just love the narcissus, especially 'bridal cown'... the smell is incredible and they last for ages. #spring#tulips#narcissus

This week I am working on the final touches to our new website! I am so excited to share it with you all. Flower & Fern is now 2 years old (where did the time go) and my gut was telling me that the website needed an overhaul to be more in line with how Flower & Fern has evolved, and our ducks in a row for an exciting future. Our ethos and style is still the same, but as time goes on I think we get better and better at honing it and communicating it. It’s been a real labour of love over the past 6 months, so I’m really looking forward to finding out what you all think! 💛
Frozen, and then the sun rose and made everything glittery then it set and made the ice look golden.

The moth girl 🖤 Today had its ups and downs, I went to a trial shift at a new place, then someone sneaked in the staff room and stole my phone and I started chasing him and shouting "stop this man" through the mall and then out in the street, luckily people helped me and now I got my phone lol 😅 such a crazy day and experience in general. I'm happy so many people were willing to help me. The man ran and the police is still looking for him. He still has my home keys but that's fine since he doesn't know where I live. I'm definitely gonna be more careful in the future 😕
Sometimes brides want something specific, it’s almost always peonies. This was a late September wedding, peonies are not in season then. Guess what? I scoured every resource I could find and got over a hundred for her. I do it because I love my brides and I love peonies. ✨

TIDY// it has to be said that tidyness does not come naturally to me. And that extends to all things horticultural. Somewhat reminiscent of the lady on the Monty Don American Gardens series who left piles of organic matter to naturally decompose. Today's bonfire didn't quite work out, more of a quick burn and die out affair. As I left I noticed Eric's bonfire, and asked for his top tips "firelighters and parafin". #underthefloralspell
We’re just about to start what I like to call the “Great Dahlia Divide.”⠀
Last year, we grew 800 plants. While that’s pretty small beans in the growing world, it’s a huge amount for us. ⠀
Dahlias definitely get a bad wrap as being hard to grow, but here’s the thing I’ve learned: they just take a little extra labor. ⠀
Their not really picky or tricky. They just take some extra effort. And in the winter/early spring that work comes in the form of dividing every single one of those dahlia tuber clumps. ⠀
But when you get a summer filled with stunning blooms and more tubers than what you started with, well, it’s worth every bit of it!! ⠀
And the best part is that every year, growing dahlias gets easier! ⠀
If you’ve never grown dahlias, I hope you’ll try them this year!! I’m here to help! ⠀
I’ll be teaching two classes on growing and dividing dahlias next month at @cohostspace_ in Stanwood. ⠀
I needed to make a change on the dates for the classes (more on that in stories) so the classes will now be February 7 and February 8.⠀
Come join me and make 2020 the year for growing stunning dahlias like these “Cafe Au Lait.” ⠀
And for those who’ve asked: YES! We will be selling and dahlia tubers again this spring! More info to come soon! ⠀
Link in profile to tickets to the classes or to sign up for our newsletter and stay in the loop on the upcoming tuber sale!⠀

Hello everyone! I thought I'd give you an insight into what a typical day in my little studio playing with flowers looks like. As you can see, I'm not a tidy florist! I'll always make more work for myself by making a mess around me, but this is only because I'm so immersed in the flowers - they've got my full attention! I was so in love with this bouquet, I just wanted to sit and stare at it all day. 💛
Logan and Val may have had a rainy wedding day, but it didn’t seem to dampen their spirits one bit. @shelbyphotographer worked her magic and they have a beautiful set of photos to document their day despite the raindrops. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
