In the legal world, we refer to some people, who suffer more injury than one might reasonably expect, as "eggshell plaintiffs." Annie Cassidy is an eggshell protagonist. 🥚
This book takes your typical enemies to lovers romance and makes it really, really lame. Annie is obsessed with romcoms and is excited when she gets hired as a film director's assistant. Too bad the sexy leading man, Drew Danforth, is such a jerk. Except he's not. He's perfectly nice to her and she jumps to the worst conclusions every time. Not to mention all her angst over whether this man can do her beloved romcom genre justice 🙄
I'm fairly new to the contemporary romance genre, but this was my least favorite so far. I'm not sure why I stuck with it, but, like Annie, I hold out hope for a happy ending. At least the book obliged on that front. Plenty of other reviewers seem satisfied with this one so take my ⭐⭐💫 with a grain of salt.
P.S. When you do half stars, do you round up or down on Goodreads? 🤔 . #bookstagram#romcomfebruary#februaryreads#valentinesdaybooks#contemporaryromance#donotrecommend#stopwaitingfortomhanks
Valentine’s Day Book Haul!!! Ya’ll, for Valentine’s Day my husband surprised me with a road trip specifically to buy books! Our first stop was at the Book Outlet. Then we crossed the border into Niagara, NY to go to Barnes & Noble! He let me get all the special editions I wanted that I can’t get in Canada. Best. Husband. Ever. ❤️📚
‘I did things to her that she did not feel she could ask me to do, and I taught her that the slightest constraint spoils the greatest pleasures.’ – The Nun of Murano •
In the (slightly belated) spirit of Valentine’s day, it’s only fair we look at the work of the most famous lover of all time – Giacomo Casanova. His memoir, Histoire de ma Vie, is quite an enormous tomme. Luckily one of the juiciest sections has been published individually by Penguin Little Black Classics: The Nun of Murano. Unsurprisingly this is the account of Casanova’s seduction of a beautiful nun known only by the initials M.M. And my oh my does it get steamy… •
Bookworm rating: ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️/5

This book resonates with our everyday lives. A child seeking attention from a parent and parent is busy with some work and they ignore their wants. Further To seek the attention of the parent, they tend to things themselves and they end up messing things.
This story is almost similar and little monkey was seeking attention from big monkey. Big monkey was saying she doesn't have time to play with him and was asking him to play alone. At one point little monkey started to cry and was sad that his mother is scolding him and doesn't want to spend time. Will the big monkey realize her mistake and makes understand little monkey that no matter how he's naughty, she loves him?
What we enjoyed in this book was,.
🐒 Bright pictures and colorful illustrations.
🐒You can say the story by seeing the pictures and definitely it's an easy read aloud book.
🐒Love how the author made the big monkey to say and it's not ok that I shouted at you.
🐒This line made me guilty, Sometimes when Nathan needs me I will be in middle of something and I do shout at him when he doesn't listen to me Inspite of repeated saying.
🐒But no matter of his naughtiness, still l love him to the moon and back.
🐒In this season of love, let's show our love to our kids even during our busy time.
🐒I know it's difficult, yet I'm going to try.
🐒No matter big or small, they will always be our little monkey.
🐒Good read for 3+ kids.
Using up this ancient rocket science bath bomb I forgot I had this evening 🚀 I'm 200 pages away from finishing To All the Boys I've Loved before so I don't think I'll get it all read by the end of #contemporaryathon But I've really enjoyed trying to read as much as possible this week. It's been a bit of a manic, all over the place kind of week where my nerves have felt all jangled, so it's been truly lovely to escape into Conditional Love, My Sister the Serial Killer, and now the sweetest story that is To All The Boys I've Loved Before. Nearly three books read, and I'm happy with that. #toalltheboysivelovedbefore#jennyhan#readathon#valentinesdaybooks#valetinesthemedreading

'Being in love is nice, but getting engaged is not
romantic. What happens if she accepts to marry you? You’ll have to marry her. The best part of romance is not knowing.' This is what the main character thinks of love and marriage. What about you? Do you believe in love and in what way?

I had hoped to post this book for Valentine’s Day yesterday; but it is never too late to talk about love, friendship and wonderfully sweet books. And that is exactly what this book is: a charming story about three best friends, a lost letter, a big mix-up, and a realization about friendship and the impact of words. Settle in with The Love Letter by Anika Aldamuy Denise, illustrated by Lucy Ruth Cummins. Full review at link in profile.

qotd? 📚 - would you classify The Hunger Games series as a romantic novel?
I meant to post this yesterday, but... oops. 🤷🏻♀️ Life.
In honor of yesterday's Love Day, I wanted to highlight some of my favorite love stories. That doesn't mean they're all romances. Love doesn't always have to be about romantic love with a partner. It can be friendship, familial love, love and bonding with a pet, loss of a loved one, or even loving yourself. Sometimes that's the most important one.
Which kind of love did you celebrate yesterday?
Whether you celebrated or not, I hope you had a fantastic Friday yesterday and that your weekend is even better! 🤟🏼🤟🏼

“I’m really happy when I’m with you. I get the feeling you feel the same way. And if that’s true, I don’t think you should give a fuck about what people may or may not think of our age difference. Furthermore, if our ages were reversed, no one would bat an eyelash. Am I right? So now it’s just some sexist, patriarchal crap, and you don’t strike me as the kind of woman who’s going to let that dictate her happiness. All right? Next issue…”
Happy (belated) Valentine’s Day! I meant to post this yesterday, but work got crazy and then I was running off to dinner. Still it’s the perfect weekend for reading romantic books and eating heart cookies, right?
I know people are really obsessed with this book, and it just wasn't super for me. The romance stuff is sexy, and I thought it was engagingly written, but the pathos and the tragedy of it were just a little high for me. Which is not to say I don't think it's an accurate representation of what would happen if Harry Styles started dating a divorcee, I just knew that pathos is where we were heading.
I can't explain it, I just didn't super connect with it. I seem to be in the minority though, so this might work better for you! And would definitely be worth a shot on a weekend like this!
❤️Happy Valentine’s Day!❤️
I meant to post this earlier this morning but TBH it’s been a hellish work week so the fact that I made it to the other side is kind of a feat all unto itself!!
But I LOVE Valentine’s Day because it’s such a wonderful incentive to sprinkle a little extra love on my family - treats for my husband and girls and, why not, some extra reading time for me! And you better believe that after this week, I’m definitely putting my feet up with a good read and a HUGE glass of wine!
I’m sharing a few romance books on my immediate TBR for #stackawayforvalentinesday with @beauty_andthebook_ and @biblioreviews!
💗YOU DESERVE EACH OTHER by @sarah_hogle (out this April!)
💗THEY’RE STRICTLY FRIENDS by the so lovely and kind @chloe_liese
💗THE UNHONEYMOONERS by @christinalauren (I’ve been meaning to get to this one for months!)
💗RED, WHITE & ROYAL BLUE by Casey McQuiston - another book that has been sitting on my unread shelf for far too long!
Are you reading any romances right now?
Hopefully your day was as loved as these shelves have been. 💞It's been so fun finding and collecting different books with each changing season or holiday. Our new favorite find came from the library, right in the center, "Love You Always". It's an adorable story about a little hedgehog who compares himself to other animals, asking if his mom would love him more if he could...(Spoiler Alert: She loves him just the way he is.) What's been your new favorite holiday find this love day? What else should we add go our shelf? 📚
“...I love your name. I don't want to cheat myself out of a single syllable.” Definitely recommend Eleanor & Park this Valentine’s Day if you’re looking for a heart warming yet painful ya romance novel. @rainbowrowell -
Heathcliff and Catherine’s romance makes for a dark and twisty Valentine’s Day read. 🖤 Dad gifted Mom this cool vintage copy of Wuthering Heights today because it’s one of her favorite classics! #eggoreads

𝗦𝘆𝗻𝗼𝗽𝘀𝗶𝘀 • Getting dumped four times over the course of the past ten years on Valentine’s Day was definitely not in Hazel Benny’s life plan. So when her boyfriend of three months dumps her a week before Valentine’s Day to save her the humiliation of a fifth VD dumping, Hazel decides to take a break from life altogether by borrowing her brother’s camper van and taking off to the highlands.
Life in the camper van is going great—fresh air, beautiful scenery, a deeper bond with her homeland, no work, and best of all no men!
Until Valentine’s Day.
Getting caught in the woods with her pants down is the last thing Hazel expected to happen to her on the dreaded romantic day. Worse still getting caught by attractive American, Liam Brody, an annoyingly sexy man the universe seems intent on throwing her way for the day.
By the time this year’s Valentine’s Day is over, Hazel will have only one question on her mind:
How could one day, one tiny little day, change her life so epically…
It’s Valentine’s Day so I thought a row of cute contemporaries would be perfect for today 😋
I celebrated mine by getting my nails done and watching PS: I Still Love You with the gals from the Smut & Smoochies bookclub and it was super fun!! 😍
— @booksofmyshka@annesbookishtravels and @noellareads we should definitely repeat it some time 💖
I hope everyone enjoys today with someone they love 💕 —
❓what’s your favourite ya contemporary couple?
Thought I’d post some romantic sounding titles in honour of Valentine’s Day. Just realising as I type this though that Flowers in the Attic features incest- oops! Hope you’re having a great Friday whether you celebrate or not ♥️

Happy Friday! And Happy Valentine’s Day!
While I don’t have any particularly strong feelings about Valentine’s Day, but I DO love romances, so I thought I’d highlight some of my favorites. I know my heart is kinda crooked but just go with it. 😂
I definitely have more favorites - I tried to just grab the first in the series when I could and I just grabbed my most recent Christina Lauren reads. So if you’re looking for any romances, I recommend these books, these series, and generally these authors.
❤️Happy Valentine's Day❤️ This book is not a valentine. It doesn't have lacey edges or sugary hearts. But it is full of lucky rocks, secret hiding spots, and gumball machine treasures. This is a book about waiting in line and wishing for cinnamon buns. About recognizing that if you care so much about someone not thinking you care, maybe you really do. But wait—isn't that exactly what love is about? Maybe this book by Carter Higgins and illustrated by Lucy Ruth Cummins is sort of a valentine after all. #valentines#valetinesday#valentinesdaybooks#repost@chroniclebooks

"Σκλαβιά θλιβερή με περιμένει και είμαι δεμένος με αλυσίδες.
Ο Έρωτας ποτέ δε χαλαρώνει τα δεσμά του για με τον δυστυχή.
Αθώος είμαι ή ένοχος, αυτός πάντα με καίει...."
-Τιβουλλος (for english scroll down)
❤❤ Διαβάζετε ποίηση; Θα σας ενδιέφερε ένα βιβλίο σαν αυτο; -------------------------------- This book is a collection of erotic poetry by Latin authors such as Ovidius and Katullus. Unfortunately I have not found any similar edition in English but if you do find one I highly recommend checking it out. These poets use mythology (both ancient greek and Roman), domestic themes and historical events to explore the theme of love. I adored every single piece in this and I have already read this collection twice.
Do you read poetry? Would you be interested in one like this? -- .
Ok, something you'll learn about me over time (if you haven’t already…) is that while I LOVE a good themed bookshelf, I REALLY love when the books I choose for said bookshelf can serve multiple purposes throughout the year. So, when it comes to choosing holiday books, I get pretty excited when I find books that work for a given holiday, but can also be read anytime during any other month. So, when it comes to Valentine's Day, our shelf has a few Valentine's Day books, but we read mostly love and kindness stories with wonderful year-round lessons.
Pictured above are just a few of the books that will be on our front-facing bookshelf for the next few weeks. Click on the link in my profile for more details about each book, including the author and illustrator (in case you can’t see names well in the photo…), why we love each one, and Amazon affiliate links for them all.
You can also visit my website (link in bio) to see which of these books I bought (yes, bought, instead of getting it from the library) when a dear friend insisted it make my list, which book I read to my classes every single February as a teacher, and which book everyone else is raving about but I almost didn’t put it on my list until my 5.5-year-old understood it on a much deeper level than I!
What books do you love to read with your littlest loved ones this time of year?
Know what holiday is right around the corner?! Yup, Valentine’s Day! ❤️ And this newcomer, about a Robot bewitched by an alluring and shiny stranger, has the perfect dose of humor for your holiday sweethearts. #bookbloomvalentines

We are all sick in this house so it’s extra cuddles and all the books and let’s be honest, probably a good amount of Mr. Roger’s neighborhood reruns.
