"Carl was the third van I looked at. I drove three hours with a friend to go take a look and immediately fell in love. It felt strange since I had only looked at two others but I knew he was the one. I could see past the plush rose colored interior and red shag rug. I didn’t know much about buying used cars at the time and was in a small town with no service. All I knew was - no rust, runs well and I could stand. I went for it and never looked back!
The previous owners name is Carl. He is a rad 70 something year old woodworker who lived in the van in Sedona a few years ago. The name just stuck!
Arizona definitely gave us a warm welcome to this gorgeous state. ☀️ We are going to be wandering around Arizona for the next couple weeks. Let us know if you’ll be here. We would love to meet up with you! ♥️
had a little bit of time to explore the south side of petrified national forest before the rain decided for us that we won’t be hiking today and that we needed to move on. what can ya do when you’re living with the weather 🤷🏻♀️
We spent three ”pretty” amazing weeks in Catalunya, partly because we were waiting for our friend who lives in Barcelona to come back from his Christmas holidays in Finland. With the incredible places we visited though, we didn’t mind waiting! From the coast to the mountains and to Barcelona, we really enjoyed Catalunya. And there, for the first time, we felt like our vanlife travels finally kicked off for real! 😊
Maxxair fan ✅✅
We opted to have two maxxair fans for optimal comfort during those hot Florida summers.
We understood that having an air conditioning unit would be virtually impossible to run solely off of solar and we didn’t want to be bound to rv parks either. We are sure that there are other ways to make it work, but this is what will work for us 👌🏼
One of the most exciting things about a reno is all the planning that goes with it 🤗 we have our kitchen appliances now and we are stoked 💪🏽

Hey 2 0 2 0 !
Wow 2019 was a blur and to be honest it was a hard year for us 😓 but a huge highlight of the year was buying our van!! 🚐 Vanlife was something we had been researching for a while and we took the plunge to make it happen! Although we’ve had a bunch of setbacks with our build we are STOKED things are starting to move along again and we have some sick adventures and plans for 2020 that we can’t wait to take you along on! This year is going to be an exciting year! 🤙🏼
What was your favorite memory of 2019? ✨
There will always be someone to tell you your dream isn’t realistic, it’s too “out there”! Or “yeah that might be something you can do when you retire”, “are you crazy you don’t have this or that, you’re completely unqualified”! .
Um no! If God gave you the vision, If He gave you the dream, you can trust Him! .
I remember sharing a dream with a friend about traveling full time with my family in an RV. I knew that it would happen while I was still a young woman because in this dream I had a young child with me and a dog in addition to Roland and Ariel. So when this friend said “ummmm that sounds like something you can do when you retire and not while you’re young”. I knew either I misinterpreted the dream or she didn’t believe in me or what God had told me. .
I don’t know if she was trying to be super negative or discouraging but I sure felt deflated. I remember being in my car and I cried out to God asking for a word and he gave me this scripture “The Lord always keeps His promises He is gracious in all He does” Psalm 145:13
When I tell you I went into straight praise and worship right there in my car. God had reminded me to trust Him and not the words or opinions of people but to trust Him and His promise.
I want to also point out that it took 5 years for that dream to come to pass. But I am living in that promise right now! I’m traveling full time in my RV with my whole family including our newest additions Victory(4yrs old) and Noel (dog 1yrs old) how’s that for a dream come true and a promise fulfilled. .
Are you holding on to a dream? Are you holding on to Gods promise? Type yes in to comments if that’s you. I want to add you to my prayer list. I want to pray for you and your strength in the waiting.

People ask how often do we cook out of the van, and the answer is almost every meal. We layed out our van design purposefully to have the ability and flow of space to cook for potential groups of people. Our #furrion 2-in-1 propane 3-burner range and oven we absolutely love. It puts out high heat for searing and maintains exact oven temperatures for baking. We designed a flip up walnut countertop that extends our galley space yet still allows to open and close our #ge stainless steel spacemaker fridge fully while prepping. We installed a deep sink, slide-out pantry, and custom built upper cabinetry with struts and catches to keep everything in place while we’re underway.
What is your ideal galley layout for #vanliving ? 🍳🍽🧂
Whenever we meet up and camp with friends, new or old, it is always fun to poke around and check out eachother’s vehicles. We’ll spend hours hopping from rig to rig showing off neat little life hacks, inspecting mechanical upgrades, or just reminiscing over stories from past adventures. We are all incredibly unique individuals with specific likes, needs, and wants, so by default each of our vehicles naturally reflect that by being completely unique themselves...
Pictured here are two of my favorite Vanagons “Stink” on the left, and our very own “Arabella” on the right. On the surface they may seem very much alike, both being factory 1.6L Turbo Diesel powered VW Vanagons, but it is what’s under the surface that makes up their true identity. The many little quirks, modifications, and decorations that illustrate the colorful personalities of their owners. Everything from the gear that’s mounted on the exterior, to the stickers that adorn each of the windows, helps to tell the story of the people that these vehicles carry and the many places that those four wheels have traveled...
No matter what you drive, what makes your rig unique? Is there a special totem you hang from the rear view mirror? A radical DIY modification that you did? Even something as simple as a beloved steering wheel cover tells a story about you. I’d love to hear you’re thoughts, because like I said, talking about eachother’s vehicles it’s kinda one of my favorite things ever.
A big shoutout and thanks to @vanagonlife for making many of the amazing aftermarket additions to each of these vehicles like the VOW drivers side window (pictured on Arabella) and the lockable center console that has been a serious game changer in our rig. Also thanks to @bfgoodrichtires for the new KO2 all terrain tires that have been beasting it through any and every slice of terrain we’ve encountered since running them. 💪🏼

Die erste ECHTERSON Panne. Da fährt man hunderte Kilometer Gravelroad durch Island und wird dann hier von einem mickrigen Nagel zur Strecke gebracht! 🤣 🚙🇬🇧 The first ECHTERSON breakdown - After hundreds of miles over Iceland's Gravelroads we were struck down by a measly nail! 🇪🇸 Primer colapso de ECHTERSON: ¡Después de cientos de kilómetros en las carreteras de grava de Islandia, nos golpeó un clavo miserable!
Whew! Made it through the Tejon Mountains in Los Padres National Forest. This was such a beautiful ride!

Another day, another adventure! 🚐
The drive between Queenstown and Glenorchy is considered one of the best in the country. The road hugs the mountains as you curve around the lakeshore of Lake Wakatipu with views of the mountains in the distance.

Old Nissan interestar conversion!
You would be surprised to read that following this photo I stumbled into my camera. Bumps and bruises on my legs would be expected as part of my body makeup.
I was a gymnast and dancer for most of my life yet my balance and physical awareness outside those practices has been something else! Though recently I’ve noticed a change with daily yoga. Which is great!
This is also gracefully expressed in coffee spills, chocolate spots, tears, etc in much of my working clothes.
I’m a natural born disaster in all my clutzy glory.
I will continue posting some more pictures of my time roaming around Europe in my first van until I have taken some new pictures of my Citroen Jumper. And wouldn’t it be a shame to not share them 😉
So don’t get confused about my van situation – currently on the road with van nummero dos 🤪
By the way would anybody be interested in me doing a video van tour? Showing what I have built, giving some insights and explain why I converted two vans in 2 years.

Taken on a beautiful morning after some fresh snowfall in the Peruvian Andes with an avalanche on the distant mountain face... Processed with the incredible software Luminar from @skylum_global ... which I already mentioned a few times in the past but I can now reveal that I will be their ambassador! Stay tuned for lots of cool stuff from us... including documentaries about my adventures :) Picture shared by our friend @beaversoutdoorpages

Busy to create a life we don’t a vacation from✨🚐 Eins unsere Highlights auf unserer Tour im Sommer: Stellplatz mit Blick auf den Limski Kanal in Kroatien🥰 traumhaft! Wer für den Sommet plant mit dem Camper durch Kroatien zu fahren - uuuuunbedibgt dort stoppen!☝🏽💫 ________________
Our first stop after leaving Portugal was to Gibraltar. We did want to visit Seville, but the parking situation was a bit iffy and we didn't want to risk it with the van so we decided to skip it this time, but we'll definitely visit another time!
We parked up at the marina in Spain for the evening, then first thing the next morning we walked to the border then caught the bus to the cable car. We had so many things we wanted to see there - the botanical gardens and Europa point being the main ones but we didn't have time after exploring the nature reserve on the way down from the cable car station. We had no idea we'd end up back in the main town area near the border, so we ended up just walking back across. That was such a weird experience 😂
As most of you are aware I rarely post pics of myself or friends. But I have to share this one. The gentleman with me is my BFF. And he is the best. We’ve been friends so long I can’t remember a time when he wasn’t around or there when I needed a friend. This was taken on a vacation with our families in Cabo many years ago. It says it all. This man spent his adult life serving in the military in Vietnam Nam and the rest in public service. They don’t get any better!
