. "Charlie Is My Darling", was the first documntary film about the Rolling Stones. The film was shot during the band's second tour of Ireland, on 3 and 4 September 1965, and was finished in the spring of 1966.It was given its premiere at the Mannheim Film Festival in October 1966, but was never released officially in its full length, due to the legal fights between the Rolling Stones and Allen Klein. In 2012, a restored and extended version was finally released by Allen Klein's ABKCO Records. The 64 minutes documentary follows the group from their car trip out of London to Heathrow Airport, and from there to Dublin where they had two concerts at the Adelphi Theatre on 3 September. The next day they take a train up to Belfast for two concerts at the ABC Theatre, before returning to London by plane the following day. Besides stage shots from the concerts, the film contains scenes from a hotel room in Dublin, scenes from their train trip to Belfast, and finally their flight back to London. Intermixed with this are interviews with the band members where they talk about fame, fans and future.

This is their first album. Unfortunately the casual fans don’t really know about it. They should. Both albums are fantastic. Norma Jean’s new offering has songs filled with both lyrical and sonic lucid imagery that I’ve been able to relate to. Take for instance the opening track “Orphan Twin” with its uncomfortable, haunting repetitive words expressed through different vocal styles.. melodic, strained, to screaming… “It’s not like you to pretend”. Or “Safety Last” with it’s first line, “I’ll burn every bridge in the world”. I don’t think there’s ever been a time in anyone’s life where they didn’t want to just take that match and destroy everything they know just to start over again… because the feeling of being “infinitely bankrupt” by circumstances and people is taxing on any kind of growth.. which is further supported by “Landslide Defeater”’s haunting melody in the bridge where the lyrics allude to self destruction to numb the harrowing things that may plague our minds in the middle of a weakened cognitive moment. “Trace Levels of Dystopia” quenches the thirst for bitterness while “Translational” is a bit of twisted hope. “Careen” scratches my itch for the irritation gathered by confusion and wanting to let go. “Anna” is reality. The acceptance of it, and the hope in whatever keeps you moving forward. This 8th full length by #NormaJean continues the path of brilliant art in a genre where fresh ideas are few and far between, further solidifying their legacy and one of the underground’s mainstays. “All Hail” indeed…

Vinyl 2019 Review - This album and band was a true Stumble Upon, "Samsara" by @loscoastofficial. An amazing combo of funk, soul, and grooves, I became an instant fan.

Blood Incantation - Hidden History of the Human Race 2019 US .

I'm not saying this is an Atmospheric Death Metal album....but it is an Atmospheric Death Metal album and a very effective one. Still a relatively new album for me, I am about 4 times through it so far and while many of the mechanics of the album are easy to point to as a reference to Nile or Behemoth or insert Band here, the album has an effective atmosphere about it that easily detracts influence from band originality. That is to say the sound is not hard to point to as the namesake of the Band who wrote and recorded "Starspawn" in 2016 and ended up in many top 10 lists of that year. Interesting interstellar time warp revealed, I was a bit stunned to realize, after thinking how short this album is in length, that it actually runs a full minute longer than the debut album. That, although it is simply not required for the conclusion, tells me just how lost I get in this album when it plays. It's definitely been effective at transforming thoughts into relaxation even when I realize just how massive and behemoth their sound is, it's got some very intense musical patterns and yet it tends to sooth rather than cause rage. Wish it was longer though, the writers seemed to be well onto some very creative energies, wish they had continued to follow that through for a couple more songs. .

Nightwish - Decades Live Buenos Aires (3LP set, recorded in 2018, released 2019)
Had been looking forward to this one for months - and it doesn’t disappoint my high expectations 😍. „Decades“ features tracks from all eight Nightwish studio records, from their debut album „Angels Fall First“ („Elvenpath“, „The Carpenter“) to their latest work „Endless Forms Most Beautiful“ („Élan“). And it’s quite impressive how the amazing Floor Jansen manages to do an outstanding job performing songs that were written for Tarja Turunen or Anette Olzon, who have a totally different style of singing. I‘m a Nightwish fan since my early youth, and I saw them with Tarja on their last tour, but I have to say I enjoy all their records, all the different eras, and Floor does them all justice. Favourites here: „10th Man Down“, „Come Cover Me“, „Deep Silent Complete“, „I Want My Tears Back“, „End Of All Hope“, and, of course: „Ghost Love Score“. That one has always been one of my faves from the Tarja era, and I adore the fantasy-note that she added to that song - but also LOVE how Floor created her very own version, with the most epic ending. Would love to see them live again!
