I’ve come to a crossroads in collecting lately: I can either pass on albums I’ve been wanting to hear just because they’re reissues, or I can pick them up until if and when I do ever come across the real thing; and I have no problem doing that now. Especially when it comes to records I can almost guarantee I’ll never see an OG, like this one, Meic Stevens’ first and most psychedelic record. “Outlander” covers a lot of ground, with a sound ranging from Dylan to Pentangle to Van Morrison to Strawbs, all filtered through a very Welsh lens. There are sitars and fuzz wah guitars and even a some funk on the drums. The songs with full band are my favorites, as the Dylanesque acoustic tunes almost descend into straight carbon copies of Zimmerman at his most “Boots of Spanish Leather;” a great tune but I don’t need to hear it in several different iterations every other song. They’re sweet and different enough to warrant a listen, but I do find myself skipping over them too. The major exception is “Yorric,” which is undeniably beautiful.
The songs that do have bass/guitar/drums/organ/etc. excel at being some of the best psychedelic folk to come out of the British Isles. “Rowena” is the prime example, with “Ghost Town” coming in as a second favorite.
Since originals are so expensive, I’d recommend this Numero Group repress. Very nice and quality with a replica of the insert (not to mention the lie take on the British Warner Bros. label). #meicstevens#welshfolk#numerogroup#psychedelicfolk#psych#folk#vinyl#vinyligclub#records#recordoftheday#vinylgram#vinylcommunity#cratedigging#vinyljunkie#discogs#vinylcollection#recordcollector#nowspinning#albumcover#nowplaying#vintagerecords#recordreview

Smiling And Waving - The Seventies in Concert
Limited Numbered 11xLP Coloured Vinyl Edition Box Set
My entry into @celerah#newwavewednesday with a special twist on the theme for debut album. “Outlandos d'Amour” is the debut album by English rock band The Police, released in November 1978 by A&M Records. Elevated by the success of its lead single, "Roxanne", Outlandos d'Amour peaked at No. 6 on the UK Albums Chart and at No. 23 in the United States. The album spawned two additional hit singles: "Can't Stand Losing You" and "So Lonely".
Although Outlandos d'Amour received mixed reviews upon its release, it has since been regarded as one of the strongest debut albums by any band or artist. It ranked No. 38 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of "100 Best Debut Albums of All Time." In 2012, the magazine ranked it No. 428 on their list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. #vinyl#vinylcollection#vinylcommunity#vinylcollector#vinylrecords#vinyljunkie#vinyladdict#vinyligclub#vinylporn#vinylcollectionpost#vinyloftheday
God Dethroned was one of my first death metal bands and has remained a favorite of mine ever since. I'm fairly pleased to finally own copies of these albums. Now if Floga or Metal Blade would reissue God Dethroned's first four albums 🤔🤔🤔 Into the Lungs of Hell (2003)
The Lair of the White Worm (2004)
The Toxic Touch (2006)
Passiondale (Passchendaele) (2009)
Under the Sign of the Iron Cross (2010)
¡Bienvenidos!

Here’s a follow up to the IG story I posted a couple days back... Last Friday I stoped by my friend John Wozniak’s house from Marcy Playground. He was kind enough to do some work on my guitar (Cuz he’s a super smart and rad dude). We got to talking about old tours and old friends. Friends he’s still close with to this day. He was telling me about in 1998 when his band Marcy Playground, Fastball and Everclear owned the top three spots on the Billboard Top 100. Pretty awesome... I’m off now to go pick up said guitar at John’s... cuz again, he’s a fucking star and finished fixing my super messed up guitar in 4 days, FOUR DAYS!! An incredibly talented dude... #marcyplayground#fastball#everclear#billboardtop100#1998#johnwozniak#guitarrepair
Long term Stones keyboard player and road manager Ian “Stu” Stewart (as he’s credited on this album) died on this day, the 12th of December, in 1985.
Having worked on the recording of the Dirty Work album during 1985, in early December he began having respiratory problems. On the 12th of December he went to a clinic to have the problem examined, but suffered a heart attack and died in the waiting room.
He was removed from the line-up in May 1963 at the request of manager Andrew Loog Oldham who felt he did not fit the band's image. He remained as road manager and pianist for decades and was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame along with the rest of the band in 1989.
Bruce Springsteen - Wrecking Ball (2012)
This hoodie is my favourite merch item of all. Forever connected with a very special memory: May, 2013, Munich, Germany. It’s raining, it’s stormy, it’s freezing cold. But no rain, no storm could stop the one and only Boss from rocking the stage at Olympia Stadium, and nothing could stop the crowd from celebrating!! What a day, what a memory! That’s where I bought the jacket, and every time I where it, I have to smile, remembering this iconic concert. On that day he played „Born In The USA“ in it‘s entirety, which was pretty cool. Ah, Bruce, hope you come back soon! 😃
„Wrecking Ball“ was inspired by the world bank/financial crisis in 2008, which resulted in a dark, angry record - and as you might know, I love angry Bruce. Starting off with the anthem „We Take Care Of Our Own“ (that’s a statement!), this is a typical Springsteen album about people’s daily life struggles, like the guy who has to take multiple jobs to pay rent („Jack Of All Trades“), the anger about a town going to waste („Death To My Hometown“). My personal highlight here is definitely „Rocky Ground“, a song that guided me through some tough times, and therefore will always have a special meaning to me. And the tribute to the late Clarence Clemons, the big man, who passed in 2011: „We Are Alive“. Overall this one is surely one of his best works since the 70s. ✨So, three QOTD for you: Do you collect band merch from concerts?
What are your thoughts on this album?
What’s your fave Springsteen album of the past 20 years? (Mine would be The Rising 💜) ✨ #brucespringsteen#springsteen#wreckingball#vinyl#vinylcollection#vinylcollectionpost#vinylcommunity#instavinyl#vinyloftheday#vinylgram#vinyljunkie#vinylgeek#vinylporn#vinyllover#vinylism#vinyligclub#vinylgirl#girlswithvinyl#recordcollection#33rpm#merch#ilovediscogs#springsteenfans#boss#memories
