Why I take these trips that look like a lot of fun but are hard work.
To my current and future clients, two weeks ago, I mentioned in my post that visiting the locations and properties is so important to me in order to give you the high-quality exclusive service you expect and deserve. Additionally, visiting these locations during non-peak periods allows me to experience for myself the weather, crowds, and buzz – the non-peak periods mean value.
Some of these locations are definitely seasonal and “hot” for many reasons during the peak summer months of July and August – but June and September are just as good and GREAT value. Especially Greece. I think, there is something unexplainable about arriving at a Greek island by sea – maybe it’s the clear turquoise/blues color of the water, or the soft sea air. So, I can understand if you are one of those that want the boat experience (talk to me if you are considering a boat charter for this area) but...that said, one needs a port to leave from and arrive to and any of these locations and the fabulous luxury properties I mentioned are ideal to combine a sea and land trip. At all these properties my clients will receive arrival amenities, breakfast, and VIP service included in the great values.
I cannot thank my hosts enough @jmakhospitality@oetkercollection@chateaustmartin@hotelducapedenroc@lebristolparis@mykonosgrandresort@petasosbeach@Mykonosriviera@eloundagulfvillas@canavesoia@newhotelsandresorts for all the incredibly informational and certainly fun days. A big shout out to my travelling companions/fellow travel advisors for all the laughs and good memories.
Its never too early to plan your trips and 2020 is just around the corner – give me a call – lets get something on the books. That’s why they call it “something to look forward to”. I am looking forward to something too but you will have to wait to find out. #wearetraveledge#oetkercollection#mykonosgrandhotel#bluevillascollection#eloundagulfvillas#canavesoia#virtuoso#france#greece#mykonos#santorini#eloundagulfvillas#jmakhospitality
Remembering Cole Porter !🌹
Cole Albert Porter (June 9, 1891 – October 15, 1964) was an American composer and songwriter.
Born to a wealthy family in Indiana, he defied the wishes of his domineering grandfather and took up music as a profession. Classically trained, he was drawn towards musical theatre. After a slow start, he began to achieve success in the 1920s, and by the 1930s he was one of the major songwriters for the Broadway musical stage. Unlike many successful Broadway composers, Porter wrote the lyrics as well as the music for his songs.
After a serious horseback riding accident in 1937, Porter was left disabled and in constant pain, but he continued to work. His shows of the early 1940s did not contain the lasting hits of his best work of the 1920s and 30s, but in 1948 he made a triumphant comeback with his most successful musical, Kiss Me, Kate. It won the first Tony Award for Best Musical.
Porter's other musicals include Fifty Million Frenchmen, DuBarry Was a Lady, Anything Goes, Can-Can and Silk Stockings. His numerous hit songs include "Night and Day", "I Get a Kick Out of You", "Well, Did You Evah!", "I've Got You Under My Skin", "My Heart Belongs to Daddy" and "You're the Top". He also composed scores for films from the 1930s to the 1950s, including Born to Dance (1936), which featured the song "You'd Be So Easy to Love", Rosalie (1937), which featured "In the Still of the Night"; High Society (1956), which included "True Love"; and Les Girls (1957). #musiclegend#jazzcomposer#jazz#bebop#swing#bigband#cooljazz#stylist#standards#ballads#classicjazz#greatness#master#brillance#composer#fromthearchives#jazzphotography#musicblog#piano#coleporter#icon#virtuoso#genius#rip 🎼🎵🎶🎹🎂🙏✌🖤
Happy birthday to Swedish jazz double bassist Nils Paul "Palle" Danielsson (born October 15, 1946). From 1974 to 1979, he was a member of Keith Jarrett's quartet. He is the brother of pianist Monica Dominique.
Danielsson's childhood was an especially musical one; his first instrument was the harmonica, which he started playing at the age of two. By age eight he was playing violin, which he continued to play and study for about five years. Around this time he became interested in jazz music and started to play double bass. By the time he was fifteen, Danielsson was playing professionally. Having studied at the Stockholm Royal Academy of Music (1962–1966), he began to play with Scandinavian musicians such as Eje Thelin, Bobo Stenson, and Jan Garbarek and took up international collaborations, e.g. with Lee Konitz and Steve Kuhn.
Danielsson has worked with Bill Evans, Keith Jarrett, Kenny Wheeler, Geri Allen, Michel Petrucciani, Charles Lloyd, Peter Erskine, Elvin Jones, Ben Webster, Charlie Shavers, George Russell, Albert Mangelsdorff, Enrico Rava, Collin Walcott, Tomasz Stańko, and John Taylor. He has also led and co-led several bands in Sweden, and released several recordings. #jazzlegend#jazzbassist#jazz#classicjazz#bebop#cool#classicjazz#greatness#master#brillance#bandleader#fromthearchives#jazzphotography#musicblog#bass#palledanielsson#hbd#virtuoso 🎼🎵🎶🎻🎂🙏✌💙
"Há basicamente duas direções nas quais um garoto pode seguir ao se apartar da masculinidade bíblica. Uma é a opção pela efeminação, a outra é a macheza, uma masculinidade falsificada. Na primeira, o garoto toma como modelo um conjunto de virtudes que não seriam dele. Na segunda, adota um conjunto de supostas virtudes, práticas que não são virtudes de forma alguma." - Douglas Wilson

#Henry Lewis, born October 16th, 1932 was a brilliant Black-American double-bassist and orchestral conductor whose career extended over four decades. A child prodigy, he joined the Los Angeles #Philharmonic at age 16, becoming the 1st Black-American instrumentalist in a major symphony orchestra and, later, the first Black-American symphony orchestra conductor in the #UnitedStates .
The only child of Henry J. Lewis, an automobile dealer and Mary Josephine Lewis, who was a nurse, his musical education started early in life at the age of five. He quickly learned the piano, the clarinet as well as various other string instruments. Professional opportunities did not exist for Black-Americans in the field of classical music at that time, however, his #genius was impossible to ignore. #HenryLewis undertook studies in both voice & the double-bass, reasoning that his professional endeavors might be improved since double-bass players were rare.
His #virtuoso talents shined on the instrument earned him a scholarship to the University of Southern Cal & over the next 40 years he became one of the true musical geniuses of the #classical music genre.
After dozens of timeless classical recordings as a musician & countless performances as a conductor Henry Lewis was inducted into the American Classical Music Hall of Fame in 2015 for his outstanding contributions to music. He was awarded the #GrammyAward in 1981 in the category of Best Classical Vocal Soloist Performance.
As the 1st Black-American to lead a major symphony orchestra, Lewis also demonstrated a devotion to presenting music to the entire community by increasing the orchestra's outreach into New Jersey's ghettos & working class neighborhoods, where performances of classical music were virtually unknown. He was a virtuoso genius & a trailblazer & for that we will forever … #Respectthatmansgreatness ✊🏾 #blackdatabase ✊🏾
Happy birthday to jazz pianist William Morrison "Bill" Charlap (born October 15, 1966, pronounced "Shar-Lap"). Born in New York City, Bill Charlap comes from a musical background. His mother, Sandy Stewart is a singer who was a regular on "Perry Como's Kraft Music Hall" television series and had a hit recording in 1962 with "My Coloring Book," and his father was Broadway composer Moose Charlap. Charlap is a distant cousin to jazz pianist Dick Hyman.
Charlap began playing piano at age three. He later studied classical music, but he has remained most interested in jazz.
Charlap and his mother recorded two duet albums, Love Is Here To Stay (2011) and "Something To Remember" (2013). Charlap has recorded seven albums as a leader or co-leader for the Blue Note Records label, including two Grammy-nominated CDs: Somewhere, featuring the music of Leonard Bernstein, and The Bill Charlap Trio, Live At The Village Vanguard. For the Japanese label Venus Records he has recorded two albums as a leader, as well as eight albums as a member of the New York Trio.
He has worked with Gerry Mulligan, Benny Carter, Tony Bennett, Phil Woods, Scott Hamilton and others. In the mid-90s, he was the musical director of Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, A Celebration of Johnny Mercer, part of New York's JVC Jazz Festival. In 1995 he joined the Phil Woods Quintet.
Charlap appears at least twice a year for lengthy runs at some of the world's major jazz clubs, including the Village Vanguard, with his rhythm section, consisting of Peter Washington (bass) and Kenny Washington (drums). The two are not related to each other. In addition to appearing and recording with Peter Washington and Kenny Washington in the Bill Charlap Trio, since 2001 Charlap has also recorded as a member of the New York Trio for the Japanese label Venus Records. The other members of the New York Trio are bassist Jay Leonhart and drummer Bill Stewart. #jazzlegend#jazzpianist#jazzcomposer#jazz#bebop#swing#cooljazz#standards#stylist#classicjazz#epic#greatness#master#brillance#bandleader#fromthearchives#jazzphotography#musicblog#piano#billcharlap#hbd#virtuoso 🎼🎵🎶🎹🎂🙏✌💚

I love cities that feel like they’ve got layers and secrets to discover. Hong Kong definitely feels that way!
Happy birthday to Jazz pianist Herman “Ivory” Chittison (October 15, 1908 – March 8, 1967). He began his career in Zack Whyte's territory band in Ohio in 1928. In the early 1930s he moved to New York and found work as an accompanist to Ethel Waters, Adelaide Hall, and Clarence Williams. He also visited Boston for the first time with a traveling show headlined by comic actor Stepin Fetchit. In late 1933 he went to Europe with the Willie Lewis Orchestra and toured Europe with them; the following year he recorded with Louis Armstrong in Paris. He and Bill Coleman led the Harlem Rhythm Makers. Herman Chittison and trumpeter Bill Coleman left Lewis in 1938 and formed a band that worked extensively in Cairo and traveled as far east as India. In October 1959, Chittison arrived in Boston and was employed as the resident pianist at the Red Garter bar in the Lenox Hotel. He then moved to the Mayfair Lounge in Bay Village. His stay in Boston lasted two years. #jazzlegend#jazzpianist#jazz#bebop#swing#bigband#cooljazz#stylist#composer#modaljazz#epic#greatness#master#brillance#fromthearchives#jazzphotography#musicblog#piano#hermanchittison#hbd#virtuoso#rip 🎼🎵🎶🎹🎂🙏✌🖤

And pity Sultan Mahmud on his Throne.
