A few people have said to me recently that they find my Instagram posts uplifting and helpful which makes me feel so very happy. I do often wonder why I keep on doing it, and I do often need a wee break but comments like that do make me want to continue. It does all come back to my love of photography and being lucky enough to live in and photograph one of the most beautiful places on earth, but more and more I have come to realise that Instagram is more than just the pictures, it’s also the words behind them and people getting over a sense of who they are!
A big thing on social media these days is branding. How do I want to portray myself? A friend once told me that I needed to sum myself up in one sentence if I wanted to be successful at this lark. My instant reaction to that is that I cannot and do not want to be summed up in one sentence. There are a few things about me which people may relate to - I am in my early fifties but still feel thirty, I have two beautiful grown up daughters, I have lived in Oban for 25 years but am not Scottish. I am quite outdoorsy enjoying outdoor swimming all year round and also walking, cycling, paddleboarding and camping (and if it’s on an island then so much the better), but I am a potterer not an athlete! I am also an indoorsy person and love reading and computers and writing and making things out of wood. My job is a web designer which I have done for about 22 years now, and that’s ok. I am spontaneous and would much rather do things on the spur of the moment than plan them. I have done 2 eight week mindfulness courses and would recommend them to anyone who is struggling in any way with any aspect of life, but actually I think everyone could benefit. I am interested in the environment and especially how it affects Scotland and the interesting relationship between tourism and our wild spaces. I kind of know my way around a DSLR but still wing it most of the time. I would like to do photography more on a professional level and maybe one day soon I will, and maybe soon I will publish my own website which I have been making for years! Sorry for the ramble, any insights on all this gratefully received! #scotland#xt2#Oban

Too many people spend their day working indoors and then never find the time to enjoy nature! Getting outside and enjoying the fresh air is great for mental health and physical health - even if it’s just 20 minute walk!
Self Catering Property of the Day: Frazier Cottage
This traditional, yet modern house is situated only 100m from the Royal Dornoch championship golf course. The modern kitchen diner leads through into a large sitting room with log burner. The downstairs bedroom and large shower room is suitable for people who find stairs a challenge, and there are easy ramps on the outside doors. Upstairs there are two twin bedrooms and a bathroom.
The utility room has a washing machine and tumble dryer, storage for walking boots, fishing gear or golf clubs and the door leads directly towards the golf course.
Outside there is a partly-covered patio, ideal for afternoon tea, looking onto the raised beds planted with bilberries and heathers inspired by the mountain top flora. There is also a lawn and off street parking for 2 cars at the back.
