Long ago, there lived a huge bear with a quick temper. One night, warring shamans woke
the bear from his winter slumber. In rage, the great bear tried to destroy them. Napi (the
creator's ambassador) was in a rage and sentenced the bear to a life of wandering. Banished
from his home, the Great Bear's fury grew. He tore at the land with claws and teeth, digging
deep trenches and throwing up great mounds of earth and rock. Mountains, valleys, lakes and
rivers lay in his wake as he wandered. One of his excavations became the deepest lake in the
Canadian Rockies - Upper Waterton Lake (148 m/487 ft deep).
At that spot, with broken teeth and worn claws, the repentant bear cried out, "Napi,
I am old and tired! Please let me rest." Taking pity on the Great Bear, Napi let
him stop and sleep. As he slept, Old Man changed him into a mountain
Today, the Great Bear (Crandell Mountain) sleeps at the junction of
the three valleys he created - Waterton, Cameron and Blakiston.
Sometimes trying to get "the right" shot takes some planning, and possibly lugging around some equipment. Now in the right mood, I can find this adventurous and fun. On the other hand, sometimes it's just a pain in the rear, and I'd rather go to a cafe and be having dinner.
This particular shot is after sunset in Bordeaux, at the Mirroir d'Eau. I was tired, lugging my tripod around (ok, maybe that was my husband) and I really just wanted to eat dinner.
But I am certainly happy with the shot! So it's a matter of weighing out the frustration, fatigue and desire to make a beautiful photo. Sometimes the photo wins...and sometimes it doesn't.

Passeio Maria Fumaça Tour Uva e Vinho. .
If you ever wanna see if a man is actually really manly or not, ya need to see how they react to seeing a big spider 😂 was in work the other morning & two of my work colleagues called me over in a rather distressed state cause there was a huge spider next to them 😆 ever the hero, I immediately jumped into action to save the day & I went to pick it up but it ran down a hole & disappeared 🤦🏻♂️😂 I told them to give me a shout if it comes back, to which one of them replied “I’m gonna fucking burn this place down, that’ll sort it out” 😂 what a bunch of pussies 😂

Do you remember -My Secret Sky- series? This is the fourth post I’ve shared from that night. Believe it or not, I still have a few other frames I’d like to share with you all at some point. The magic of this night opened up right at sunset hour. These colors broke through an otherwise stormy overcast day. And right as the last hue faded from the painted sky, more clouds rolled in, tucking away this secret sky....
🤗 Thank you all for your great support and wonderful comments. I enjoy reading them. 🙏❤️ I try to respond to as many as I can.... I am truly grateful 🙋🏻♀️.

After two attempts I'm grateful to have finally ticked this spot off the list. If you look closely you can see our tent -- we had the place to ourselves the first night.
Twelve hours after this beautiful sunrise we were lashed with a severe storm. I'm not a big believer in weather lore, but it was absolutely true to the old sailor's adage about a red sky in the morning being a "sailor's warning."
And after Uluwatu we went to Canggu, the atmosphere here is very different from what we have seen here around Bali, many beach clubs, many surfers and many rice fields too, very charming restaurants that are very similar to Australia. More fancy Bali, and also liked a lot and enjoyed this vibe here ✌🏼

I can't not stress enough to an aspiring photographer how important it is to be a storyteller. The art of Storytelling is the oldest form of art there is and it is what makes all the other art forms come to life and have meaning to impact others. Snaping a beautiful photo is great but if there isn't a story behind the photo or you don't know how to tell it, the photo has very little meaning and will be lost amongst the millions of other beautiful photos that people take with no other purpose than to get the likes on Instagram.
During the @mammothphotofest I'll be talking more about this and also teaching some photography. Hope to see you there.
Photo: This photo of @hayoui was taken during one of thee most memorable adventures of my life down a small river in Mexico that I accessed with an amazing crew using our @alpacka_raft these little boats have been the vehicle to making possible many of my favorite adventures and this photo is getting me stoked to attending the annual @americanpackraftingassociatio packraft round up in Idaho to meet new friends and float some white water!

between the blooms
and blades of grass,
between the sky’s taunting drama
and undeniable magic,
between my single breath,
everything made sense...

There is usually a week or more when the cherry blossoms blanket the landscape in popcorn white speckles... I’m surrounded by orchards and even a simple drive offers some pretty amazing views. This year, work and life consumed me and I didn’t have a lot of time for photography. I got a few shots; this is one of my favorites... the sky was crazy, and made for a fun scene. Hope you think so too.
💖Wishing you all a happy Sunday! Thank you for being awesome and kind. Your nice comments and support mean a lot 🙏🙋🏻♀️
When I travel to new places, I always ask myself, ”what is it about this place that makes it so unique and different from other places I've ever been”. As I find answers to that question, that is what I try my best to capture and emphasize in my photos. For me the Dolomites were special for many reasons, one of which were the churches. Some new, but most were old. Very old. This church for example was in the middle of a field. I dont think it gets used any more. I'm use to seeing important building with roads to them but there is something truly special to see a build of great worth to some without a road to it. Was it always that way? Does it still get use? I don't know but it is absolutely beautiful
