'What do you sell and who are your customers?' It's not just about the beautiful British flowers I grow, which do sell themselves, but more about the whole story. Seasonality is what my customers love, brides are excited to see their flowers as seedlings or those funny little corms I was talking about, producing those adorable ranunculus.
I hesitate to call myself artist, but there is an art to creating beautiful bouquets or interpreting someone's ideas for a memorial service, making memories for significant days in their lives.
DIY brides choose to buy buckets of the best flowers available that week, creating their own memories with family and friends.
I also sell British organic silk ribbons and velvet ribbons, dyed with my flowers and plants. Colour is such a major part of my life and during the winter months (and summer, whenever I get a chance!!) I can be found experimenting and creating new colours for other florists, my own brides or anyone who loves the subtle, natural colours of my silks.
Workshops here on the farm are another way I 'sell' my flowers or my knowledge and share my skills, not only to florists, but to anyone who loves a quirky flower or two in their arrangements, wants to learn about foam free arrangements or simply wants to immerse themselves in flowers for a day.
Phew! That was a long one, thank you if you got this far!!
Wedding mornings are exciting for us. Being organised is key. This process starts the night before. Cameras cleaned, batteries charged, car fuelled, cards empty, and ourselves hydrated, fed, relaxed and across the wedding day run-sheet. There are so many elements and emotions to a wedding day and all need to be captured - it’s our role to make sure these are not missed. This process starts a minimum of 4 weeks before a wedding day where we liaise with our couples to make sure their timeline is structured to fit into the package they have booked, ensuring that the day runs smoothly and we can be where we need to be to capture it all unfolding in the time allowed. During the planning phase there is Skype meetings, venue visits and we scout portrait locations. We love what we do || @alicemccracken@matbraddy@epochacarlton
