// CHOOSING YOUR SUPPLIERS // Hey guys! Happy Sunday ❤ I'm not working today but after a week of gorgeous appointments I wanted to share something that's come up a lot this week... I've heard some really sad stories around choosing suppliers and the impact it can have on your engagement journey (which should be fun and stress free!) My advice to everyone is always the same... 1) Stalk your suppliers socials for a while, you'll get a feel for their work and their ethos that way. Dont get caught up on how many followers they have - some businesses spend thousands on ramping up follower counts, but ultimately it doesn't mean their work is any better or more importantly, any better for you. Focus on the content.
2) Get to know your suppliers. Whether it's for a coffee, a formal consultation or a natter over email - its important you feel comfortable with them (and hopefully like them!) if they're going to be part of your day.
3) Be clear about what you want. It's important to be guided by professionals but always remember that it's your day so if there's something you really want that they can't offer -maybe they're not right for you. It doesn't happen often at Jam Jar but every now and again we get enquiries that we know aren't going to work out. Whether it's because of the way I work, my design style or theirs - when you know you know.
Have a fantastic day loves xx
A sweet friend asked me the other day what my biggest wedding regret was. And, honestly, there’s only one thing I wish I would’ve done differently. ⠀
I wish I wouldn’t have settled when it came to my wedding dress. ⠀
My parents graciously offered to pay for my dress and gave me a budget.⠀
Because “our wedding day was just one day,” I decided I didn’t want to invest any of my own money into my dress and only looked at dresses that were within the budget my parents gave me. (Sometimes, my practical mindset pays off. Other times, I need to live a little!) ⠀
I found a wedding dress that was 90% what I was after and decided that that was as good as it was going to get. (It was a very pretty dress. Don’t get me wrong! I was very thankful!)⠀
What I didn’t consider at the time, though, was that my wedding dress would be in ALL of our wedding photos. And, when I look at our wedding photos now, I sometimes wish I would’ve spent a little more to get a dress I truly loved. (Like Miryam did in this photo! Isn’t she stunning?! 🙌)⠀
I would NEVER encourage a couple to go into debt for their wedding. But, if you’re currently planning your big day, there are two items that I would encourage you not to settle for because these items will be in ALL of your wedding photos!⠀
1️⃣ ATTIRE. Brides, if finding a dress you love means spending a little more money or reallocating your budget a tad, don’t be afraid to do that! Grooms, you shouldn’t settle on your tux either. You’ll be more likely to love your wedding photos if you love the way you look in them! ⠀
2️⃣ BOUQUETS. 💐 Brides, you and your girls will be holding your bouquets in nearly every photo. It might feel silly to spend a pretty penny on flowers that will inevitably wilt the next day, but I can almost promise you that you’ll love your wedding photos more when you love the flowers you’re holding!⠀
Long story short, brides and grooms, don’t settle when it comes to your dress, tux, bouquet, or other items that will be in most of your photos. You’ll be looking at your photos that feature these items for all of your days. And, you want to love the way you look in your photos and don’t want to have any regrets!
Our Dressing Room is available from 8am on the day of the wedding throughout the day.
You can choose from Bucks Fizz, Prosecco or Champagne with pastries and a fruit platter and hot refreshments to enjoy with your Bridal Party.
Congrats to Jay and Holli!
Holli contacted me late last year for their January wedding, and thankfully I was available and able to get them on the calendar. And what a sweet wedding it was. They are an awesome couple and we wish them all the best in their future.
